Excellent work once again- you're a natural tutor matey.Nice model- makes me wish I played BA's Learnt a lot from this though- especially the wings. Thanks:)
I recently completed my first Sanguinary Guard. I will end up selling it and getting another one. One thing I recommend from my experience, is to paint the models in sections. Paint the wings and the arms separate from the rest of the model. It would be tons easier. I spent more time farting around with fixing mistakes than I did actual painting.
A friendly suggestion :) At the end of your video, I would love to know how many hours it took to complete each model. Even a rough estimate would be lovely. Thanks for these, very helpful for a noobie like myself.
Awesome guide and well painted, my advice would be to get a script up on a second monitor(or just on paper) to help with explaining the steps while also watching the video.
Thank you, great vid. I have painted a few of these and do not like my results. I will try drybrushing the gold highlight on the armor as you have done here. I have used Vallejo liquid gold which is a great paint but I screwed it up somehow.
Great video once again! Quick question - I really liked the detail brush you used to do the highlighting on the metal and face areas. Could you tell me what brand and size brush it is? Really like the short bristles, looks like it controls well!
Hey, I was wondering do you put the retarder in the paint pot and paint straight from it to the model, (and to save wastage of paint) or do you mix it on a palet? Some great tutorials on your channel and the results are awesome! thank you for taking the time.
Great tutorial, question though if you dont mind. how would you approach the chapter banner? I have seen other methods but I like your style of painting and would love to know how you would do it.
Hey mate, I REALLY dislike the fact that this model is showing his face, do they provide enough heads in the Sanguiary Guard set to pick and choose whether I want my squad to be fully helmeted or not?
You could carefully drybrush but drybrushing overall gives a messy appearance if it isnt done correctly. By layering you can go back and forward with wash and layer color if you make a mistake
Balthasar gold is awful to basecoat the model. One of the worst metallic paints in this aspect, I had to heavily watered it down and then paint 3 coats. But besides, I like the colour, not as orange as the older paints from citadel range.
Its easier to paint the gold on a brown under coat IMO......I undercoated my Sanguinary guard in Mournfang brown.....then base coated in a 1/1 balthasar/lahmian medium...no issues with coverage or with consistency....hope this helps
Mike Whittaker Yeah, that's true, I use, depending on the situation, base layer of brown or silver before painting gold elements. But when I paint gold/silver armours I dont use base layers at all, because I want to get smooth and metalic layer. Here is my problem with Balthasar Gold, it somehow covers models much worst than shining gold/chainmail. Havent tried so far lahmian medium, maybe it would help with consisntency?
Brother2314 I completely agree about the paint in answer, yes the Lahmian medium does help with the consistency for me. But I think any liquid retarder would help. Water just doesn't seem to have the same effect in thinning it down. I have heard that other paints such as Vallejo are better in metallic. I notice the GW gold separates very quickly and so I have to shake the pot overtime I apply more to the Pallette. I noticed this a lot as I was painting 5 gold armoured models in one go. Im fairly happy with the smooth finish on my models but they aren't Golden Demon entries or anything. I also tend to paint XV88 GW paint as a base for any gold detail on any model. This also has the same effect as the brown undercoat. Works well for me........
0/10 didn't paint on eyes or the bolt gun skull. Terrible model But to be serious, the model looks beautifully painted, even though the lack of eyes annoy me. I'd love to try this technique but I don't want to buy a bunch more paints.
I am going to have to watch this video multiple times because I really like the clean look you achieved. thanks.
awesome guide, really great end result

Simple, effective and easy to understand, even for the foreigners who badly speak English.
Good work.
Very beautiful paint job!

Great work. You make it simple and easy.
Good tutorial man and the model looks great.

Awsome will defo try
Nice model
Hi! Good guide. I am not convinced on the white base. How about using a black? But to assemble wings separated.

Gran tutorial amigo :)
What are the piping on the power pack for, I always though exhaust and wanted to drill them out, thoughts on this?
could just use retributor armor spray primer would dramatically speed up the process and get pretty similar results of think
What brushes do you use? And great job! Thanks for the tutorial.
Have you tried the Vallejo liquid gold. I'm a big fan of the range.
I always liked GWs metallics but Vallejo matte colors
Great tutorial, question though if you dont mind. how would you approach the chapter banner? I have seen other methods but I like your style of painting and would love to know how you would do it.
Any thoughts on doing the SG chapter banner??
does this work with Ultramarines too?
Hey what do you use to attach the model to the old paint can? Great video!
+Vincent Mongelluzzo try some dough =)
Love your videos but what's the reason for not uploading for ages at a time :P
Hey mate, I REALLY dislike the fact that this model is showing his face, do they provide enough heads in the Sanguiary Guard set to pick and choose whether I want my squad to be fully helmeted or not?
Yeah, I understand that but I really dont know. i dont collect BA but im sure you can find bits on ebay or use tactical marines helmets if you want
Bloodstainer there is 5 death mask helmets AND 5 regular helmets in the pack.
Allurian thanks!
Isn't there a better way of doing the wings without such a huge risk of messing up :O

it really isnt hard to do anyway , but this is coming from a Ravenwing-spam Dark Angels player who is sorta used to wings

That Guy ravenwing spam ftw! (I spam DW)
Bloodstainer yeah , technically i have all kinds of DA , but ravenwing-spam has proven to be really effective
A heretic painting glorious blood angels?! HERESY! *blam*
