    Whats up TH-cam!?!? This is the fourth video of many videos documenting my experiences surrounding a Spinal Fusion Surgery. I had my L4-L5 fused and the L5-S1 decompressed and cleaned up. I hope you enjoy the raw emotion of the videos because I'm trying to be as real as possible. Yes, the videos are a little bit amateur but I am making these to get the information out to those who need it.
    Thanks for watching.

      I also had this procedure. Done here in the Philippines. I am a senior citezen and also experience all of what you have gone through. It's almost a month now after surgery, it's already 1 month by May 29. 2024. Yes it's a bit easier now to move, though sometimes there's still some stiffnes specially when getting out of bed. But at least i can lie flat now and move from side to side but slowly and with extra care. But so far i can do some easy household chores now. But i should say that sometimes there stil some stiffness and pain in my back when getting up from lying in bed.

    I’m bing watching your helpful video aa my sleep schedule going on week three is all messed up. Also, a main motivation for my upcoming surgery is the never ending pain in my right leg. The nerves are getting squashed and the surgery is the only solution. It’s hard to believe that prior to three weeks ago I was biking, resistance band training and my wife joined me with biking as she got a Giant Ebike. Now she’s biking alone or with our son. I also have a huge tumor in my sacrum they have to remove and put cement into sacrum where tumor was. I live alone and so worried about daily life activists and being able to sleep as i have to sleep on my back. Did you sleep on
    your back and was it too painful to sleep? What pain meds did they give you in the hospital and how bad was the pain when you first woke up? That’s one of my fears too…waking up in excruciating pain and having to walk same day or next day after surgery.

    love to see your updates man. be more optimistic, if the doc thinks it's going well, it should be! i'm holding off my surgery until at least next year, give myself a bit more time to think. keep it up! i forgot if i asked this. but did the doctor say anything about weight lifting after you have fully recovered? i want to be able to still deadlift/squat etc. after the surgery. or is this something you shouldnt do anymore for longevity?

    • @TheFuzedLife
      @TheFuzedLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So the doctor hasn't said anything and from the things I read and watch it's kind of mixed. Some guys go back to powerlifting a few months after. As I understand, the spot that is fused it not an issue but since it isn't vulnerable, everything else is slightly more vulnerable. It's something I plan on asking at some point.
      I've got my heart set on the Rogue Rhino Belt Squat to supplement Barbell Squats and the Reverse Hyper machine as well. Check that stuff out as well.
      Give yourself time, they say 90% can be fixed without surgery over time. I was definitely a 10%er, I couldn't walk or do anything physical.

But thanks for sharing your experiences with us. Cheers Rich

      Hey Rich,
      I've been fortunate enough to have no setbacks as of yet. I have a little pain in my Piriformis that I had before the surgery but it doesn't worry me. I can put my finger on the pain site, not radiating just tight.
      I'm up to walking 6 miles now. Just trying to force as much new blood in there as I can. My doctor is a 5-star rated surgeon in El Paso so I'm hoping he just lived up to his billing.
      I'm doing a little rehab as you've heard me explain in the videos but not overdoing it. I feel great, the incision area gets tight at night right before bed but I wake up feeling great.
      Thanks for watching and reaching out. I've watched some videos that explain that the sciatica nerve pain has a memory so to speak and may go on even if not provoked. I hope it all clears up.

      I had my l5 fusion 34 months ago.. that's almost 3years now starting back 9/1/18..so I'm a fitness trainer. My injury wasn't a process, it was blunt force trama. So I'm dealing with the post healing process the way I've warmed up my clients to increase flexibility, cardio to increase blood flow expectually around the post operative site to reengage new muscle growth and avoid clotting and swelling. Only using tension bands to isolate other muscle groups to reduce muscle atrophy and I attack these sits differently each time but you must be consistent.. good luck my fusion brothers and sisters.

      Helen,
      Before surgery, yes I had the tingling. After surgery, I did not have any of that to date. 6 months post op last week.

      Hi Helen,
      I’m 11 weeks post op. At around week 4-5 I had tingling and sharp pain in my feet. Found it was neuropathy. It only lasted a week and everything has been going great.

      Deepak, I have tried this and failed and I’m 2.5 years post op. I tried to do 30 straight days and I ended up taking test days. This wasn’t based on the fact that I couldn’t. I kinda chickened out.
      Do I think it’s possible, yes. I just haven’t done it for an extended period yet. I definitely rest.

    I have been seen by numerous neurosurgeons in Florida and in Pittsburgh. I need L-5-SI surgery but because I am missing one of the two Pedicles people have, there is no place to screw into on one side to stabilize the S-I joint. The chances for success are too limited for someone my age (76) so I get a shot under sedation once every 6-8 weeks. Happy for you that have had successful surgeries. The pinching of the Sciatic Nerve at that SI Joint creates so much turmoil in the lower half of our bodies. From your back down to your toes. I am pretty sure I will eventually end up in a wheelchair, if I live long enough.

    Hey man. I did my TLIF 3 weeks back.
    Everything fine but suddenly past 3 days having Knee pain on the right leg, before surgery I had sciatica in left leg. Slight Heaviness on the right leg as well.
    Did you had any such experience?

    • @TheFuzedLife
      @TheFuzedLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I did experience knee aches. My muscles in the left leg were so tight that it was causing me issues. Hundreds of hours of stretching later, I've got it mostly figured out. It may be some sort of imbalance from the injury. Give yourself some time to heal. Another 3 weeks will make such a difference in healing and then reevaluate.

      No sir I've never experienced this. When I wake up my back usually feels pretty good. Right before bed right at the incision site it's a little tight but I've never been awakened by pain.

    • @tbollinger505
      @tbollinger505 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have good nights sleep and then I have really bad nights sleep. On good nights, I can wake up at a 3-4 pain level. Bad nights are not restorative. I have tons of scar tissue and permanent nerve pain. My pain generally grows as the day progresses. By 7p, I’m ready to lay down! Because of the complication, I have never been able to stop taking pain medication. I now have a muscle relaxer and 1800mg gabapentin in addition.😢

    I had L5-S1 fusion surgery with PLIF with cages 6 months ago. Be careful, my first surgery did not fuse after 7 months and I did too much, so I had to do revision surgery. Do you have cages as well?

      Sonja what were your symptoms of the surgery not fusing? Where was your pain etc? How did they know you didn't fuse? I think that is my issue but no one can tell me the symptoms of a failed fusion. Did they go in originally from the front or back? How are you now? What did they do differently to make sure you fused the 2nd time? I know I will be doing this eventually but trying to hold off as long as possible but it's getting close. Would love to hear more.
