What I'm about to say again in the last one that got deleted. It's kinda amusing how the moment Puss in Boots Last Wish came out and became highly successful, many Disney haters were gloating Dreamworks was gonna replace Disney as the dominant animated movie company but they than all went silent after Teenage Kraken came out.
Yo, let’s go! Haha, I just watched the first video like 2 hours ago ago! Haha! The risks Dreamworks takes make their movies, adds something even to their “worst” movies. I’ve watched The Bee Movie and Sharktale for fun and nostalgia, but their safer movies, I’ve probably only over seen once or twice.
Trolls band together is the best trolls movie with original songs. A great thing about it, is that the songs are actually catchy and the singing voice actor for the villain is getting a lot more attention thanks to trolls 3. It’s definitely a good watch and a good dreamworks movie.
I would say one of their golden eras was 2004 through 2006 realeasing (Shrek 2, not shark tale, Madagascar, Wallace and Gromet, Over the Hedge, Flushed away)
Dreamworks taking risks is definitely the biggest reason imo, but this year and last year, everything was just so safe. Especially Kung Fu Panda 4, which is really upsetting because Kung Fu Panda 2 is tied with Into the Spiderverse for my favorite movie of all time. You have a movie that takes no risks at all and then you see just two movies before in the same franchise, it tackled literal genocide and overcoming trauma. Tell me another animated movie that tackles those issues and isn't a war movie
@alptugraakan7490 It definitely was not great for sure. It was average. Not awful, but painfully average. It didn't go above and beyond with anything or even try. The only risk that was taken was casting Akwafina and the only unpredictable thing was the fact that she wasn't unbearable in KFP4
ive seen some people who started watching dreamworks after puss in boots 2 and I told them dont be surprised when they release some meh movies because they are THE MOST inconsistent studio of all time
Nobody is perfect, and its true. But it all honesty, someday, DreamWorks will have their touch again, they kinda have a little fever right now like with sone other studios like walt disney anination, and Pixar
Lots of people don't understand that Megamind vs the doom syndicate is actually just a pilot episode for the Megamind rules TV series. It has been getting mistaken by many people to be a sequel to the first movie. If it was a sequel to that movie, it would have truly been animated by Dreamworks with a higher budget, had the number 2 on it's logo and be released theatrically instead of being right away put on streaming.
@@isaacmurdock True, Dreamworks should have tried to make it be more clear to the public that it isn't a sequel movie to avoid this misunderstanding problem from happening. I hope that that studio can learn from this mistake and do better next time.
Even if Dreamworks is up and down with their movies and sequels I still beg them to turn Rise of the Guardians into a francise like How To Train Your Dragon. The world it created is so magical that I want more. It is my favorite movie. The team behind it are oscar winners and they have talent.
After Megamind and Kung Fu Panda 4 at least there's one bright spot to DreamWorks at least they're re-release of Shrek 2 20th anniversary is still making more money in the theaters this shows that DreamWorks care for Their audience i hope they'll go back to making Original Stories with the wild robot.
I've joked for years that Dreamworks runs on a two-team system. Team 1 works primarily on mid-to-trash-tier movies, which generate the revenue needed to satisfy their investors, who are then willing to fund what Team 2 is working on--which is always the unequivocal banger that is so good it manages to save Dreamworks' reputation. As for what makes (most of) their sequels so good, I think a lot of it comes down to the way they approach making said sequels. Instead of focusing on all the stuff that made the first movie popular, they try to progress their characters' development in a way that feels logical. The HTTYD series for example starts with Hiccup changing his tribe's mind about dragons by training them, then the second has him go up against someone whose mind he CAN'T change, forcing him to fight back alongside the dragons, and finally the third sees him growing into his own person--one who is strong enough to lead, protect, and sacrifice even when it's no longer possible to live with dragons. Each movie leads into the next while also giving each its own unique story, themes, and stages of character development. In other words, it feels like a proper STORY, not a cash-grab. Love your sense of humor and the skits you do, btw. I'm excited to see the channel grow more in the future!
To me, it’s actually based on who the staff is behind the film. I do have to say I’d love for DreamWorks to make a Splatoon movie with Nintendo. It could be good bad or OK, depending on who the writers are.
It’s simple: There’s no Brain Trust overseeing everything at DreamWorks like there is at Pixar. They just let each team of filmmakers do whatever they want. However you feel about the current Pixar lineup, you can’t deny that their movies have a much stronger level of cohesion between them than any other studio, and the Brain Trust is why. Same reason why Sony Animation made Emoji Movie and Spider-Verse back to back: zero oversight on either, both left alone to create completely opposite results.
Look i don't mind DreamWorks always try something new and even experimental with their animations and taking risks and all stuff like i don't mind this inconsistency that they always try something new unlike other studio just stick with the same thing over and over again like illumination abd disney but i just wish they were...more consistent with the quality of their movies like abit more consistency in their movies wouldn't be that bad because i know these guys can pull out very good and masterpiece movies here and there over and over again! I found it hilarious people actually thought Puss in Boots the Last Wish was gonna lead Dreamworks into a golden age. Apparently one amazing film is all that’s needed to signal a renaissance. We’re talking about the king of inconsistent studios here. Also ironic these same people were hating on pixar just because of this one great film even though their last great film httyd 3 was 3 years before Last Wish and everything after was either mid to bad. And since Last Wish it’s been crickets. Now Pixar has Inside Out 2 which is amazing as well(you can argue whether it’s better or worse than Last Wish but ultimately it comes down to personal preference). And I actually liked Soul, Luca and Elemental and would take those any day over Ruby Gillman, Trolls and Kung Fu Panda 4. Even Pixar’s worst film in recent years Lightyear which these people clowned on is still infinitely better than that atrocity Megamind 2. Pixar is doing way better than Dreamworks
I consider Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas much better than mediocre. But I agree with the video's overall thesis. You never know whether Dreamworks is going to make a cool move or a fool move. I imagine I'd enjoy working as a director for Dreamworks more than for, say, Disney because I'd probably have more creative freedom. But by the same rule, I'm less likely to call myself a fan of Dreamworks, as opposed to a fan of individual Dreamworks movies, since if you like one, there's not much guarantee you'll like others.
I think with Disney being very meh and even bad lately, a lot of people started putting their faith into Dreamworks with Puss in Boots 2 and The Bad Guys being pretty good films both visually, and story wise. I want The Wild Robot to be a silent film (no voice acting), I would love to see this robot just interact with the world, and learn to protect it by admiring its beauty. I don’t need some Siri voice for this robot, cause who’s it gonna talk to? The rabbits? They ain’t talking back, and if they do, I don’t wanna watch the movie.
After Puss in Boots: The Last Wish came out, I found myself on a bit of a Dreamworks kick so I ended up watching a ton of their movies (both the good and the bad). Even then, I find a lot of their bad movies like Bee Movie and Shark Tale to be really entertaining in an ironic way Anyway, this was a brilliant video and it was great to hear your two sense on this issue
Honestly compared to the disasters that were ice age continental drift and ice age collision coarse; I don’t think kung fu panda 4 is that bad compared to those. It’s just mediocre and definitely full of wasted potential. Also I like 4th movies in franchises. Examples I’ll include: Star Wars 4 or 1 depending on how you watch them, Indy 4, Shrek 4, Avengers 4, alien: resurrection, x-men: first class, and Jurassic world.
Am I the only one who thinks PiB 2 wasn’t worth all the hype? It was just ok in my opinion, it wasn’t some sort of revolutionary animated film like everyone else was saying, it was an ok 1 hour kid’s movie
@@SafouaneMarrakh it was ok, that’s all it was, but all the crappy memes and anti-Disney, right wing extremists bootlicking just glazed it up, making it something it just wasn’t
DreamWorks Animation hires different filmmakers to make different kinds of movies. Not all of them are gonna be winners, but it's a fool's errand to expect them to hit a homerun every time. I think DreamWorks is gonna be just fine, especially since Jeffrey Katzenberg isn't there to ruin everything with his pettiness.
I guess whether you love it or hate it, it's a DreamWorks movie so there's always going to be inconsistent and people always going to have opinions on it. For example, my mom hate Shrek 2, Megamind, and Kung Fu Panda 2. On the other hand, people like it.
Dreamworks perfected this kind of strategy to publish couple of lame, horrible, easy to sell movies in a row - in order to get money to make a real banger once a few years

Well, many people cares about Ruby Gillman and the film has it's fans, even I cared about it too and I loved it. It became the most viewed movie on Netflix.
Ruby Gillman had poor marketing? No wonder I didn't see hardly any trailers for it. Last July I find out that it came out in 2023 which shocked me. I thought it was released in 2021. I thought it was just the Mandela Effect. But tbf the film was announced in 2021 and thats when the original film logo and title was released and I do remember seeing some info of the film on one of those videos that revels revels upcoming animated films that are gonna be relessed this year, next year, or the year after that. I do recall seeing a few images fron the film while on the internet, but not much. I didn't think much of it. I didn't see the film though. I read about it because last july I got these random thoughts about the film and I got these weird out of nowhere urges to look up the film on Wikipedia abd read about it. It was really odd, stupid, and unexpected. I did see a ton of trailers for Luca though, as well as Raya And The Last Dragon, Wish Dragon, Rock Dog 2, Encanto, Turning Red, Lightyear etc. I did see a few trailers for Ths Bad Guys, Puss In Boots: The Last Wish etc.
When it comes to Dreamworks 2D animated films I wouldn't said they are generally bad. On the contray, I found them pretty good (some of course better than the others) and one of the main reasons they did poorly at the box office was the fact that in the early 2000s 2D animated movies had a really bad time, especially when they had to rival with brand new 3d animated movies.
Unpopular opinion, but I think Universal should shut down DreamWorks because they only care for Illumination. So what’s the point of owning both of them if they’re just gonna give illumination the special treatment? That’s just idiotic of them. So yeah, they should pull the plug on DreamWorks and get it over with.
I liked bee movie. It was hilarious, and vanessa was quite hot, not gonna lie. The boss baby was so bad, my mother got angry as soon as we got out of the theater. Jack black singing baby one more time was excellent. Despicable me 4 looks promising to me.

I can’t wait for Disney to enter anew resurgence not just I want them to make good movies but then everyone will stop generating stupid excuses for dreamworks making F their movies😤
Because unlike Disney they want to take risks and don't care if it's not a box office hit or failure and that's why I'd rather support them then Disney.

Anyway, this was a brilliant video and it was great to hear your two sense on this issue
Great comment! Couldn’t agree more! :)
The Sonic The Hedgehog of the animated world.
😂
Well thats a relief(i said it for funni)
THE WILD ROBOT IS ADPTATATION OF BOOK
Uh wild Robot is not an original dreamworks movie by the way it's based on a book by the way
Not sure if you knew about that
I know. “Shrek” is also based on a book, so is “How To Train Your Dragon”, but most people consider those to be DreamWorks originals.
But yes technically you are correct :)
@@isaacmurdock yeah i knew that already long ago but yeah they are not dreamworks Original by all means
@@isaacmurdock wait WHAT!???HTTYD IS AN ADAPTATION?!!?!
HEY! Kung Fu Panda 4 was a PERFECTLY GOOD movie! Not having the Furious Five in it is NOT a reason to dislike it!
I love shark tale tho 😭
Hey you’re totally entitled to that opinion, I like the profile photo :)
Shark tale is simply 𝓟𝓮𝓻𝓯𝓮𝓬𝓽𝓲𝓸𝓷
@@isaacmurdock thank you
Yep there is no Megamind 2, doom thing isn't sequel but long tv episode
I said this in a different video and I have no issue saying it here.
The worst of Dreamworks is better than the worst of Disney.
THATS funny my mom said the movie was really good
@@SafouaneMarrakh it was ok, that’s all it was, but all the crappy memes and anti-Disney, right wing extremists bootlicking just glazed it up, making it something it just wasn’t
@@TheBeaverFiles no,as soon as I came out of theatres I was like damn that was good 10/10
@@SafouaneMarrakh then that’s a you problem
Yeah that's a good question why is DreamWorks so inconsistent?
DreamWorks Animation hires different filmmakers to make different kinds of movies. Not all of them are gonna be winners, but it's a fool's errand to expect them to hit a homerun every time. I think DreamWorks is gonna be just fine, especially since Jeffrey Katzenberg isn't there to ruin everything with his pettiness.
Come on now, bee movie was a masterpiece in the guise of an oddity
Actually, Megamind 2 wasn't made by DreamWorks, just some company called Peacock, and Kung Fu Panda 4 was a terrific movie, you just don't understand.
I guess whether you love it or hate it, it's a DreamWorks movie so there's always going to be inconsistent and people always going to have opinions on it. For example, my mom hate Shrek 2, Megamind, and Kung Fu Panda 2. On the other hand, people like it.
Meanwhile, in the alternate universe, Megamind 2 and Kung Fu Panda 4 were super great!
Now I’m an imaging a reality where Shrek 2 is just terrible and Shrek the Third is a masterpiece.
@@isaacmurdock That would be truly bizarre lol
Dreamworks perfected this kind of strategy to publish couple of lame, horrible, easy to sell movies in a row - in order to get money to make a real banger once a few years
Well, that's all about to change when dreamworks aren't going to fully animate their films in-house at their Campus
I don’t know. They’ve been that way since the beginning. Why don’t you ask them??
Very thoughtful!
Thank you :)
Yeah, there consisteltly incosis tent!ALSO:Did you know that SHARKTALE was nomianted for an oscar?!(really im not joking!)Oh and Monsters vs Aliens...should it be called bad or even mid? No.Should it be called a masterpiece(like httyd)No.Its just good(DWs most overhated film)....also still holding out for a sequel to Rise of the Guardians!(Dws most underated film)
I like Rise of The Guardians, I’ll have to rewatch it sometime.
1:40 i hate that movie that i wish that movie never existed
Wow, deja vu
Deja vu indeed.
They probably didn't mix probably
People are calling the Bee movie Shark Tale and Monsters vs Aliens bad movies?
Yes
Well, many people cares about Ruby Gillman and the film has it's fans, even I cared about it too and I loved it. It became the most viewed movie on Netflix.
I saw the movie 2 times, one in an IPTV software, and two on Netflix.
Puss in boots trolled us for real
Lollll 😂
Kung fu panda 5 and 6 should have to be better villain
When it comes to Dreamworks 2D animated films I wouldn't said they are generally bad. On the contray, I found them pretty good (some of course better than the others) and one of the main reasons they did poorly at the box office was the fact that in the early 2000s 2D animated movies had a really bad time, especially when they had to rival with brand new 3d animated movies.
Trolls BLAND Together. I don't care about that movie.
@JeremyMasterson938 Definitely agree with you
I actually like Bee Movie
I’m glad :)
Kung fu panda 4 is the terrible disappointment you entitled DreamWorks fans deserve.
No it's not! The Boss Baby is actually terrible disappointment and shut up!
Bruuuuuhh
I liked bee movie. It was hilarious, and vanessa was quite hot, not gonna lie. The boss baby was so bad, my mother got angry as soon as we got out of the theater. Jack black singing baby one more time was excellent. Despicable me 4 looks promising to me.
I kinda prefer Dreamwork over Pixar and Disney.
Pixar is objectively better because they always put passion in their movie( not including cars 2 and Lightyear
@@coachcherokee1488 Pixar didn't make puss-in boots the last wish. 🎤💧

Ok Trolls 3 was good tho
I’ve been meaning to watch it.
They’ll make a fantastic movie and then make BOSS BABY.
5:21 You are being a dreamworks biased hypocrite, that was true in the past but turbo and Ruby gillman were terrible Disney ripoffs with turbo being a soulless ratatouille ripoff and kraken being a soulless Luca ripoff, and you talk about Disney sequels Kung fu panda 4 was a terrible soulless mess worse than Ralph Breaks the internet.

I respect your opinion on Ruby Gillman Teenage Kraken
Bruh everyone acts like Orion and the Dark doesn’t exist. Even though it’s an actual Dreamworks film that came out this year on Netflix unlike Megamind 2 and the film is really good.
Truth be told I haven’t seen it. I’ve heard good things about it.
Well it's made by Mikros animation the studio behind the Animation
I enjoy Kung Fu Panda 4. I love Puss in Boots The Last Wish.
Except that some shreks fans becomes more toxic than ever.
why does everyone dislike kung fu panda 4. if kung fu panda 2 wasnt as good as it is, 4 would be the best one! oh and dog man is coming out next year so im excited for that
I’m actually in the camp that thinks 3 is better.
