Remember to clear the chute and feeder screws of the blower to prevent them from being frozen when you want to use the blower next time. Also to keep the snow from sticking spray the chute with cooking spray before and after use. The cheap stuff works
@@stephendoing2253 Is there anything that WD-40 can't do? Yeah, a ton of things. It can solidify and gum things up. Little things for sure. Like brackets and hinges. Buckets can overcome that. But there's grease for that. Here's a story; I bought a Marlin rifle for the low, low price of $150. It was all gummed up with WD-40. I cleaned it up(I can do this) and it turned out to be a beautiful and accurate rifle. Way more accurate than the Winchester. It had killer wood too. I'd show you a picture, but we can't do that. That's OK, you get the idea. Pam isn't even in the discussion here.
Well, that was one Christmas present that delivered, just to see Courtney's face after her first real work drive round in the machine was almost priceless.
Riley, you really should pinch yourself. You have a wife who not only appreciates, but LOVES getting a piece of heavy machinery for Christmas. You are living the dream sir. And Courtney, how many men out there can or would buy a skid steer for their wife for Christmas? Truly a match made in heaven. You are both very fortunate. Merry Christmas.
Oh, and please be careful. Those are amazing machines, but they can do a lot of damage very quickly. I once pushed over a well built brick wall while moving a pile of dirt that was piled against it. I pushed the dirt, the dirt pushed the wall, and that was it.
12:11 You need a wider bucket. That bucket is a little bit narrower than the machine, and so your tracks end up driving on the material you are trying to scoop. Get a bucket that is a few inches wider than your tracks so when you scoop something like gravel and it falls back in behind the bucket you don’t drive over it and throw of your scoop. This is especially important when you are trying to level out gravel/dirt. Trust me it will be well worth it.
(just in case) Remember to keep your revs down. Before you turn on your Aux. If the revs are high and you turn on the Aux. You can blow out your hoses. Good luck you guys!

You’re the only guy I know that could buy his wife a skid steer for Christmas and not only get away with it but it’s the perfect gift. A Very Memorable Christmas to you both!
I bought my wife a wood biscuit cutter and she loved it. When she told her friends they thought it was something for the kitchen and she got comments like "How much baking does he expect you to do"
That is so adorable when Courtney sees her Christmas present. I would be just like her and have a great time with it. You both have a Very Merry Christmas 🎄⛄🎄.
For next winter, you should set up Snow poles(Snow Plow Markers, Driveway Markers or Stakes) with reflex along your road. So you see how wide the road is so you can clear the snow without risking the machine falling down the slope.
I was watching some current abnormal snow videos in California where people getting stuck under snow, inside their home can't get in/out. But also showed cars driving on the road that you can't hardly see. I was so nervous, OMG the driver will fall on the cliff. You cant see if you are on the lane or driving towards the edge of the road. Some tried to leave the home to buy snow blower, then they were not allowed to return home either by the authorities or the snow blocked them.
What a score, Riley... not talking about the Skid Steer... talking about the Lass in your life who can appreciate and enjoy a skid steer for Christmas!! Although, you may be feeding yourself and eating alone for a good while.
Make sure you purchase some extra shear pins that drive the auger and blower. shear pins will always fail when you least need them to, especially if you are encountering ice or thick crusty snow. Ice is like a rock, it will dent and bend things you would not expect, not to mention it gets thrown out of the chute and will break windows, dent buildings, cars.... David Weidner is correct, spray the chute, auger and blower box to prevent sticking of snow before you use it. Also be sure to clear the blower at the end of work. Frozen snow on the auger can cause the shear pins to fail on start up.
Merry Xmas. Normally I would say that gift is more of a household appliance, and not appropriate for one's bride, but Courtney is such a good equipment operator, and took to it and its attachments instantly, and you can see the joy in her voice. The skidsteer is the perfect match for Courtney's excavator. You two are amazing Meanwhile I'm sitting out day two of our blizzard in Fort Erie, across the river from Buffalo NY.
The look on Courtney's face when she was trying to comprehend that the skid steer was her new toy - that was priceless! Good old Riley, he pulled off a good one on Courtney! Way to go Riley! I hope you guys had a good Christmas and will have a really good new year!
That equipment will run circles around the excavator. The excavator is priceless for certain projects but a skidsteer is a power house life changing tool!
Riley knows your love language Courtney. The best gift from hubby was a new steering column for my 1986 Camaro, and a seed spreader. So I get you, lady. And of course what piece of equipment would officially be y'alls until Riley gets it stuck? LOL.
Also I forgot both Outdoors with the Morgans and Lumnah Acres just got snow blowers. Lumnah got a Bobcat tool cat with a blower, he already has a truck mounted snow plow and blade on his tractor but his new off grid place is a long ways off the road like you guys, so he is prepared and Morgans just got a blower on their new Kubota tractor so they are set. just in time for winter.
Other fun attachments for the skid steer: Concrete mixing bucket, log attachment, brush cutter, auger, rock breaker, log splitter, various grapples, vibrating roller, sifter, and the list goes on. I've owned a skid steer for a few years, and that thing is one of the most handy machines I own. Now it's time to build a car port for your equipment. Also, they make special cleats that you screw into the treads for your skid steer, they work very well and can be removed for the other season. Well worth the money, and it should solve your sliding issue (nvm, saw the last 30 seconds of the video, lol).
OMG, I was going to say something last video about something like this for you guys! It really is what you need with the amounts of snow you get in a snowstorm to keep your plow banks lower and not have to fire up more pieces of equipment to knock them down every other storm. This machine comes with the option of other attachments to help you out on the mountain 👽
wow. watching this set me back a long way. Courtney is just priceless in herself. the look on her face when she finally understood....ITS MINE! wow. so many memories come back to me with my wife, now departed. same build. same quizzical looks. same abilities to run and operate what ever gets in front of her. all she needed, like Courtney, tell her she can do it and she can do it. give her the confidence she needs and let her run. i can only tell you this much son, you have a woman there that was not given to you, you have a woman there that graces your being. honors you by being in your life. take damn good care of her. if you ever hear you hurt her, guess what son? you wont ever come off that mountain again. no threat, just facts. What a present!!!! Wow I have a ton of hours in skid steers and by far the cat 289/ 299 skidsteers are the best made !!! From the hydraulic functions right down to the heated seat they absolutely rock !!! I think you will be amazed how much work you can actually get done with then also. Make sure you use the continuous flow detent for the snow blow so your thumb doesn't get sore holding the button down , I ran mine for a while before I figured out it had that option and with a forestry mulcher my thumb was killing me at the end of the day
WOW, amazing present but I only have one suggestion. park the blower attachment under cover otherwise you will have to locate then dig out the blower to use it if you get a decent overnight snowfall. Enjoy the new found possibilities you have with a skid steer, they are a game changer.
That is quite the gift! No pressure Courtney but the ball is in your court. I'm thinking maybe you should get Riley something like a crane or bucket truck.
One more thing you need for the skidder. A blade. Better than a bucket for lighter snow. You can angle it like a truck blade, but lift and pile it like a bucket. Way faster
Loved the look of surprise on Courtney's face when she saw the full sized "Toy"! Priceless. Well done, Riley! Merry Christmas to both of you. Stay safe and warm.
A skid steer snowblower. I am officially JEALOUS, Courtney! Merry Christmas!!!! You will come to appreciate it even more when you are out in windy conditions and instead of the wind blowing the snow plume back in your face, you'll be protected in that heated cab. It IS one more piece of equipment that will need maintenance and the occasional repair (like the dozer?) but your situation there demands it, IMHO. Okay, maybe not so awfully humble . . . but I try. You can try out the bucket at the top of my gravel drive, where everybody spins the wheels and digs pits in my driveway! 😉
I forgot to mention another pro-tip. Park any tracked vehicle up off the snow and ice. I park on railroad ties. Some use logs. The tracks can freeze to the ground. Even that big Cat dozer can get frozen to the ground.
Heavy equipment is the perfect gift for any occasion! I absolutely loved Courtney's reaction to her present and only wonder how Riley managed to get it up there next to the building without her hearing? Good luck with ALL the projects you're going to be able to accomplish with that in the coming year! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you guys!
The look that Courtney gives Riley a minute 7:01 in this video is priceless. Awesome you guys. A very Merry Christmas 🎅 to all 4 of you. Thanks for sharing your life.
Before watching this video, I was going to ask why y'all don't put the snow plow on the Army truck. Now, that is a moot point! That is one sweet piece of equipment. The right tools make any job easier AND safer. Merry Christmas Courtney and Riley. You guys ROCK!
In an earlier video, Riley mentioned that the army truck would only spin one wheel. Sounds like the differential locks are not working. Until that is fixed, the truck would get stuck easily in the snow.
What a brilliant Christmas present. Courtney is some girl and a hell of a machine operator with it, another great episode. Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year x
Once you have a piece of equipment like that in an environment like that you find it hard to be without. Swiss Army tool of outdoor equipment, exactly.
Now you need to get a tarp for each of your pieces of equipment, for winter. It will save a lot of time by making it easier to remove the snow before use. Look for some of the used vinyl signs - they're cheap, big, and last many years (since you only need them in winter they will not be destroyed by the intense summer sunshine.
You can get the remote control run it from inside the house 😂 fyi make sure you don’t find a rock or anything with the snow blower and there’s a heated seat on that model also 👍🏻
When Courtney was in the skid steer snow blowing, I was saying that is so cool, the the camera did a close up of Courtney and she said 'this is so cool' lol What a wonderful husband you are Riley and you have your very own rescuer x
I remember the first time I ever got into our skid steer... I never wanted to get out! Over the next three year we had it on the property what we lived on I volunteered to use it whenever possible. I loved working in it. Trust me when I say this... after a few hours behind the controls is will just become an extension of yourself, and you will be moving your hands, and feet in unison with the machine without even having to think about it! I am so envious on your guys right now. Happy Holidays, and stay warm!
When your equipment has equipment you've made it. IMO snowblowing makes pushing snow seems so archaic. Beautiful rounded berms along your roadways and walkways makes winter seem like a winter wonderland.
So glad y'all finally got one ! Between the Mini Ex and the skidsteer there is just about nothing you can't do in construction. You both have grown a lot since moving up there. Learned to adapt and not afraid to use equipment. Courtney has become a great operator and Riley is getting handier with the wrenches as time goes on. Riley operating that dozer took some guts as well. The world needs more couples like y'all !
Ya'll another great video!! Riley you knocked it out of the park made you're little bride so happy! Courtney you look like the happiest girl in the world in you're skid steer that thing flat blows the snow great job runnin it. Definitely gonna be able to move a lot of stuff with that fast. MERRY CHRISTMAS! Happy new year! Thanks for sharing be safe have fun enjoy ya'lls time together and homestead
thanks for the video! im looking at a lot of snow covered vehicles and equipment all over the place ....i find myself thinking you need another roof maybe some walls and a level work surface so you can park and service these tools.
@@AmbitionStrikes andrew camarata has a nice outdoor garage pour a pad pop some containers on it a beam front back and middle trusses on top...volia the bonus locking containers and storage space...but those are plans for warmer days
Just so you guys know, the switch for the heated seat is between your legs on that machine, round rocker switch, I’m sure you will enjoy the extra heat when dealing with all that snow!
You two are so cute and amazing!! And seeing Courtney smiling from one ear to the other made my day!! Can't wait to see whats coming next!! Marry Christmas to you!!
That’s a real game-changer Xmas gift! Can’t think of anyone who would appreciate a skid-steer more than you, Courtney. (Maybe Riley?) Our best holiday wishes to both of you.
When your wife gets excited to get a construction equipment...SHE IS THE ONE !!!
For sure!! So fun watching the incredulity on her face!! Way to go Riley!! “Do I have to get out?” 😂
Exactly...couldn't say it better myself.
My thoughts exactly.
Amen to that. Keeper for sure.
Best Xmas gift 🎁 u can ever give her love u both 💓
One year my dad bought my mother a cement mixer. Mom loved it and mixed all the cement for the basement walls of the house they built.
Remember on The Simpsons when Homer bought Marge a custom bowling ball with Homer’s initials engraved on it? 🤣😂🤣😂
That was really nice of Riley to get you a skid steer for Christmas.
Remember to clear the chute and feeder screws of the blower to prevent them from being frozen when you want to use the blower next time. Also to keep the snow from sticking spray the chute with cooking spray before and after use. The cheap stuff works
also "FLOAT" for when you use the thrower.
WD40 also works for sticking snow and sometimes cheaper then cooking spray.
Spray the box/auger with wd40 too

Totally love how he presented her with the toy skid steer 1st...omg ....What a reaction indeed!!! (you rented it right....lmao!!
@Bruce Krazykiter a great way for Riley to present it. Went out of his way, which is what love is. Going out of your way for loved ones.

Keep the engine revs down when you start and 'stop' the snow blower.

We are learning just how valuable covered parking is this winter!
@@AmbitionStrikes andrew camarata has a nice outdoor garage pour a pad pop some containers on it a beam front back and middle trusses on top...volia the bonus locking containers and storage space...but those are plans for warmer days
now you can also add a rack for the attachments of the excavator and the scidsteer , Courtney is a born machine operator well done
This channel has been such a blessing for y’all and us as viewers. Keep up the fantastic content.
What a very special lady! Such a positive attitude!
That’s a real game-changer Xmas gift! Can’t think of anyone who would appreciate a skid-steer more than you, Courtney. (Maybe Riley?) Our best holiday wishes to both of you.
Happy Holiday's to you both as well!
Kerry Christmas!
