      Thanks! It's a great place to live, especially those neighborhoods on the video. We actually lived in Ingleses which was great (aside from the summer season)

    What good content about the island, brother! Very detailed and well-explained. I am a Campeche lover hahaha, the place is beautiful and it's structured in a way that you don't need to leave. You have everything there, bars, clubs, beaches, cafes, chill places, crowded places. Most importantly, it's one of the fastest-growing neighborhoods on the island, so it's moving to get better and better. Loved your video!

    Hey Tucker, I had commented on this video but for some reason it disappeared . I would like to retire in Floripa and love all the input on the different cities you mentioned. I'm originally from Barbados but live in the USA and Florianopolis intrigues me greatly.
    My questions are - 1. How's the transportation without a car ? Is the food, vegetables and fruits affordable including dining out options. Is it the safest place in Brazil? I know that no place is perfect but hope it's not like Salvador or Rio. I'm seeking a beautiful,
    humble, loving and friendly lady and for this question I welcome feedback from both your lovely girl and yourself. Thanks

    • @americaninbrasil
      @americaninbrasil  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I have never used the public transportation but I have noticed, and heard, that it is very reliable here. I used UBER to get around before buying a car and it is extremely affordable and easy to find.
      In terms of costs for food it is more expensive then other areas of Brazil but still affordable compared to the US. You can eat at a nice restaurant for under $20. I have another video where I break down the costs here on the island.
      As for safety it is fantastic. My wife feels comfortable walking in our neighborhood at night or going pretty much anywhere on the island. The people are friendly and good natured from what I have experienced and I think it is probably one of, if not the most, livable city in Brazil.

    Any good neighborhoods you know of that are fairly cheap and walkable to the beach and close to trails? Close to a gym like Smartfit? My wife is Brazilian so we don't need to be in an expat catering area. Thanks. Great videos.

    • @americaninbrasil
      @americaninbrasil  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Good and close to the beach that are also cheap are hard to find but Ingleses, where we lived, was the closest thing to all 3. It is fairly crowded because it is the most populated neighborhood on the island but in Ingleses Norte, outside of the busy season, it is extremely quiet. I would also look at Santinho and Acores.

    Tucker, we made it to Brasil for Christmas and we are currently enjoying lunch with family at the O Capitão restaurant in Piçarras. We hope that you and your family are well and had a wonderful Feliz Natal and Feliz Ano Novo. I applied for my CPF on Friday. I am a little worried about how difficult it will be to return to Brasil after the new visa requirements go into affect. I still have 6 years before Ivone and I can retire to Piçarras or Navagantes.

    Tucker do you have any opinions about Sao Joao do Rio Vermelho? The real estate prices seem reasonable, and I like the videos that I have watched about the Red Park neighborhood. Also, are there any areas close to the beach in Florianopolis that are more flood prone or are experiencing more than average beach erosion?

    • @americaninbrasil
      @americaninbrasil  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Rio Vermelho was a place we were also looking at before moving here but honestly it is one of the worst neighborhoods (infrastructure wise) on the island. Some of the homes that we looked at were beautiful but there is only one road through the neighborhood and some of the streets are over a mile long and you have nothing along that mile stretch except for a long narrow road. However, Mocambique is an amazing beach and it is in that neighborhood and the nature surrounding it is pretty incredible.
      Lots of the island, especially the low lying areas flood during cyclone season and with heavy rains. Here in the north when we have a few days of rain we can't access other neighborhoods because of flooding in the streets.
      As for beach erosion I know in the south like Pantano do Sul that is more of a problem with some of the homes butting up to the water but I haven't heard of that on any other parts of the island.

      @@americaninbrasil Thank you so much for your input. When watching TH-cam videos in the states it is hard to get a full perspective sometimes as to what the big picture is. I can't wait to check out the market in centro Florianópolis.

    • @americaninbrasil
      @americaninbrasil  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, I have been in Brazil for 2.5 years now and I can say that Floripa is definitely the safest of all the places by far. I have a one year old daughter and we would go on walks at night. I can't speak for every neighborhood on the island but in terms of the places in this video, I have been to them all multiple times and they are all safe.
