    Nice video. Philochrony is the theory that describes the nature of time and demonstrates its existence. Time is magnitive: objective (changes), Imperceptible (intervals) and measurable.

  • @mage1over137
    @mage1over137 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Actually even if you are moving at fraction of the speed of light, you time is still moving at the same rate locally. And observer moving relative to you would stay your clock is running slow, but on in there frame.

    Wonderful! iirc Vsauce did a video about why the years seem to fly by faster as you get older, though that's probably unrelated to this phenomenon.

    Guess I wasn't intimidated by the expanding circle... or maybe I already could perdict that all will be the same length anyway and some people might experience a difference there because of the different presentation.

    IMO vividness of color too has some effect on our perception of time. The videos with extremely sharp contrast appear to move faster that the others with lower contrast and brightness.

    Here's what should be a familiar spacetime warp, except I've never heard it discussed before. Look at a two bladed wind turbine from the side at an angle rather than head on and the blades will appear to be turning jerkily, which on reflection they can't be, and indeed turn smoothly at constant speed when viewed head on. Plenty of examples on the net like th-cam.com/video/HXhRB6DKcxs/w-d-xo.html, but observable in reality too.
    The explanation is simple. A circular path (like any circle) looks elliptical from the side. This means the distance covered by any point on a blade looks shorter round the "pointy" ends at the top and bottom of the ellipse than it is along the same part of the fully circular arc. It's as if your brain decides to slow down the apparent speed of the blade to compensate for this shorter apparent distance, and allows it to speed up again when it travels along the flatter sides of the ellipse. Almost like a Kepler's law of motion.
    In fact it's debatable if this is an illusion at all, after all you're not seeing the blades make a complete rotation any faster or slower overall. Instead of a turbine imagine you're looking at a rather speedy big clock from the same angle. You'd be glad that the hand appeared to slow down round 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock before speeding up again otherwise it would look as if time itself was shorter/faster round those times for some reason.
    So "spacetime" rather than just space or just time is the crucial concept. This applies in Vanessa's lovely example at 0:41 "people think the disc coming towards them stayed there for longer". If they said it took up more spacetime, wouldn't they be right?

    What if time slows the more activity that you process? Like each area that is activating adds more slow down.

    The video felt long to me which might be explained by the fact that time feels like it's going slower when we learn new things.
    Also the blue circle seemed to last less because when we see the colour blue time seems to go faster and red seems to slow down time.

    I didn't perceive any difference between the example beats. The only excuse I can think of is that one of my kids is learning percussion, so these days I'm probably 'beat-driven'. If that doesn't explain it, what does?
