I think the reason they don't do a commercial is because they immediately start the next show also without a commercial to get you hooked into the next episode.

One of my favorite episodes ironically was the one where they wanted to win so they could gloat at their ex girlfriend who lost chopped. It stopped being mean and instead came off as really funny.

That was... uncanny. I’ve still not calmed down from laughing so hard. I’ve probably seen every episode of Chopped ever (barring the Martha Stewart ones, not a fan) and this was the best thing ever. They did an amazing job with IC Geoffrey Zakarian and IC Alex Guarnascelli and Amanda Freitag and Ted Allen. This show is so weird but I love it.
Scott Conant would’ve been a good choice as a judge too - they could’ve made his hair extra poofy!! And Marcus Samuelson could’ve been dressed up in something from RuPaul’s man closet!

Yeah a ton of new SNL skits are hilarious. I don't watch the actual show though, but on the occasion I do, I think a lot of skits are hit-or-miss and it has become hyper-politicized. People don't like that. I think many of these skits in the past 3-4 years are easily some of the funniest stuff SNL have ever produced. The pizza rolls skit with Kristen Stewart? The House skits with different celebrities, hilarious stuff.
