  • Marthyn Jovanovic's analysis of Inferno - Drummer of Behemoth - playing Slaves Shall Serve.
I hope this observation on how Inferno plays helps you figure out for yourself which of his skills at the drum kit would be interesting for you to practice.

I agree with the people here that you should not call this a 'react ' . Because anyone makes a reactionvideo these days.
Your video's are more a analysis of drummers. Its so much more entertaining to watch. And good info as well. So we basically learn something from this. Maybe call it 'Reactianalize.'

When I saw them live in 2010, he actually came out before he got into corpse paint and the black leather clothes the band usually does and personally tuned up the drum set and did a quick warm up set. The man is one of the best drummers I've ever seen live, and I've seen Hellhammer with Dimmu, Frost with Satyricon and Dave Lambardo with Slayer.

What an excellent analysis of the stick technique etc. So many drum videos just talk about "this is a blast, this is the fill he did here" that sort of thing. You've really gone into a breakdown of how and why his body mechanics are a certain way and what that produces in terms of playability

First of all, thank you very much for providing such a huge variety of drum related videos with high quality content. Your videos help me a lot and I really like to see how you set up new formats as the drum technique podcast or now the "drum teacher reacts to ..." videos. This variety and especially the two mentioned formats make your channel outstanding and unique compared to the other drum related TH-cam channels I know.
My suggestions for further videos within this format are: Fredrik Widigs, Nils "Dominator" Fjellström, Wanja "Nechtan" Gröger (in terms of technique he really differs from most extreme metal drummers), Kerim "Krimh" Lechner and Eugene Ryabchenko. But since the last two guys are also austrians, maybe you can invite them someday to your drum technique podcast ;)

A classy analysis, helps me to appreciate how tricky it is to play the drums at that level. It's surprising how some people think they own the artist and keep criticising or saying what one should or shouldn't do. It takes years of practice, humility and passion to play like that. Muscle memory and myelin. It's not muscles that play, it's brains.

react to Gene Hoglan's playthrough of Strapping Young Lad's Skeksis or Death's The Philosopher!! Gene Hoglan is probably the best metal drummer ever

Félix Hamel He’s good but not even close to the best. Most extreme drummers are at 300bpm. He’s not that fast, but very good.

@@bdog2501 yeah but drumming isn't all about going fast, my dude. Buddy Rich didn't played at 300bm either, and he was one of the bests. I say Gene is the bests because of his awesome grooves and overall originality that he brings around the instrument, within a musical context of usually agressive music

Reinart is also great, maybe even better than Hoglan.

Tony Laureano on Nile's "In Their Darkened Shrines" is brutal. George Kolias replaced him in the band if I'm not mistaken but he wasn't quite as high octane.

It would be really cool, but the problem is that Aaron is playing over the cd track, you can't really analyse him cause you can't hear what he is actually playing, you could not really know how tight he is or how the kit sounds.

Yeah man, everything has just been "played" by a VST.
I don't understand how there is people that think that Aaron has recorded those drums using triggers, or recorded using an electronic kit, i mean, are you serious? Ahahah
Some of those drum parts are just NOT PLAYABLE, a drummer should know that.
One cool thing about Aaron is that writes really cool parts, for Infant Annilathor, Rings Of Saturn and even Black Tongue, he really knows how to valorize music with drums.

I’d love to hear his views on the playing of an “impossible song” and the different techniques that would need to be used to play it. The video on TH-cam is a play through with no mics and just the backing track. Entertaining none the less.

Id love to see your analysis of Aaron Stechauner's drum playthroughs. Particularly Margidda. He has a very interesting foot technique for his kick drums.

Very cool reaction videos, even though i am not a drummer i enjoy watching them a lot. I would suggest checking Reed Mullin from C.O.C., Joey Lacaze from Eyehategod and the drummer of Samsara blues experiment. I dont know if they fit the style of your lessons but they are cool to listen to
