First off, the song from Robin Hood is not a villain song because they're mocking Prince John, then there's The Backson from Winnie the Pooh if you have not noticed say similar story from the previous movie instead of The Backson was Skull which was School misread by Owl in other words, not a villain song made up character which even showed in the end of the movie no act of villainy and unlike the Heffalumps and Woozles doesn't make it that a bit of a nightmare-ish type, from The Little Mermaid the chef I consider him as a nemesis only to Sebastian the crab, not an actual villain, last but not least King Louie from The Jungle Book honestly not a villain I get it he wants to be like a human just to have fire but he's not the main antagonist of that movie you could just added Shere Khan only a small portion of a song called "that's what friends are for" even is just one tiny piece of the song.

I mean, of course our perspective won't change (he is very obviously an evil person, just from the opening scene alone), but we are given a complex and layered understanding of how he perceives himself. He sees himself as a righteous person, and that all those genocidal actions, murders, and sins that he committed were quote-unquote "justifiable" because it is "for God". But we also see a side in him that he feels serious doubt in an action he has never done or felt before, and that is lust. He fears the temptation, and he fears the effects that it will have on him if he follows that temptation. But we also get the narrative that he doesn't blame himself for it, but blames God for the temptation, all the while refusing to stop with his desires and continuing to doubt whether or not that temptation is worth it. I know you said no direct to vhs/dvd entries but "My Lullaby" in Lion King 2 goes so hard honestly might be better than "Be Prepared." The lyrics are so metal.
IKR! shame it couldnt be listed cause it goes so hard with "Simba's dying gasps" "his daughter squealing in my grasp" "oh the battle may be bloddy but that kinda works for me" Like wtaf disney xD
I know it didn't have a theatrical release, but I gotta know where Lion King 2's "My Lullaby" would rank. It is personally number one, and I will die on this hill.
This was fun! Thanks! My two cents... Ranked too low: "Trust in Me." Susheela Raman recorded a version of this song with classical South Indian orchestration and it might change your mind about how delicious this song is. Ranked too high: "Prince Ali (Reprise)". I love Aladdin, but I never really thought of this as Jafar's villain song. Nailed it: "Hellfire" and "Poor Unfortunate Souls." Those songs are soooo good.
My first thought going into this that I was most curious about: So which is worse? "This is the thanks I get" or "Yodell Ladle Ledle Lial"? Because you already know what the top songs will be (order will just be subjective), so sometimes it's more interesting to know HOW bad is a more recent bad song.
Yodel eedle adle oo or whatever its name is was performed by 4 people (The voice of Slim, the voice of the 3 brothers and 2 yodelers one for high notes and one for the low ones). I'm pretty sure that the voice of slim does the yodeling and vocals in the first part and than the big yodeling part is done purely by the yodelers, and when it returns to the normal singing the voice actor isn't doing the yodeling anymore. Basically I'm pretty sure he tried to do the yodeling at first and than got tired and only sang the vocals.
You see I was fine with you putting The Worlds Greatest Criminal Mind lower than it deserves. I was fine with you putting Trust in Me lower than it deserves. I was fine with you putting Hephalumps and Woozles way higher than it deserves. But you put KIDNAP THE SANDY CLAWS THAT LOW! SHAME ON YOU SIR SHANE ON YOU!
"We don't like what we don't understand (in fact it scares us)!" Yep -- culturally relevant, and I fear 'twill be so till the end of time. Friends on the Other Side is "creepy, catchy, funny, charming, and threatening all at the same time" -- and as if that weren't enough, it's sung by Keith David, one of entertainment's under-acknowledged treasures, who brings his A game to everything he does, from voicing heroes (Gargoyles) to voicing villains (Princess and the Frog) to narrating a multi-part PBS documentary (Ken Burns' Jazz). David's voicework as Dr. Facilier is honestly my favorite of any Disney villain ever.
Okay that’s valid. This is the thanks I get score may have been slightly inflated because I love listening to it ironically, the song is so bad it’s good. 😂
I approve of "Be Prepared" being second place, "Hellfire" is so good even covers are awesome. Also the 2019 version doesnt exist, the fact that it was initially going to be scrapped and they added it after people complained, only to give us that lackluster, boring performance. Not sure what you're going on about with "The Phony King of England" being boring. It's a fun roast of the main villain, even if not a villain song. Also I am sad you didn't include sequel songs, "My Lullaby" from The Lion King 2 slaps. I hope you consider making a sequel to this list with the sequels in mind. Also, if you haven't, please listen to the Fall Out Boy cover of "I Want to Be Like you". Sure the album is basically celebrity covers of Disney songs, but that one really is awesome.
I think the main reason I ranked “The Phony King of England” low was cause it wasn’t a traditional villain song! Upon revisiting it, you’re right it isn’t as boring as I made it sound!
I LOVE Robin Hood and I love the soundtrack! The Phony King of England is such a fun group/folk song and what's even better is if you look up the soundtrack and get to the country version of the song, it sounds even better 😁😁
I say this in the most affectionate and loving way to the original movie: *_I hope Disney never touches The Hunchback of Notre Dame again for as long as I LIVE._* (I'd say I also hope they never make live action remakes of _anything_ again, but that'd be setting the bar too high >:/ )
Great ranking and video :) My fav's: -Friends on the other side -Poor unfortunate souls -Be prepared -Oogie Boogie song -Yodel-adle-eedle-idle-ooo -Prince Ali reprise -I wan'na be like you -This is the thanks I get?! (Original version is not great but instrumental is catchy, Chris Pine has a great voice and some other languages made this song better when it comes to the lyrics) Btw. I love how you used Bowser Theme Park song (Bowserland) from SM3DW in this video, this is one of the best villain theme i've ever heard, and it fits the video pretty well :)
16:38 During “Belle” one of the customers said “I need 6 eggs” before the dealer said “That’s too expensive.” Meaning that Gaston must have caused a low supply and high demand of eggs and drove the price up
I’m a little surprised we don’t talk about Bruno isn’t on this list. It’s not a villain song per se, however most Disney villain lists consist of it and it is played in the movie that Bruno is the villain. Great list overall I’m glad Gaston got the love it deserves
Ratigan is my favorite Disney villain and honestly, I think it's a crime that his songs aren't ranked higher. I would've put "The World's Greatest Criminal Mind" in the top ten for several reasons: 1) It's about Ratigan's past crimes where he pulled off successful capers such as robbing the crown jewels and killing women and children (what other villain song has that?). There's an alternate version sung by Corey Burton that goes into more detail about Ratigan and his minions throwing the women and children into the Thames River, and then being shot as they came up to the surface with Ratigan watching gleefully. 2) The song showcases his personality: He's theatrical, a dangerous threat to even his own henchmen (as seen as he fed one of them to his cat after being called a rat), his view of Basil thwarting his schemes, and enjoys being evil (something we don't see in Disney villains without giving them a sympathetic backstory). 3) It was sung by Vincent Price who obviously had a blast singing this. I would rank "Goodbye So Soon" lower (around in the top twenty) because of the melody, but I love how it was part of the death trap for Basil. The song mockingly sings about how Ratigan will miss Basil but will move on. The lyrics and how it was used showcase how arrogant Ratigan is, which leads to his downfall.
My ranking 32. We are Siamese 31. The phony king of England 30. Mad Madam Mim 29. Hi Diddle Dee Dee 28. Love is an open door (villain song 27. This is the thanks I get 26. The Backson 25. I personally would have put "The World's Greatest Criminal Mind" higher up because Ratigan's such a great villain. He's stolen not only from other rodents, but also from humans, and it becomes clear that he's a serial killer plotting high treason. It's not just "This is my song about this one thing I need to do;" he's a professional criminal who already has a long list of stuff he's already done, and he's still at it. Furthermore, you can tell he doesn't feel guilt or remorse; he's having a great time. He really loves being a criminal mastermind. All that being said, I do respect that everyone has different opinions about songs and movies, and that's not a bad thing at all; that's how we got such a nice variety.
The World's Greatest Criminal Mind is ranked so low. The man has a whole harp solo! It's so campy and silly yet dark. It sets up who Ratigan perfectly and deserves a far higher spot
I'm glad Hi-diddle-dee-dee got a mention. It's not the best, but as the first of the Disney villain songs, I'd say it was at least a pleasant number to listen to for the small time it had 😊
Walter Catlett's Foulfellow is so darn charismatic. A less skillful vocal performance would leave us thinking Pinocchio was too-stupid-to-live for being so easily taken in by him. And the song is key to the performance.
There's a theory I've seen that I totally subscribe to about Hellfire that I think absolutely elevates it even further! Towards the end, when the guard comes in to inform Frollo that Esmeralda escaped, you'll notice that he's backlit in bright white light, and his face is totally in shadow. The theory is that this was literally God giving Frollo his one chance at redemption. Esmeralda is gone, the temptation is out of his reach--this is Frollo's last chance to let it go. And how does Frollo respond? "Never mind, get out, idiot! I'll find her if I have to burn down all of Paris!" This perfectly illustrates the truth of Frollo's situation--for all of his excuses, he alone is responsible for his inevitable damnation. When presented with the opportunity to do what's right and turn from his sin, he rejects it and chooses to pursue it. What happens to him as a result is entirely his own fault.
My personal favorite villain songs are the ones where the villain is hamming it: Gaston and The World's Greatest Criminal Mind. Though Hellfire is great too!
WTF are people complaining about Savages being offensive? The song is meant to display the racism the white settlers have toward the natives. For as historically inaccurate as the film is, it DOES at least convey the fact that the English settlers were terribly racist to and felt superior to the Native Americans whose land THEY invaded
I like the Thurl Ravenscroft version of The Headless Horseman, maybe a little more than the Bing Crosby version just because of Thurls deep vocals, plus it's funny hearing a scary song sung by Tony The Tiger
I agree with you - they destroyed "Be Prepared" in the re-make of The Lion King! Also....they ruined Jafar in the live-action Aladdin. Instead of the cunning, humorous villain in the original animated movie, we got someone....much more whiny. Oh, and your rant about Gaston and his daily egg intake was hilarious!
Personally I still think that "Savages" is Top Tier. Like you said, the whole point of the song is to show how harmful racism is. And I think it is beautifully shown not only through lyrics but animation as well. Just take lines like "Their skin's a hellish red" - sung by the English while standing in the light of fire which makes their skin look red. And the counterpart: "The paleface is a demon" - sung by Native Americans who look pale in the moonlight. They are so different but shown as the same during every scene. The whole song is made in such a clever way. And it really conveys how hate speech and prejudices lead to so much unnecessary violence while Pocahontas' lines are all about saving what she has learned to love. With a war going on around her, she would sacrifice her own life for an English man she has gotten to know and love. I just think it's a very powerful song.
Love the list, my placements are a bit different, with poor unfortunate souls at 2, snuff out the light at 4 an Yoddle-Addle-Eddle-Iddle-Oo.at 8 or 9. The rest i completely agree with
Honestly, I feel Savages does what it sets out to do, set up the impending conflict between the colonizers and the Native Americans. And yes, the lyrics are harsh and "offensive", but thats kinda the point, thats how each group views the other. The Colonizers see the native americans as savages for not having the same advancements as them and living a more naturely life, while the native americans see the colonizers as savages for barging in and tearing the place up. A common tactic people use when starting conflicts is to dehumanise the other side, hence the "barely even human" and "I wonder if they even bleed". It also shows how both sides in the heat of the moment aren't that different, that they'll brand an entire group as savage with no exceptions and use that as a justification to go to war and slaughter them. (This is a bit harder to justify with the Native americans as they're just defending their home, though its also to show how they'll kill John even if he's not actively against them.) People need to remember that its not the film itself saying Native americans are savages, its the characters in universe. It makes sense they'd say that in the goal of killing them. Yes its pretty simple, because its a complex problem simplified for kids to understand, but I feel the message generally succeeds. I'm curious as to how it could be made better outside of improving the film itself.
The Siamese cats are not villains there are only mischievous cats the real villain in that movie is the Rat, you can say no villain song for Lady and the Tramp.
@imaxischerhangus3578 The main reason is trying to KILL A BABY, besides the fact it is huge, ugly, scary enough, and has those red eyes, plus with suspense music. Even if it only has very little screen time except having more time than the cats.
When you first mentioned about the rules of what counts on this list, I was wondering about Eartha Kitt’s song since it was the only outlier that it was made for the movie but didn’t make it to the final release. I hope by next year for the 25th anniversary of the movie that Disney give us a fully animated sequence of the villain song, Snuff Out The Light. Although if they do try and do a live performance of the song, who do you think can do a good enough cover?
@@isaacmurdock true, if anything I think Pink would do a great cover if given the opportunity (if you remember her singing from Happy Feet Two that’s why I chose her). Also for the Gaston song, which version do you prefer: the animated version with Richard White or everyone’s favorite mutant, Wolverine (aka Hugh Jackman)?
For the first five internally have no comments that’s literally the accurate summation of the best villain songs from Disney. I do think this is the thanks I get should have been way lower tho (preferably last place) but that’s just me.
as a native person I don't think the problem with Savages the fact that the bad guys are being racist I think the problem is they're equating people doing genocide to people defending themselves from said genocide
I think that "Mine, Mine, Mine" is kinda underrated. It's not top 10 worthy or anything, clearly, but coming from a musical theater background I can see some pretty decent strengths. It has a good sense of flow and timing, the harmonizing is pretty solid, and it's really fun if you're singing in a group. That being said, yeah, the lyrics are generic and nothing worth writing home about. But everything else would scoot theis song up to about 13th or 14th for me.
Honestly I think you can interchange Hellfire and Be Prepared and it would still be correct. They are that close to each other in terms of perfection Edit: THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENT ABOUT THE TRAVESTY DISNEY COMMITTED WHEN THEY BUTCHERED UP SCAR'S CHARACTER AND MORE SPECIFICALLY, HIS SONG!

4 Hellfire Hunchback of Notre Dame
3 Friends on the Other Side Princess and the Frog
2 Poor Unfortunate Souls Little Mermaid
1 Be Prepared Lion King
I know you said no direct to vhs/dvd entries but "My Lullaby" in Lion King 2 goes so hard honestly might be better than "Be Prepared." The lyrics are so metal.
IKR! shame it couldnt be listed cause it goes so hard with "Simba's dying gasps" "his daughter squealing in my grasp" "oh the battle may be bloddy but that kinda works for me"
Like wtaf disney xD
FRIGATE THAT FLIESSSS such an underrated bop
Totally agree, it needs more attention!
Me: There's no way something could be worse than This is the thanks I get
*The Siamese cats joined the call*
😂😂😂
I know it didn't have a theatrical release, but I gotta know where Lion King 2's "My Lullaby" would rank. It is personally number one, and I will die on this hill.
Man i gotta say you are my favorite movie review channel
Keep up the great work
That means so much to me! Thank you! :)
@isaacmurdock just trying to give credit where its due🙂🙂
The disrespect for “World’s Greatest Criminal Mind”, smh…
I’m sorry 😭
This was fun! Thanks! My two cents... Ranked too low: "Trust in Me." Susheela Raman recorded a version of this song with classical South Indian orchestration and it might change your mind about how delicious this song is. Ranked too high: "Prince Ali (Reprise)". I love Aladdin, but I never really thought of this as Jafar's villain song. Nailed it: "Hellfire" and "Poor Unfortunate Souls." Those songs are soooo good.
Honestly fair takes, looking back at this list there are a few things I might switch around. Thanks for sharing your opinion! :)
My favourite is actually the reprise of Mother Knows Best, Donna Murphy's vocals are just INCREDIBLE in that
My first thought going into this that I was most curious about: So which is worse? "This is the thanks I get" or "Yodell Ladle Ledle Lial"?
Because you already know what the top songs will be (order will just be subjective), so sometimes it's more interesting to know HOW bad is a more recent bad song.
Ahahahah that’s fair 😂
I’M SORRY 😂😂😂
@@isaacmurdock it’s the best Disney villain henchman song we’ve ever had
Did you ever hear “All That Ive Done for You”? It’s a deleted song from Tangled and its amazing.
I’ll go check it out!
I’ve never seen King Louie as a villain 😭
Me neither but when I was researching for this video literally everything listed him as a villain.
He can be seen as a anti-villain in some way
He can be seen as a anti-villain in some way
I looked it up, he wanted fire so he could conquer the entire jungle
Y'know, it wasnt mentioned here but My Lullaby from Zira in TLK2 honestly imo is up there with some of the better disney villain songs!
scar is the best villain ever yos
YESS HELLFIRE
Hahahaha 😂
I'm glad you didn't ignore Snuff out the Light!
Slim had two professional yodelers in order to pull off his song.
Putting Ratigan below This is the Thanks I get is a crime. XD
Okay that’s valid. This is the thanks I get score may have been slightly inflated because I love listening to it ironically, the song is so bad it’s good. 😂
This Is The Thanks I Get?! is respectably high on your list.
Agreed. I didn’t realize it was as high as it was until I watched back through the video 😅
This list is so wildly different to mine bro.
Great comment by the way! Thanks for sharing!
Yes, Flying ship is just AWESOME and i was realy disapointed when i discoverd that it doesn't count as disney villian song.
I LOVE Robin Hood and I love the soundtrack! The Phony King of England is such a fun group/folk song and what's even better is if you look up the soundtrack and get to the country version of the song, it sounds even better 😁😁
I say this in the most affectionate and loving way to the original movie: *_I hope Disney never touches The Hunchback of Notre Dame again for as long as I LIVE._*
(I'd say I also hope they never make live action remakes of _anything_ again, but that'd be setting the bar too high >:/ )
Hahahahahah 😂
Great ranking and video :)
My fav's:
-Friends on the other side
-Poor unfortunate souls
-Be prepared
-Oogie Boogie song
-Yodel-adle-eedle-idle-ooo
-Prince Ali reprise
-I wan'na be like you
-This is the thanks I get?! (Original version is not great but instrumental is catchy, Chris Pine has a great voice and some other languages made this song better when it comes to the lyrics)
Btw. I love how you used Bowser Theme Park song (Bowserland) from SM3DW in this video, this is one of the best villain theme i've ever heard, and it fits the video pretty well :)
I wish the film version of headless horseman was available to download 😭
Truly tragic.
We don’t talk about Bruno is great!!!
I forgot half of these songs even existed
I also have the Yodel song stuck in my head
Ratigan is my favorite Disney villain and honestly, I think it's a crime that his songs aren't ranked higher. I would've put "The World's Greatest Criminal Mind" in the top ten for several reasons:
1) It's about Ratigan's past crimes where he pulled off successful capers such as robbing the crown jewels and killing women and children (what other villain song has that?).
10:53 I also played Chef Louis in my middle school’s musical when I was in 8th grade.

Dishonorable mentions What Dreams Are Made Of (Ballad) (The Lizzie McGurie Movie)
Love Is Am Open Door (Frozen)
My Lullaby (The Lion King 2 Simba's Pride)
The Madness Of King Scar (The Lion King Musical)
What I've Been Looking For (Ryan & Sharpey's Version) (HSM)
Remember in the first song of Beauty and the Beast, there's a line that goes "I need six eggs. That's too expensive." Gaston is the reason for that.
Love the videos, man. Keep it up!!!
Thank you so much :)
Snuff out the light mentioned!!!!!! Heck yes!!!!!
If the villain song from Robin Hood counts as well as Cruella, surely We Don't Talk About Bruno should be mentioned too
You’re right. I’ll have to find a way to put that song in a future ranking!
I'm glad Hi-diddle-dee-dee got a mention. It's not the best, but as the first of the Disney villain songs, I'd say it was at least a pleasant number to listen to for the small time it had 😊
Yeah! It’s honestly not a bad song. If I could go back I might put it slightly higher.
I'll find her if I have to burn down all of Paris!"
This perfectly illustrates the truth of Frollo's situation--for all of his excuses, he alone is responsible for his inevitable damnation. When presented with the opportunity to do what's right and turn from his sin, he rejects it and chooses to pursue it. What happens to him as a result is entirely his own fault.
I love this! Thank you for sharing! :)
My personal favorite villain songs are the ones where the villain is hamming it: Gaston and The World's Greatest Criminal Mind. Though Hellfire is great too!
oh hell yeah i am so glad to see some appreciation for the banger that is the frigate that flies
WTF are people complaining about Savages being offensive?
The song is meant to display the racism the white settlers have toward the natives. For as historically inaccurate as the film is, it DOES at least convey the fact that the English settlers were terribly racist to and felt superior to the Native Americans whose land THEY invaded
Where is "Pete's king of France" from "Micky . Donald . Goofy The Three musketeers"
“The Three Musketeers” was a direct to VHS and DVD movie which disqualifies it from this list
That character, one of the characters in the movie kind of reminds me of the movie, treasure planet, what I heard wasn’t very good
Twas Brillig and Pink Elephants on Parade would probably count as villain songs too.
The World’s Greatest Criminal Mind and Trust in Me were robbed.
Yeah, I figured that "Be Prepared" and "Hellfire" would be at the top. That's where I'd put them too.
Hellfire will forever be to this day the best VILLAIN song ever!!
It’s 🔥🔥🔥
I think " we don't talk about bruno " is a good shout for a new villain Favourite
1:05 I AGREE! 16:28 What?! 16:33 What- Actually I can believe that.
The Phony king of England is actually pretty cool!
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the other move back knocked your down it’s my opinion
Love the list, my placements are a bit different, with poor unfortunate souls at 2, snuff out the light at 4 an Yoddle-Addle-Eddle-Iddle-Oo.at 8 or 9. The rest i completely agree with
Hey that’s a solid list!
Top 3 are also my Top 3! Great list 🔥
Aww thanks :)
(This is a bit harder to justify with the Native americans as they're just defending their home, though its also to show how they'll kill John even if he's not actively against them.)
People need to remember that its not the film itself saying Native americans are savages, its the characters in universe. It makes sense they'd say that in the goal of killing them. Yes its pretty simple, because its a complex problem simplified for kids to understand, but I feel the message generally succeeds. I'm curious as to how it could be made better outside of improving the film itself.
You had me until Hi-Diddle-Dee-Dee. That's just homophobic towards the gay fox and cat i will not handle this.
Nooo!!! I love Honest John!!!! 😂
Seeing "This is the things i get" so high up crushed my soul
The Siamese cats are not villains there are only mischievous cats the real villain in that movie is the Rat, you can say no villain song for Lady and the Tramp.
Agree
Counter point. They scared the heck out of me as a child.
@isaacmurdock the only thing that song did to me when I was a child was shake my head.
How is the rat the villain? I haven't seen Lady and the Tramp in a long Time lol.
@imaxischerhangus3578 The main reason is trying to KILL A BABY, besides the fact it is huge, ugly, scary enough, and has those red eyes, plus with suspense music. Even if it only has very little screen time except having more time than the cats.
I’d personally rate Heffalumps and Woozles just a little higher if it were my list…but only because it creeped me the hell out when I was little.
It’s unnecessarily traumatic! 😂
Good question. It’s hard to say, it definitely wouldn’t be the same without Eartha Kitt but I’m sure someone could do the song justice.
Yzmas Yzmapolis song is amazing
thanks for including The Hades one ... i do think Savages should count too
I heard that the original version or something like that cartoon or something that was called kingdom of the emperor of the song
I didn’t even need to skip to the end to know that Hellfire is number one.
as a native person I don't think the problem with Savages the fact that the bad guys are being racist I think the problem is they're equating people doing genocide to people defending themselves from said genocide
Totally agree!
NOOOO MY LULLABY IS REALLY GOOD FROM LION KING 2!!!
Ughhh guess I’ll just have to do a video where I talk about the Disney direct to dvd sequels.😉
@@isaacmurdock yessssss
I think that "Mine, Mine, Mine" is kinda underrated. It's not top 10 worthy or anything, clearly, but coming from a musical theater background I can see some pretty decent strengths. It has a good sense of flow and timing, the harmonizing is pretty solid, and it's really fun if you're singing in a group.
That being said, yeah, the lyrics are generic and nothing worth writing home about. But everything else would scoot theis song up to about 13th or 14th for me.
Honestly I think you can interchange Hellfire and Be Prepared and it would still be correct. They are that close to each other in terms of perfection
Edit: THANK YOU FOR YOUR COMMENT ABOUT THE TRAVESTY DISNEY COMMITTED WHEN THEY BUTCHERED UP SCAR'S CHARACTER AND MORE SPECIFICALLY, HIS SONG!
I Think Dr.Facilier He Does Have Some Of Judge Frollo and Jafar in him. ❤️🖤💜🔥🃏🧞♂️
Maybe so 😂
@@isaacmurdockYeah Dr.Facilier Jafar and Judge Frollo wearing Red Black and Purple Clothing ❤️🖤💜
