Some of the best cities in Brazil are inside the state of São Paulo: Sorocaba, Piracicaba, Indaiatuba, Itu, Bauru, São José do Rio Preto, and São Caetano do Sul, Santos close to the sea. They are a modern, developed and safe (except those closer to the sea, that may have more problems with security).

i 've lived in england and Scotland for 8 years, and i think we may find good deals here in Brazil and find a nice and cozy place to live. There is one city called São José dos Campos, which is really wealth city, headquarters of best Tech universities and institutions of Brasil, and Embraer, Military Tech Complex, Enginnering and drone companies. Plus, SJC is near the coast and the amazing montains of Minas Gerais and São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro City as well. São José may be an amazing city to live in terms of Brazil. Put it in your list as well. You be amazed what you can discover in surrounding areas! Thanks Nordic!
Florianópolis used to be so safe and clean in the 90s. Real estate was really affordable too. But now it's crime-ridden and prices of housing have gone thru the roof.
Hi, i was thinking about move to Brazil and whenever i did research about quality of life there, somehow it always gravitated toward one city in the interior of Sao Paulo, and that city is Piracicaba, near Campinas. It's similar to Jundiai regarding the quality of life and crime, but it's also cheaper. I think you should definitely check it out!
In my opinion, this cities like: Jundiaí, Indaiatuba, Vinhedo, Itú, Campinas are the best places to live in Brazil. Near the beches, near the montains, best Universities, best jobs, near São Paulo, near Vira Copos airport etc. Safety nunbers beter than USA and Canada Cities.
in fact, they are great cities, with good indicators. but for me they are not beautiful cities and I believe that urban beauty is very important to have admiration for a place.

About Sorocaba: Big, modern, near SP Capital, loads of international companies, amazing SESC Cultural centre, good Zoo and Bothanical Garden, lots of bicicle paths.... Indaiatuba: one of best urban parks in the whole Brazil, cutting all the city from east to west... rich, safe, very few miles from a huge international airport.... there is no other medium size city in Brazil that can be compared with Indaiatuba... (Jaraguá do Sul could be the closest comparison, but still far away from Indaiatuba regarding jobs, logistics, location, etc)

I feel like Chapecó in western Santa Catarina should make the list, its a 250k people city that is very chill to live in, the only "con" is that it is far away from the coast
I like your list. But yes I would consider the suburb in the city or a nearby town. The summer beach season is full on and soo hot. Good for a young person but a retiree, hmm. Vitoria in winter is much more interesting than the summer (for me). Curitiba is not as cold in winter as I first thought but it is humid. Brasilia has very low humidity which I found uncomfortable. Good airport connections though. Maringa is very hot in summer, very nice in winter. Franca is an interesting one. But none of these is my favorite :)).
Very good List indeed , I would just swap Jundiaí or Blumenau for São José dos Campos also in Sao Paulo Outskirts, which from my perpective is THE BEST BIG CITY to live in Brazil... the reasons: 1 -> São José dos Campos is the first Inteligent city in Brazil, has maybe biggest technological spot in whole latin America; 2-> Headquartes of Jhonson & Jhonson, Panasonic, Embraer, etc... 3-> Murder rates (6,5) below 10 murders per 100thousand inhabitants, which is very good for brazilian standards and very low robery rates; 4-> PERFECT location (1hour drive from GRU airport, the largest International airport in S.America),; 5-> 1 hour 20min. drive to the (Mantiqueira Mountains Range, Monte Verde, Campos do Jordão etc); 6-> 1 hour 10min to North Coast Sea of Sao Paulo (Caraguá, Ilhabela, Ubatuba, Paraty RJ) 7-> Relatively big expat comunity 8 -> Infraestructure (Some of best roads in Brazil (Carvalho Pinto, Tamoios); 9-> Between São Paulo and Rio; 10-> Very Modern and clean city, high income population, high number of doctors per inhabitant, loads of green areas; I would take out Jundai? -> Too close to Sao Paulo Capital, you keep the having the caos feeling of Sao Paulo..heheheh I would take out Blumenau -> Bad location, poor logistics infraestructure (roads to reach are very simple), backwards minded oriented people (of course not all of them, but many)

Unfortunately, this is a common issue in Brazil-I just don't have a sense of security in metropolitan areas. I feel like something bad may be about to happen in Europe due to some global tensions. If you're a digital nomad thinking about the future and looking for something like a lifeboat, Brazil is a great option. Southern Brazil, particularly the state of Santa Catarina, is a good choice where you can find peace and tranquility.

I have already lived in Blumenau and Florianópolis are good cities, by way of the tourists the cost of living is expensive, but good cities, maybe I put on the list Belo Horizonte and Goiânia
Curitiba is turning into kinda of a gourmet city. About 10 15 years ago, you could get cheaper life style. For example a bakery and supermarket here were in mu neighborhood were more simple back there but very cheap. Nowdays services are getting a bit fancy and way more expensive. The city is great but Im thinking of moving out.

To begin with, they are among the leaders in quality of life, low crime rates, technology, transportation infrastructure, employability, high education levels, etc. Check It out.
I think countryside in Brazil is quite different from the countryside around the world. Whereas in the world people think the will have a good quality of living in cities, in Brazil, a lot of regions it is is quite developed.
I also like POA and SP but I did not include them as SP is very expensive and POA has problems with crime and flooding. But this is only my personal opinion, I respect yours
Fortaleza is amazing. The beira mar is super safe so don't be afraid for the high murder rates of the city. But yes once you go more inwards it's more dangerous.

Using the homicide rate to gauge the safety of a Brazilian city can be a red herring due to inequity. The vast majority of violent crimes happen in the poorest areas of the cities in which a foreigner will never set foot. Risk of property theft is another matter, although I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s a correlation there.
I would not agree with Blumenau. There is only one small park in the city, called Ramiro Ruediger. In the summer its too hot. The mountains around are the cause of that. The city is very loud (cars) and to go hiking you need a car and a whole day..
Correction: infraestruture in Belo Horizonte is terríble, much worse than São Paulo, Paraná etc. The roads, Parks, metro, bus Lines, services are very bad. No comparison with State of São Paulo and Paraná cities. Economy is much worse. Guarulhos is much safer than here. Im from Guarulhos SP and now Im living in BH.😢
I was considering a visit to Belo Horizonte next time I visit. During my previous visit in December I spent time in Floripa. I flew there from Montevideo where in 2023 there was a severe drought. The irony is that not too far north there were devastating floods. I am not sure what the people in Floripa are like because I did not have the chance to speak with many people. I have been studying Portuguese every day since last September. It has been easier because I already speak Spanish well ( caveat, easy if you study every day). The people seemed to be a bit more aggressive and the housing prices are definitely higher on the island. I am really looking forward to your review of smaller towns nearby. I have researching, but information from a local who has spent more time in Brazil would be valuable.

Belo Horizonte is the best big city in Brazil. Low crime rate, good infrastructure, restaurants, one of the best universities in the country. I would only move from here to São Paulo or Brasília.

I would not agree with Blumenau. There is only one small park in the city, called Ramiro Ruediger. In the summer its too hot. The mountains around are the cause of that. The city is very loud (cars) and to go hiking you need a car and a whole day..

Correction: infraestruture in Belo Horizonte is terríble, much worse than São Paulo, Paraná etc. The roads, Parks, metro, bus Lines, services are very bad. No comparison with State of São Paulo and Paraná cities. Economy is much worse. Guarulhos is much safer than here. Im from Guarulhos SP and now Im living in BH.😢

I was considering a visit to Belo Horizonte next time I visit. During my previous visit in December I spent time in Floripa. I flew there from Montevideo where in 2023 there was a severe drought. The irony is that not too far north there were devastating floods. I am not sure what the people in Floripa are like because I did not have the chance to speak with many people. I have been studying Portuguese every day since last September. It has been easier because I already speak Spanish well ( caveat, easy if you study every day). The people seemed to be a bit more aggressive and the housing prices are definitely higher on the island. I am really looking forward to your review of smaller towns nearby. I have researching, but information from a local who has spent more time in Brazil would be valuable.
@@Stoney-g1o People from Floripa are welcoming and helpful generally. But There are many imigrants arraving so maybe It is kind of stressing for them. Better live in a less touristic city in Santa Catarina.
Belo Horizonte is the best big city in Brazil. Low crime rate, good infrastructure, restaurants, one of the best universities in the country. I would only move from here to São Paulo or Brasília.

I'm Brazilian, unfortunately the cities was good cities in the past,now is home of drugs addicts,homeless in every neighborhood of the city, it's a pity, Brazil is a wonderful country,but in this moment with this bad government etc,that is not good idea to move to Brazil,must of Brazilian are leaving Brazil..
