That’s my hope, is that by using equipment like this I’m exposing people to things they haven’t seen before. Appreciate you being here. Thanks for watching.
Nice Mike!!! They make a dual gauge kit to tram the table. I don't know if you say mine. They are a little spendy but work pretty nice. The arm indicator is called a Jewlers dial indicator, I think. I picked one up on Ebay for not too much along with the rod (I think is 1/2" and fits into a collet.) RAWK!!!
Yes, I definitely watched your episode. I’ve never used the dual indicator set up, I’ve done it this way many times before and it’s crude but effective. Thank you for reminding me that it’s called a jewelers indicator. It’s on my list along with 1 million things. Lol.
May I suggest something that might make this operation a lot simpler. Find a short piece of 8-inch diameter thick wall tubing maybe half inch wall thickness about 2 inches tall.Set it up in the lathe and cut the ends parallel to each other within 1,000th of an inch creating what I call a tram ring now you have a continuous surface on which to set your indicator and don't have to touch it to raise it above the T slots. Another thing I noticed is that when you started to tram did not set the table locks on machines that can be important to keep the table from moving if you bump it.
Thanks I appreciate that. I didn’t realize how much I missed using this type of equipment. I’m so excited to get the big lathe going - one of these days soon… Maybe before year end
Nice, great to see it coming along. RAWK
I can’t believe how much I use that thing
Interesting ! Never worked with any machinists equipment. I’m just a backyard hack with my own cars & trucks. Good viewing 👍

Nice Mike. You are making me want to get a bigger mill than my hobby mill.
Every day I walk in the shop and I have to pinch myself. I am so grateful to my nephew for letting me use this.

That’s a really good idea and I appreciate it. Thanks for that suggestion. I might implement that.
PS happy Machining
