Hey Guys! I was locked out of my account for a while. I finally got back in. I’m going to start making content again real soon!! I’ll post a Q and A video for you tonight!!
My issues started in 5th grade with a trampoline incident, 2 car accidents and age. I’m 63 now. I’ve had 2 back surgeries at L4 & 5. Lots of epidural injects. Now I have to see a surgeon about a fusion. I’m scared, but your videos are helping.
1 month out of my L4, L5 fusion as well, doing so good. Just like the comments, think before you do any movements. Thank you for your video, we all need hope for each day ahead.
A very much appreciate these videos and pleased for your progress. Cool thing about the internet is it is the gift that never goes away. Here it is Sept. 2022 and still benefitting from your recordings. I'm using the data you've shared to both mentally prepare for a surgery on Sept. 20 th, and gauge what my experience will be like. Thx again!
These videos are so helpful Thankyou you are doing so well I’m sorry about your friend I hope he is doing ok my surgery for this is very soon & my surgeon gave me the pros & cons of this operation but I have bought a wheelchair 4 back up as u never know do u everyone is different but listening to your body & gentle pacing & resting & not pushing above the bar of my recovery like you is the way to go 💖
Just wanted to share that I got my fusion done yesterday and am home already today! I walked inside without any assistance. It went better than expected. Good luck to anyone reading this. Here's to hoping each day gets better from here on out!
@@TheFuzedLife I’m definitely sore from the travel home and walking. If this is the worst it gets, I will be okay. Thank god for the meds. Just going to take it slow and get better day by day - thanks for leading the way for us.
@@jtld2824 hey Joshua, I had single level minimally invasive PLIF done at L5/S1 with decompression and titanium spacer. It’s getting a little better each day. Weening myself off of the narcotics. Trying to eat as healthy as possible and do everything I can do help my body. Still sore but able to walk around a bit. I was real scared beforehand but I think everything will be okay in time. Good luck, let me know if you have more questions! These videos series really helped me wrap my head around what to expect. Do your own research and make a decision you can live with.
I hurt my back a few years ago helping pick a patient up off the floor. It kept getting worse over the years and this past July 4th, I did something to really screw it up! I couldn't lie down on our bed, I couldn't lie on the couch. The only place I could get any relief was in a recliner. I saw two different surgeons and finally had spinal fusion surgery six weeks ago. I've been going through the normal recovery process, but in the last two weeks my back pain has gotten almost as bad as it was before surgery. I've watched how I get up and down, how I get in and out of bed, etc...the pain and burning in my left leg is so bad at times. I met with my surgeon a few days ago and he now wants to do surgery again! I don't know if I can go through it again! The hospital he is at is over 150 miles away. I can't even drive yet! What a mess!!
I don’t envy the position you’re in. I can’t believe you’re facing another surgery. Make sure you ask the proper questions and stick up for yourself. Make sure the surgery is 100% necessary. Have the doc explain exactly what’s going on and why it has to be operated on.
I am on day one post surgery and am still in a lot of pain (thank God for pain medication, right?) I’m so happy to have found your channel as I now know what expect during my recovery. Thank you for sharing your journey.
This surgeries now are extremely successful. Very rarely are there problems due to the surgery itself. Sometimes the patient has too much spinal degeneration and will need other surgeries. Sometimes people push themselves too hard too soon. Hardware failure would be extremely rare.
Brother your doing fantastic, please, please think with lifting anything.I MEAN THINK. Proud of you, keep doing it & thanks for allowing me into your recovery. Ray
Had L3-L5 done last October. This December it unfortunately have to be extended with L1-L3. Last time I was in hospital 9 days due to very severe pains. I hope to be home much faster this time. I have god hard painkillers (opium) for 17 months now. This have to end. But right now I cannot live without ,due to the back pain.
I’m 4 months and 3 weeks past fusion l2-3-4. 2 discs replaced. I was in bad shape before. Severe atrophy in both thighs. Worse in right. I’m 62 years old. I’m walking a mile and a half a day. I can do some chores like yard work, some things around our ranch etc. I’m also doing physical therapy exercises. But you are right about needing to rest now and then…. And I have to make a conscious choice to not do to much. I have a little bit of residual nerve pain in right leg that continues to get better. I knew in advance this may take some time because of the severity and length of time I had the problems. I still have some stiffness and muscle pain but I’m working through it okay. It is a big time surgery….and everyone heals differently. Prior to the surgery I had debilitating leg cramps much of the time. Those are completely gone, and have been since the moment I woke up from surgery. It is a commitment one needs to make before the surgery. You can’t sit in the recliner for weeks and months after this surgery… not and get well.

Hi. First of all, very useful videos BIG thankU for sharing. I am grateful to AI ChatGPT who suggested your videos when I asked for experience of people who had spinal fusion; your videos came 2nd in the suggested list, so far they are the best. I am 56 yrs old from Saudi Arabia and I had my L2/L3 fusion 4,weeks ago. Your videos are amazing and really helping me go through this journey. 👍🏻
hi mate, nice to see you are doing well, I'm a month behind you too but way behind you physically, had lots of flare ups due to inflammation and unable to get them down so lost months because of those, constant pins and needles in my legs which is annoying but just been put on some pain killers which are more neuro based and they are helping, I still feel the bottom of my back is swollen but at least it doesn't hurt. Same as you am back at work but cant walk too far and certainly cant jump :) sure I'll get there though but reckon it'll be a year, interested to hear what supplements you've been taking for the inflammation though, take care Rich
Hey Rich, I'm glad you're doing ok, I hope you get a full recovery brother. I'm on Tumeric, Ginger, Curcumin, Tart Cherry, Currant Oil and a multivitamin. I also take a few mushrooms like Lions Mane and Cortyceps which may help a little for that but are for cognitive and immunity reasons.
I can completely correlate with your condition mate. I'm 27 & I was diagnosed with a calcified disc herniation at L5-S1 at 24 due to multiple microtruma I had suffered while playing football & tennis during my college days. I got microdiscectomy done 2 years back but pain has started reappearing in a mild scale for last 6 months & I've been advised a fusion. I wanna know have you started swimming & doing proper physio sessions with the pt in a gym?
Sir, I did all the PT myself. Lots of walking at first. I'm now running, doing pushups and air squats, pull ups, cycling. My problem is there is no public pool where I live so it's hard to lap swim but I'm doing great. It was very hard at first but I'm recovering nicely and I hope you will also.
I got another microdiscectomy at the same level L5S1 to debride the remaining disc that was impinging on the nerve. My surgeon wanted to avoid a fusion & decided to go for a revision decompression without fusing that level because fusion once done can't be reverted. The surgery was in November 2022. Now almost 2 years post op I'm pretty much doing all stuff like swimming, jogging & working out in the gym regularly. But i still have some amount of radicular pain if I sit longer, which I'm managing by avoiding long sitting at a stretch.
I can’t believe you can do impact activities. I am 5 and a half month post fusion and I inakbhe it would hurt a lot to jump or run. Does your back still get sore or get a burning pain after a long time on your feet or lots of activity?
Im thinking of having this surgery,,trauma caused my spondylolisthesis,,since then my legs are very small ...my question is did you notice any difference in leg size since surgery??
Also the Only pain medicine I am taking is gabapentin I completely stop the painkillers about three weeks ago just because I did not like the way it made me feel And in all honesty not quite sure if it really helped with pain more or less let me days off into space but once it wore off the pain was still there I am also curious about the supplements that you’re taking for inflammation
Im on Tumeric, Ginger, Curcumin, Currant Oil and Tart Cherry for the inflammation. I never liked the pain killers or Gabapentin. With my back issues NOTHING was helping.
Hey Man , Good video . I'm 51 2 months post Alif . I'm just wondering if you can remember your first 3 months and help me out ?. I consider myself as healthy and pretty Athletic . I recently had neck fusion and I was back playing golf within 4 weeks . This time around the low back disc fusion has been a pain to recover from . My right leg cramps up pretty bad and the pain reaches about an 8 .I was wondering if you still had numbness or cramps in your legs 2 months out?. I know everyones experiences and feels are diffrent and I'm just wondering if everything I'm going through is normal . The only way its becomes normal for me is taking meds 2x a day otherwise its a real bad day . Any info provided is appreciated . Thank you!
Jim, yes at 2 months I did have numbness in my left calf and muscle cramps were definitely common for me. Sorry for the late response. How are you now!?!?
How are you doing nowadays? Update? Did you ever in the past consider artificial disc replacement? Glad to c u r doing well so far on the available vids u have. I have a herniated L4-L5 disc and fear losing my career over it as I do semi physical work, nothing too too heavy tho
@@supermushroom3175I’m doing great! No I never considered the artificial disc. If you see some of my new content I’m running, lifting, sprinting, etc. How are you!?
@@TheFuzedLife good to know, I'll look into them. Im 5wks post op and can't believe how good I feel... I believe its the amount of walking 2.5-5 miles daily and Physical Therapy 2x a week... still extremely hesitant to do a lot of things. I was worried before the procedure that I would be limited physically and quality of life wouldn't be the same. I hope at 6 months I'll be where you're at.
@@SaltySeabee Just listen to your body. No shame in resting AT ALL. The first mile I walked was around 27 minutes now I'm at a normal 4 miles an hour pace. Keep it up and good luck sir!
Hi ... Friend . I am from India . My L5S1 fusion surgery done last month . Now it's going on 5th week . When I lying on bed I feel a pain at the point of the operation . How long will this pain last? Can I expect this pain at this time? Please share your experience . I am waiting for your valuable reply.
Yes you're going to have that pain for a while. That was normal for me. I would expect this pain for probably 2 months but it's not just going to go away. Everything is gradual. Take it easy as much as you can. There is always time to build yourself back up.
I am 17 weeks post op L3-L4, L4-L5 TLIF and am too in Law Enforcement. I just put my gear on for the first time for a training day and felt well but still have numbness at and slightly below my left knee which won't let me do more than a fast walk during moving exercises. I am still on a desk assignment for light duty. My biggest thing now is the lower back tightness that comes and goes. My surgeon said I can start to moderately take Ibuprofen which helps a lot. Anyway, now that you over a year since surgery I was wanting to know how it's going with your job and if you operate on the street and the challenges that you may have experienced with it.
@@TheFuzedLife I’ve been doing really well with my double lumbar fusion. I have been back to street patrol for 13 months now. I workout almost everyday by using nautilus and stretching. I stay away from squats with weights. I do have neuropathy in my left knee which prevents me from running more than maybe 30yds or so. Standing with all the gear on for extended times does bother me but I can sit for a few minutes or lean on something to help with that. I am also back to golfing. Swing just doesn’t have the full range of motion. All in all just keep exercising to keep it strong.
I know it’s very odd to call somebody you never talk to before but There is not a ton of people That understand low back pain/fusion surgery and have experienced it and know how to deal with it in the most effective way.I am from Michigan I am 42 years old and would truly appreciate if you could reach out to me
Or let me know what app and I will download it I’m not sure.I have WhatsApp if you want to use that or just let me know what you want to do but I really would like to talk to you
You can’t say his surgey failed! It’s way too early. A surgey like that takes 12 months plus and berber’s can take 1-2 years to fully heal. If is very damaging to make statements like that and wildly inaccurate.
S.C., Sorry about the "wildly inaccurate statement" that was repeated from him and his doctor. He had 2 screws come loose and he just had a follow up surgery. If you have a follow up surgery because your metal plate is swinging on 2 screws, did that surgery fail or is that inaccurate?
@@TheFuzedLife Yes this is terribly sad and I feel so sorry for him. This was not mentioned in the video. Go easy man. I am trying to protect myself and others who have had surgey and are still feeling pain and asking themselves ‘does this mean my fusion has failed’ It’s a very scary time. I thought I would be pain free after my fusion.
@@sc9683 I’m 8.5 months out L4-5 fusion. Still same amount of pain as before surgery! In addition to this I have now a lot of stiffness and pain associated to movement. I originally got the surgery for debilitating back pain only without any radiating pain. Drs can’t find out anything. Says fusion is taking place and rod screws in safe place. Then how come I’m still in severe pain? Can’t even do the simplest activities without getting flare-ups. Does this make it a failed back surgery?

Thank you, I’m so glad the videos are helping!
You're able to use your duty belt
Sir we can talk more of youd like. Fuzed24@yahoo.com.
Yes I can use a duty belt.
Will you be able to share who did the surgery?
I will share in private. Fuzed24@yahoo.com
Guess I should feel great full I made it 7 years
John, what’s your condition like after 7 years sir? Can the channel get an update??
Hello friend how you doing now years later
hi mate, nice to see you are doing well, I'm a month behind you too but way behind you physically, had lots of flare ups due to inflammation and unable to get them down so lost months because of those, constant pins and needles in my legs which is annoying but just been put on some pain killers which are more neuro based and they are helping, I still feel the bottom of my back is swollen but at least it doesn't hurt. Same as you am back at work but cant walk too far and certainly cant jump :) sure I'll get there though but reckon it'll be a year, interested to hear what supplements you've been taking for the inflammation though, take care Rich
Hey Rich,
I'm glad you're doing ok, I hope you get a full recovery brother.
I'm on Tumeric, Ginger, Curcumin, Tart Cherry, Currant Oil and a multivitamin. I also take a few mushrooms like Lions Mane and Cortyceps which may help a little for that but are for cognitive and immunity reasons.
Rich, how you doing nowadays, sir?
I can completely correlate with your condition mate. I'm 27 & I was diagnosed with a calcified disc herniation at L5-S1 at 24 due to multiple microtruma I had suffered while playing football & tennis during my college days. I got microdiscectomy done 2 years back but pain has started reappearing in a mild scale for last 6 months & I've been advised a fusion. I wanna know have you started swimming & doing proper physio sessions with the pt in a gym?
Sir,
I did all the PT myself. Lots of walking at first. I'm now running, doing pushups and air squats, pull ups, cycling. My problem is there is no public pool where I live so it's hard to lap swim but I'm doing great.
It was very hard at first but I'm recovering nicely and I hope you will also.
Pattniak, update sir?
Hello friend how you doing now
I got another microdiscectomy at the same level L5S1 to debride the remaining disc that was impinging on the nerve.
Why are you not loading anymore videos?
Hey!
I just put one up today! Go check it out. More content soon!!
@@TheFuzedLife Thank You
Great job
I can’t believe you can do impact activities. I am 5 and a half month post fusion and I inakbhe it would hurt a lot to jump or run. Does your back still get sore or get a burning pain after a long time on your feet or lots of activity?
S c. Yes I still get sore. Absolutely. A bunch of new little pains here and there but they go away!! Good luck and keep me updated!!
SC,
How are you nowadays? I’d love to get an update!
What exercise you do after surgery???
Walking! Tons of walking!
How are you doing nowadays?
I'm about to go in for the same surgery, your videos are giving me serious doubt on if I wanna go thru with it... This does not sound good.
I hope you did go with it and are doing well.
Thanks for the comment! Dave, how are you doing??
Hello friend how you doing now year later
Italia,
Can we get an update on your status? We’d love to hear from you!

How long did you have to wait before you were able to BLT
Can you catch me up on the internet slang? What is BLT?
It just clicked. Bending, lifting, twisting, correct?
At three months I was cleared to start rehabbing my ability to BLT.
Bend lift and twist

Jim,
Can you give us an update on your status? We’d love to hear how you’re doing nowadays!
Stay healthy and safe!
Hey bud, do u have any sort of discomfort if legs. I feel like something is moving in legs, restless legs
I used to feel just a very faint tingly jolt go into my left foot and toes that didn't impact anything but I don't anymore.
you are looking good
hope to see you 100% soon 😊
btw bro how many levels (fusion) have you done? L4-L5-S1?
Yes L4-L5-S1
How are you doing nowadays? Update? Did you ever in the past consider artificial disc replacement? Glad to c u r doing well so far on the available vids u have. I have a herniated L4-L5 disc and fear losing my career over it as I do semi physical work, nothing too too heavy tho
@@supermushroom3175 do you eat those super mushrooms?
@@supermushroom3175I’m doing great! No I never considered the artificial disc.
If you see some of my new content I’m running, lifting, sprinting, etc.
How are you!?
How are you doing insomaniac? Can you update the channel on your status?
I was under the impression that anti-inflammatories or NSAIDS were a bad idea for 6mos to a year?
Hey CR.
It's natural supplements. It's food in a pill. I don't take NSAIDS.
There is always time to build yourself back up.
hey bro may I ask where did you get it done? I’m currently in Delhi for the surgery. so any recommendations or surgeon nearby?
@@HypotheticalX nothing near India. I had it done in El Paso, Texas.

Hi
Agree!
Hey John, I’m full duty and I’m doing great. No setback. I’m at 2 years post op. How you doing brother? Please update me and the channel!!
John,
How is everything going? We’d love to hear an update on your status!

You can’t say his surgey failed! It’s way too early. A surgey like that takes 12 months plus and berber’s can take 1-2 years to fully heal. If is very damaging to make statements like that and wildly inaccurate.
S.C.,
Sorry about the "wildly inaccurate statement" that was repeated from him and his doctor.
@@sc9683
Understood. I get it, it's a very scary time in your life.
