I’m so glad that I ran into this video. Thank you for answering pretty much all my questions. I’m planning on purchasing a Mevo Plus and all I have is a hitting net, iPad and tv. I was wondering if that would be enough to start out with and you definitely answered that question. Once again Thank You for your dedication and hard work because I know these videos are time consuming and not easy to set up. Looking forward to any and all videos you currently have and any future ones. Thanks again!
Great video, thank you for sharing so many options to get up and going. If you have any info on a good short throw projector I would sure appreciate you input. I have the mevo+ and very satisfied, did a home built using gungho golf retractable hitting screen and side screens. Would like better quality visual on the hitting screen. yours seems so clear and defined. Thanks.
Most people use puzzle piece foam tiles to build their flooring and put turf over the top. You can use them for the runway also. In the video description there’s a link to the ones I have from Amazon but you’ll just want to try to match the thickness to your hitting mat. I’ve also heard of people using rubber horse stall mats and insulation boards from Home Depot.
I could be wrong about this but I want to say the hitting area is a 16" circle. So from the center of the hitting area it would read 8" away in any direction.
Nice video, can you clarify if you need the 1 level runway if not using putting? In other words is it needed if only hitting with irons etc ? I feel like with all the videos on different t channels that if you don't have like 13 feet or more from the ball to screen that the side spin is not accurate enough to see the true flight and numbers? And better ofv with skytrak....is that a fair statement? I only have total of 18 feet from mevo+ to screen. All comments welcome from any mevo+ users.
I would say everything on the same surface is pretty mandatory for putting and not as much for normal shots. You can adjust for the height of the mat in tee height settings. Sounds like you have just enough space. I've never had more than 10-11ft of ball flight indoors so I'm not sure if 13ft would improve anything more. Both Mevo+ and Skytrak have complaints about the accuracy of their algorithm and still tons of happy users. Mevo+ gives you a lot more options for data with the pro package. Skytrak would be less dependent on your setup. Skytrak won't work well outdoors if that matters to you. I think the foresight gc3 or Bushnell launch pro would is the next step up. Not setup dependent, very accurate indoors, but more expensive. Also Uneekor eye mini is coming out soon.
Hey, thanks for the video. My question has to deal with interference. With my setup in my garage I would be placing the Mevo right next to a freezer unit. Do you think that will effect it in anyway?
Thanks! Unfortunately it probably could. The user manual lists refrigerators as an example of appliances that give off electronic noise and can interfere. Typically I think people are more worried about interference than they need to be but you just never know for sure until you try it. Maybe you could chat with Flightscope support to find out more or see what your options are.
Thanks for the video. Very helpful! You mentioned you have a video showing you how to use E6 driving range. I can’t seem to locate it on your channel. Can you point me in the right direction?
I don’t currently have one. Maybe I said that I would do one? I don’t remember. Good news is I literally just filmed one yesterday and it will probably be out next week.
Couple quick questions. 1) space not being an issue for a home simulator area…would you recommend mevo or bushnell pro. Mainly for gaming against friends, and occasional working on my swing at home. 2)how do you connect the mevo plus to projector if there is no PC involved?
If you’re mainly using for indoor simulation I would recommend the launch pro. It’s a better experience indoors but you will have a $500/yr subscription and if you have lefties you’ll have to move it back and forth. For the Mevo+ if you don’t have a PC you just need an HDMI adapter to connect an iPad to your projector. Depending on the iPad either a lightning to HDMI or USB C to HDMI adapter. There’s lots of pros and cons to everything and they are dependent on each person’s situation. If you need more help feel free to shoot me an email: bobby@friendlygolfer.com
Thanks. Really close to pulling the trigger on buying a Mevo+. I’m a lefty and all my friends are right handed. With that in mind, approximately how much can you move ball left or right of center target line. Also, with saving wear and tear on hitting mat in mind, how far towards and away from unit can you move ball (while of course keeping 8’-10’ limits). Thanks again
I looked around to try and confirm this and couldn’t but I think the hitting area is a 16” circle. I think I remember it being 16” but that’s what I couldn’t confirm. If that’s correct you have 8” in any direction from the center of the hitting zone.
Odd question. I put a screen up this weekend and I begin hitting into it. It is so loud when I hit into it. It sounds like a gun going off. Is that normal? Or is it a screen issue?
What kind of screen or material is it? Mine is definitely not that loud. The impact from the club and ball is louder than the ball hitting the screen I think. I tried hanging 13 oz. vinyl banner material behind my screen and to reduce bounce back and that made it super loud like you’re describing. I guess it was too hard so I took it off immediately.
I am helping my father in law with his Mevo set up. I did not see any examples in your video of a set up with the projector on the floor. Should I be talking him into installing a ceiling mount? The projector seems to be right in the way of everything. Every set up I've seen has the hitting area directly behind the camera too. Thoughts?
I think most would tell you to ceiling mount the projector if you can just to get it out of the way. I've seen some people complain that the projector on the floor bothers them and it probably would bother me. It was a pain in the ass to mount correctly but once it's done its done. Two resources for mounting projectors: www.projectorcentral.com/projection-calculator-pro.cfm This will tell you the correct positioning for your projector and screen size. th-cam.com/video/o-lG1sfwzms/w-d-xo.html this video shows you how to mount it and adjust the resolution from your PC to fill the entire screen.
Thanks for all work you do on these videos. I just built a diy enclosure and bought mevo+, unfortunately the unit arrived without the USB cable and charging block. Flight scope is sending it but Will not arrive till tuesday.....what a bummer. I fired up the unit briefly since it did have a charge and i am concerned about my brief results. My setup from unit to screen is 18 ft. I setup 7.5 to ball and 10.5 ball to screen. I was using the FS golf app and had couple quick questions: 1) it only showed two setup options limited flight and outdoor. It did not have a short indoor....is that correct? 2) there is a height difference unit to ball of 1 inch so I put that info in the setup. My mat sits on laminate flooring and mevo+ was directly on the laminate floor. Do you have any experience with setup with different levels? Thanks again John
1. One of the recent updates eliminated the short indoor option so now it’s just limited flight. 2. You should add the 1” difference in the tee height setting like you mentioned. This will help it adjust for the difference but it will not help for putting. It really shouldn’t cause a problem for full swings. If you want putting or want it to be setup as perfect as possible you should add foam tiles or something else to fill in the gaps. So the flooring is equal all the way from the mevo+ to your mat to the screen. Thanks and congrats on your new setup!
Hey friendly Golfer, thanks for the video, it was great to see other setups. Wondering if you have some advice for an issue I am having with my mevo plus and gspro. I have a garage setup also but I noticed my irons and wedges are accurate in comparison for distance but driver and hybrid are way off. I am only getting driver distance of 180 when I average around 250 on the course. Any idea what setting I need to fix or try? thanks.
Glad you enjoyed. That's a common issue but it could be a lot of different reasons. Here are some things it could be: 1. Indoor Swing Syndrome - you're not swinging your long clubs as freely as you normally would on the course. Even though you feel like you are you really aren't. I still get in ruts where this happens to me and it's hard to loosen up. 2. You can try adding more space for ball flight. Flightscope says minimum of 8ft but many say 10-11ft works better. 3. If you are getting a lot of estimated spin numbers (in italics) try switching to Titleist RCT balls. 4. Make sure your elevation settings are correct in GSPro. 5. Mevo+ algorithm is a little short for high speed clubs. When I compared each shot with my bushnell launch pro, my driver carry distances were usually 5-10yds shorter. Nothing like you described though. 6. Flightscope has had a lot of recent updates for the PC version, face impact location, etc. and people are complaining that it has really screwed everything up. I avoided updating but if you are on the most recent firmware version you might want to give them a little bit to release a fix. I know that's a lot of possibilities but I would guess it's mainly #1 or #6. Unless the problem is only in GSPro and then the elevation is all I can really think of. Hope it works out!
Can you explain the sim software? Do you need e6 or other sim software to be able to run a sim? Or can you just use the mevo plus? Do you need a projector?
The mevo+ comes with a license for e6 so you can use that to play courses (comes with 12). You can also use the Flightscope app for driving range & data collection (no courses). Both of those can be run on an iPad, phone, or PC. If you want the best simulator software (such as GSPro) you will need a gaming pc to run it. You don't necessarily need a projector. You can display the software on a TV or monitor and hit into a net if you want.
I think the best thing you can do for driver is try to get at least 10-12 feet of ball flight if you can and then use the Titleist RCT balls. I just did a review video of the RCT balls if you want to check it out.
@@friendly_golferI watched the video the other day, great content. I have the RCTs myself, so far so good, just the driver is a sticking point still (though it worked well once since the new update). I think the answer is as you say, to get further back from my net. I have the sporina spa-7 and love it, but might need to move to the spa-8 to be comfortable because I hit it high. I actually reached out to Flightscope and they called me and walked through a test to run. I’m currently waiting for feedback, but that’s great customer service IMO.
I am having the same issue with driver distances and 3 wood. I play enough to know my averages are around 250yd drives and i'll be lucky if Mevo thinks i carry 215. I will look into the RCT balls after your other video. I only have 9 feet of flight time from ball to screen but i worry getting any further way, my 9 foot ceilings would take a beating with my wedges or other shots.
@@friendly_golfer Thanks for the advice. I decided the the Mevo+ would be the better option as long as I move the planned set-up to the garage. Appreciate all of your info.
I don't know a ton about projectors. I own the BenQ TH671ST. I would say this: Make sure you plan your projector using the throw calculator at www.projectorcentral.com/projection-calculator-pro.cfm Having a projector with zoom and/or vertical and horizontal keystone adjustment gives you a lot of wiggle room to make sure the screen is filled perfectly. 4K will cost you a whole lot more on the projector and PC and will marginally improve the picture. I'm sure it's great but nobody complains about 1080p so it's probably not worth the thousands more you will spend. That said, those that have 4K usually have the budget and don't regret it either... The projector was the most annoying part of setting up my simulator.
What are the shortest putts you can get the mevo to consistently read? I was struggling with it reading a single putt and then wouldn't read any more without a rearm. Also it wouldn't read anything less than 8-10 feet.
I never paid attention to the putt distance but I also never got mine to consistently read putts. From what I've read the people with the best results putting have an inset hitting mat that's level with the flooring all the way to the screen and at least a runway back to the mevo plus. At some point I will probably make my setup like this.
I've recently tested putts that roll approximately 5-6' for a putt in gspro over 30ft with no issue. mevo+ angle is set to 11.5. I normally putt 7 ft from mevo and 9ft to screen.
I have never played TGC 2019 so I can’t speak from experience but I’ve heard a lot of people say they switched over to GSPro from TGC. GSPRO is frequently updated with improvements and it’s much less expensive. I think 9 out of 10 would say go with GSPro.
Please make a comparison of the bushnell compared to the mevo plus for putting. I’d imagine many potential buyers would like to see distance and lateral dispersion differences between the two devices.
I definitely plan to make a comparison video for the two but it might be a little while. I can say 100% that the BLP makes putting a lot easier. Doesn’t matter what your setup is like, you can putt easily. Seems pretty accurate too.
@@friendly_golfer from everything I see online bushnell is expected to perform better than mevo for putting. I’m curious how close the mevo plus is to the bushnell. If mevo plus is set up properly. Fyi I went to you website and posted below comment and it said the form would not submit
Thanks I’ll check that out!
