I've had the RCT balls w/Mevo Plus since they released so this video of course caught my eye. Really well done & consistent with what I've seen as well. I'd just add that for ppl using golf sim software like e6 or GSPro to expect driver spin to effect distance quite a bit w/out the RCT ball. Once Flightscope approved (patched) their software/unit for RCT the spin lined up with the ridiculously priced launch monitors. Again, really well done & I enjoy your channel & content. Hope to see growth on your channel.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. I was wondering how the RCT worked in sim software and if the mevo plus would still recognize it as well without the FS golf app.
Bending down to place the metallic dot ball in the correct position on every shot was tedious and more so annoying. I bought the RCT balls within a week. Nice to see you did the test. I didn’t realize the italicized component of Mevo before either.
When I first got the Mevo+ I was putting the dot in the right position, then slowly stopped caring, then stopped using them all together because it didn't seem to make a noticeable difference. The RCT balls are awesome.
Clear video with clear explanation of results. Can you also say something about the RCT ball in relation to putting with Mevo+, because I cannot find that ball choice in the Mevo settings of Putting and I often experience problems that the putting stroke is not seen at all or that the stroke produces a very strange result (e.g. a putt from 75 yards or a different direction?). Also often wrong when putting from short distances (less than 4 yards). I use RCT balls. Thanks in advance, greetings from the Netherlands.
I might be wrong but I’m pretty sure I saw somewhere they do not recommend putting with RCT balls and when putting you should switch to a regular ball. Unfortunately I’ve never had a setup with a flat putting surface that I can use the Mevo+ with…
Cool, it’s interesting that the numbers are so close between ball types. I’m using RCT balls because I found the stickers would come off a lot. Also, Spin Axis is a key metric I look at in FS Golf so I’m glad I’m using RCT balls if it helps mevo+ to track the spin rate
Great test, I have heard that rct are designed for accurate for general spin meaning rotations per minute but efficient for side spin which is massive for effects. It would be great to perform the same test curving the trajectories.
Very true. I think it would be much harder to test though because you can’t tell if it’s an estimate of side spin vs actual. If you just compare the numbers I’m not sure if I’m good enough to keep the variation between shots consistent enough to tell what is me and what is the launch monitor lol
@@friendly_golfer true, may be try with extreme trajectories like push slice or pull hooks changing balls every shots. If RCT shots aren’t curved enough it gives an information because mevo+ pro package measures face to target and club path so you can check if your swing was poor enough. I am such a bad golfer I gonna try tomorrow morning.
Just got our simulator up and ready to go with a Mevo + today. Quick question, I know the dot matters with the sticker but we purchased the RCT’s and wanted to know if we need to face the RCT logo towards the screen, toward Mevo + or does it not matter. Glad to hear you like the Mevo + and I appreciate the comparison you did. 👍🏻
Thanks for doing this test. I did an almost identical test, using the ProV1, ProV1x, and -ProV1x no dot, dot, and RCT balls with a 9 iron. Found similar results. However, the question that is still out there is whether any of those number are accurate? All this test shows is the Mevo+ calculates similar results to what it reads, but that’s comparing the Mevo+ to the Mevo+….I don’t have a GC3 or 4 to test it against as that would be more definitive. Can’t really test it against Trackman because both being radar Doppler units, I’ve seen other TH-camrs have trouble with the two units interfering with each other…So, would need a reliable optical unit. I guess we could apply the transitive property (I think that’s right), and test the Mevo+ to the GC4, then compare the GC4 to the Trackman, which would let us compare the Mevo+ to the Trackman! Flashback to 9th grade algebra…FWIW, I now own a SkyTrak, which is optical and intend to do some testing…
Well I just got a Bushnell Launch Pro and planned to try that out! As long as the BLP doesn’t interfere with the Mevo+. I’m curious as well but I already know all of them, including Mevo+ are plenty accurate for me. If I’m able to test it I will make a video in the future.
How was the distance with driver without the metallic dot or RCT? I noticed it was about 10-12 yards short of the metal dot and RCT, is that a normal amount of deviation without using a dot?
The regular ball averaged 233yd carry while the dot had 240yds and RCT 238.5yds. Not a big sample size with only 5 shots on each. All 5 with the regular ball (no dot) had estimated spin. It's not recommended so I really just did it as a "control" for this little test. Overall I've used balls with no dots and found it's generally close enough for me not to notice but of course you're better off using the dot or RCT.
@@friendly_golfer awesome, my 2023 edition arrives tomorrow and I plan on using it to get my club distances and for distance training. I’ll order some RCT balls. Thanks for the video
The PW with the metallic dots only had 1 shot without estimated spin. It was shot #6 (no italics). The italics are really subtle and hard to see unless you look closely and compare to one without. Bought a dozen because of this and they work exactly as you stated they would and a lot easier than those silly stickers
Awesome! Much better than the stickers!
Great review!!! Mevo+ actually does a great job with/without the "radar" help. Just wonder how much ball flight do you have to screen?
Thanks! Just over 10ft to the screen
He literally said it in the video

They are definitely more convenient than the stickers!

No radar monitor measures spin axis directly but infer it from club data and launch conditions.

With RCT balls it doesn’t matter! Enjoy!
Hey, where did you get that gray mat under the putting mat? im looking to raise my putting mat. thanks!
They are just 1" foam tiles from amazon. They have different thicknesses and some colors are cheaper than others. amzn.to/3GW3kaR

Nice job dude. Channel looks great and great review !!! Keep at it please !
Thank you! Glad to hear that man!
Im not seeing what you are saying about the dot and italics for the spin for the second set. The numbers look all the same

can you putt with these on the mevo plus?
It’s recommended you switch to a regular ball when putting.
The best place for this is gonna be for wedges where sometimes you get super low spin numbers for no reason
Hope it helps!
How do you see, if it‘s calculated oder measured? Thx
If it’s estimated the spin number will be in italics.
1) Glad I didn't buy a pack of RCT balls.
2) Love my MEVO+ - best 2k usd i've spent in golf.
#2 I hear often!
They’re trash broke one the other day, a golf ball shouldn’t break just from hitting it.
How long had you had it in use?
