Not really, his plan was to take pawns with his queen and not care about his pieces and king. He probably wins by tilting his opponents and letting them sack unsoundly or straight up blunder a lot of material imo

This is my favourite yet - I come across so many people who play like this! Too often, I get a really good position and then find I can't break through they end up winning on time. The last game I had like this, I got fully developed with rooks with a clear line of sight on d1 and e1 and I played d5 and he succeeded in closing the position. After I put the game into the analysis engine, Stockfish just laughed and sacked a knight immediately to open it up 😂

So very instructive! I like how you can make a 'story' out of each game and how you can 'steer' the content of a game in a certain way. Not easy to do for lower rated (class) players, but beautifully explained. Particularly about being patient and not worry too much about material, like him taking the queenside pawns in the end. Many thanks.

When people play these openings against me i feel like I need to be winning almost immediately so i tend to sack a bit more than i would otherwise and thats why I assume these people get to relatively high ratings, not necessarily playing perfectly but just hoping your opponent will try hard a bit too much and then just win everything in the endgame bc you're up s couple pawns

It's funny how he always praises and hypes up his bad opponents for playing "extremely well", but when he runs into an actually good player...crickets...silence...serious face.
Love the series and I think he is the best chess coach out there but overly complimenting his opponents who are playing poorly is kind of empty.

I dont think he's overcomplimenting them, he just acknowledges that they play well relative to their rating. Of course it doesnt mean they are as strong as GMs
