True! Once the ignition is disturbed, it is difficult to start it again, and the cold does not help at all.
The people who knew how to adjust the ignition on the 500 and fiat 126 (same engine)were very popular...

Sounds like a rear brake shoe is walking side to side and hitting the backing plate, causing the knocking sound.
