    I have a suggestion for the army truck. Put some weight on top of the rear axle to compensate for the weight you put on front. That will give you much more traction

    • @frankbodenschatz173
      @frankbodenschatz173 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      That's probably what the issue was, you need to compensate for all the fro t weight.

      Anyone who’s lived in an area with A LOT of snow knows this. I’ve driven past countless trucks stuck in the snow because they have NOTHING in the back. If you review the footage the back tires are spinning while the front are the only ones doing the work.

    • @marklar7551
      @marklar7551 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      you don't want too much weight however, might look for someplace to weigh front and back to get a good balance for snow throwing

    • @chris.eskimo
      @chris.eskimo ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Maybe a jersey wall section would be appropriate for a counter weight, in the rear? Easy to remove and store.

      Fill it full of sand and/or gravel. Good for weight and you can spread it on the road if required.

    The blower is making the truck front heavy, you need ballast in the truck bed so the rear wheels can provide some traction.

    I have a suggestion for your laundry / dryer. Build a double chamber lint trap and vent the dryer indoors during winter or when it's cold. Venting outside you lose all that heat energy plus the negative pressure pulls cold air in from outside. It will help with heating inside, provide some humidity to dry, winter air, reduce load on batteries, and smell nice if you use fabric softener. I have done this seasonally for years and the only downside I've found is you can't do multiple loads on the same day because the windows start to fog up. As far as a lint trap, I used two 5 gallon buckets in series with lids with a little soapy water in them.

After a dozen years I finally got mine last year and it's so much easier to do laundry now (and you are 14 inches taller than me!) The shop looks fantastic! Mine is full of open shelves instead of cabinets, and I need to re-do that (welding dust etc is a pain). Looks like you went with IKEA instead of metal, an idea we will have to seriously consider. Seeing what you were able to do building one from scratch gave me motivation to tackle mine. Will be exciting to see the next one! Curious if you’ve made any upgrades to water supply and disposal to support the addition of a washing machine?

    Looking forward to hearing about new things to come! MTCW, You guys might want to install a water shut-off valve with easy access, just above the shop sink, for your new washer. They are a great safety item that is easy/quick to use. I installed 2 so far. One was at our other house decades ago and the second one was here shortly after we moved in. NOTE: Because I couldn't post it here for your convenience - I sent a picture of what I did and how it looks to your Facebook messenger. A single lever turns it on or off quickly. Great peace of mind - knowing you don't have to be concerned about leaks or those hoses bursting while you are away. We turn it off after every use. Hope its helpful. Tony

      I bet a building inspector would have a bit of a freak-out seeing how they enclosed the water heater with no means of quick access. Idaho is rather permissive on people doing HVAC, electrical, and plumbing on their own residences, and for the most part just goes by the National and (where applicable) International codes.
      Having had a water heater spring a leak (fortunately with a pan and exterior drain) and having had to replace thermostats and elements before that, I definitely would not want it sealed up like that. I only found the leak because the heater was easily visible in a closet. Opened the door and "What's that? Uh-oh, we need a new water heater!"

    I’m watching your video this morning. I love the cabinet buildout. I noticed that you guys put the washer on the bottom and the 2x4 at the bottom in front of it. All looks great! The challenge is the door at the bottom left is the water clean out. I have to drain mine once a month. Sadly, you may want to raise it the 4” higher to be able to easily clean it out. I had to learn the hard way that it had to be up off the ground.
    Love what you do💕

    Your cabinets and sink are a great improvement in your laundry area. The car hood turned into a sled was fantastic especially when Riley washed and waxed the hood to make it go faster. Did both of you go down on the sled together? Selling the camper was bitter-sweet because of your fond memories in the build and travels. Many blessings to you great folks.

    It's bittersweet saying goodbye to your wonderful camper, but great to think how another family can make great memories with it too!!
    I love your storage cabinets in your workshop corner. I have a bit of a concern through winter though, with plumbing on an exterior wall, in a corner, and then all enclosed by the cabinetry. I know it's PEX, and that can tolerate freezing pretty well, and while the washer/dryer and/or hot water heater are running, there will be residual heat to keep plumbing warm. Maybe a bit of heat trace, or a tiny heater in there?

    Hi Courtney and Riley, In the washer and dryer cabinet, make sure you can access the clean out drain at the bottom of the washer. You should need to open it and clean out the screen every quarter to keep the mold smell down. They also suggest you leave the washerl and detergent doors open to let it all dry out.

    • @redmach12003
      @redmach12003 ปีที่แล้ว
