The Biggest Differences Between USA & Brazil
What are some of the biggest differences between the US and Brazil? In this video Sammy and I discuss some of them including culture, family, food, safety, driving, and a few more. What do you think about these differences? Would you add anything else to the list? We will do a part 2 soon for all of the things that we couldn't cover in this video.

Visiting A Sítio In Manaus
มุมมอง 368หลายเดือนก่อน
A sítio is just a big piece of land where one grows fruits and vegetables. My father-in-law took me out to his Sítio right on the frontier of Manaus and the Amazon rainforest. He grows papaya, patauá, açaí, cupuaçu, cashew, kale, onion, peppers, and also raises fish. All on about 4.5 acres of land. It is amazing how rich the soil is in this part of the world. I got to walk the whole site and se...

Amazon River Trip (Part I) th-cam.com/video/DC2VJg649X4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=rxLAWGV7hp7dqNFH Amazonia is such an amazing region. On this trip we went from Manaus to Autazes and then to a little community about 50 km south where we stayed the night. We went down the Amazon River and the Madeira, which is one of the biggest tributaries of the Amazon. The second part of the River Trip was one of the sca...
Museum of the Amazon (MUSA)- Hidden Gem in Manaus
มุมมอง 2272 หลายเดือนก่อน
MUSA (Museum of the Amazon) is such a cool park where the city of Manaus meets the Amazon rainforest. The park is huge and has an incredible observation tower that overlooks the forest for as far as the eye can see as well as the city of Manaus. There are fossils of giant crocodiles (42 feet) and sloths (20 feet) in an outdoor auditorium off of a beautiful trail. There is also a cultural center...
Amazon River Trip (part 1)

Since I can remember I have wanted to go up the Amazon River. This past November I got to make it happen and it was everything I had imagined (except for the lack of anacondas and jaguars). We took the Pimentel Filho V at the Port of Manaus upriver (east) through the night. I didn't know what to expect except that we were going to fish and stay at a friend's house on the river. But what I got w...

    Great video. Thank you for sharing. I’ve just made the move to Floripa and am currently staying in Campeche. A note about Campeche (or at least Campeche Leste) is it is under the flight path so something to consider. While there are hills in the distance, I also find Campeche to be quite flat which I don’t love. Also a lot of the amenities are located on very loud, busy streets such as Pequeno Principal. Novo Campeche to the north seems to be a bit more upscale and luxurious. The cool thing about Campeche is not only does it have one of the best beaches, but it has immediate proximity to some of the other best beaches on the island such as Praia Joaquina/Mole/Galheta to the north and Armacao/Maduarado and lagoinha de leste to the south. If you only have time to visit one beach in Floripa… my vote is Praia Mole 100%! I enjoyed staying in Canasvieras in the north but I’ve found that that area basically gets conquered by tourists (and specifically Argentinians) in the summer time. Two really good hotel recommendations: 1. Hotel Boutique Quinta das Vedras - Lagoa de Conceicao 2. Solar beach hotel - canasvieras I’m available for anyone who has questions about Floripa!

    Abt the classification, I can clarify some parts: the Risk classification is generally done by a Nurse, and usually they use the Manchester protocol to define your priority using the colors -Red: Maximum Emergency, risk of death if not treated in 15 minutes or less -Orange: Urgency, Treatment in 30 minutes max -Yellow: High priority, Treatment in a hour or less -Green: Medium priority, Treatment in Two hours or so -Blue: Low priority, Up to four hours of waiting or so Sometimes, like on winter and during the COVID-19 pandemic, the queue is split into respiratory and non-respiratory problems, and if a pediatric physician is available, kids are queued separately

      We found that apartment on vivareal.com.br That website has the most rentals out of the ones that I used including quintoandar and olx. Most places in Brazil, at least to my knowledge, will come furnished. Our first house in Saquarema was also fully furnished. The biggest problem is having it so furnished that you need to get rid of stuff ha.

    Hey Tucker, did your wife give birth in a hospital or at home? Do you have any recommendations for either one (in Floripa)? I am considering the same route, In Ingleses (Centro or Norte) in the fall (spring in Bras) as we have 3 other children and like the walkability, affordability, fairly quite character, and proximity to the beach.

    • @americaninbrasil
      @americaninbrasil หลายเดือนก่อน

      She gave birth at the Public Hospital in Centro called Carmela Dutra and they were fantastic. She had a natural birth and all of the doctor's who assisted her were great. She was very pleased and I was amazed at how good the public hospital was. We really enjoyed our neighborhood in Ingleses Norte EXCEPT for the summer (Nov-late March) it was unreal how crowded it got. If you are ok with that then you would probably have a great time but I would recommend checking out other areas like Pontas Das Canas (just on the other side of the hill from Ingleses) and Rio Tavares, Campeche, even Centro. I don't regret living there but if we could have found a rental in the other neighborhoods we probably would have ended up there.

    Keep it up man! I met my wife in Brazil back in 2016 on new year’s eve. I was there visiting some mutual friends. I've learned a lot of Portuguese and am conversationally fluent. I grew my vocabulary with duo lingo which helped me to have a basic understanding of what was being said. I listen to a lot of Brazilian music, mainly MPB & Bossa Nova and that has helped to train my ear. Then I keep going back to Brazil and just practice talking with everyone. My wife is from the state of Goias and I met her in Goiania. Ive been to Floripa several times and it's our goal to have a home there and retire there. @americaninbrasil Yeah, my wife and I speak a lot of Portuguese at home. When she moved here in 2018, she didn't speak English yet, and at the time, my "Portuguese" was better than her "English." She's very fluent in English now B we still speak Portuguese around my kids, which iss kind of funny because they're catching on an understanding a lot now. Is there a chance that either you or your wife could go to work for an airline? I was super impressed when my wife came home one day and told me she'd gotten a job with the airline! I was totally blown away. In Brazil she has a degree in IT and always worked in an office. Here, her first job was working at a daycare where the kids ended up learning as much Portuguese as she was learning English. When she started at the airline, she primarily worked ramp, and as her English improved, she became a counter and gate agent. At first, she was part-time, and that still afforded us travel benefits. She's working full-time now and we really benefit from her travel benefits. Depending on where you live, either of you could work for an airline doing customer service over the phone from home, and you can get the flight benefits that way too. What kind of work do you guys do?

    O SUS é um ótimo sistema que só tem dois problemas, falta de investimento e fiscalização. Todos os governos cortaram verbas e grande parte do dinheiro que chega é mal utilizado!
