Neil Blevins! Blast from the past. I learned a lot from the tutorials he used to put together… a long time ago. He went off to Pixar at some point, didn’t he?
@@aab-aab cheers for the update. And thanks for Brazil. I was a big advocate for it back in the day - it was ahead of its time. Pity it didn’t make it through.
5:31 This shot is in fact really impressive! See the water reflection on top of the shark? That’s something lots of render engines can’t even do to this day! If they were to continue with this render engine, it could turn out to be one of the best I think!
That’s cool to hear man! I wasn’t alive then, but I’d guess 3D rendering was something next level back then right? Might see if this engine is still available to this day! 👍
I do. Used it dearly and still have the installation disks. And I'll also never forgive Autodesk for acquiring and killing it. They said they incorporated it in 3dsmax but that was either a lie or another of their half-a$$ "implementation".
Furthermore, what happened to Lightscape?! I imagine nowadays CPUs for LS renderer! man! And yes, 3dsmax integrated radiosity is NOT lightscape rrenderer!
Let’s not think in terms of years… that just returns numbers that no one needs to hear. Let’s use decades instead… then it’s only ~2. So much better. Even better, centuries. Then it’s not EVEN 0.25!
Me and Neil Blevins were beta testers of RayFX, the first name of this render engine while Steve was still at Blur Studios.
👏

@@TheForbinExperiment, yes. But it seems like he left Pixar at around 2020.

You can also talk about Indigo Renderer, on of the best unbiased rendering engines
I remember Indigo 🙌
Good old days wasn’t there a version of it for Iclone 5 or 6 as well ? I miss my teenage days 😅
I love how you guys talk about these software. ❤❤❤
Look much cleaner in win98/XP UI than nowadays app
Well. Let me give you the short version.
It was probably expensive. And now we have better for free.
i Used it for some time since 2003, it was really good

Nobodoy remember Lightscape, so good for its time ?

I remember it at home of a friend with Max
Brazil render was like mental ray
Who’s he?
but cooler
What do you think about Maxwell render?
It’s really nice, I always found it very performant - especially for the quality.
Furthermore, what happened to Lightscape?! I imagine nowadays CPUs for LS renderer! man!

I switched from Maya to 3DMax, because of Brazil... I think 2003 ... daamn )

What happened to maxwell?
lol was about to look up that video next. so powerful but too slow in the face of engines such as vray etc
I'm the first 😂😂
