I APPRECIATE these videos so much. As the introverted kid who didn't have many friends and spent way too much time obsessing over Apple instead of doing "normal" things kids do, these videos are triggering my notalgia-campus portion of my brain so hard. Keep the dopamine coming!
This is awesome! I got my iPod 4 for my 13th birthday in 2010. This is what locked me into the Apple ecosystem. Back then I had the “Good” iPod with the camera
The iPod Touch 2nd gen was my first iOS device. Iphone was too expensive, but I also wanted a device that could handle wifi and apps - so the ipod touch was the way to go. Was quite a helpful buddy while being a student - and 32gb was a lot of internal memory (which was all used for videos and apps and no music at all haha). Ah memories :D
Wow, I remember this. It really brings back memories. My first memory of this thing is when a classmate brought it into school and was showing it off. I was so jealous lol
2nd gen touch was my first iPod and first Apple product, remember everyone back then didn't have an iPhone my age so this was definitely the cool product to have. Something about having a full touch screen the captivated me, one of the selling games out at the time was Tap Tap Revolution. Total nostalgia...
I got mine around the same time when I was in 3rd grade. It was a 32GB model, and it blew everyone’s mind that you could have more than just one game on it at a time, since this is when we all had Nintendo DS handhelds. Those were some great times. Great video Luke!
My first device was the iPod video 5th generation. We were really blown away by it and has changed the way we listen to music ever since. Some great playlists came out of that
I love the 4th gen!! It’s my favorite!! The only problem with these sealed is that the batteries by now don’t hold a charge anymore but I’m assuming you won’t be daily using this. Also the Griffin case that covered the entire thing works to keep scratches and fingerprints off!! I currently am adding more music to it right now!! 😍
I bought one sealed from Spain back in February of 2020. I unboxed it on its 10th anniversary. Sadly doesn't really hold a charge and only lasts like 5 minutes.
iPod second get was my first personal Apple product. My father had a MacBook Pro and the iPhone 3G (might have been the 3Gs). I just was so fascinated by those product at the time, they were absolutely nothing like what I was used to seeing (keep in mind that this is 2008-2010 Ukraine we are talking about, so Apple products were a rare sight indeed). I loved that iPod so much and used it for like 4 years. This was the product that got me to appreciate how much better thought out Apple products were compared to the likes of early Samsung touchscreen feature phones. Apart from absolutely scratching the hell out of that shiny backplate, that iPod was just simply amazing to my 11-12 year old mind. Fair to say that this is want got me into tech to begin with. Thank you Luke for covering this great product that brings so many memories for me, and I am sure that I'm not the only one who has those fun childhood memories of these iPods!
This is also my first apple device ever. Thanks for the nostalgia trip! Although I remember my 5th gen iPod touch the most fondly. Maybe you can find that one sealed as well sometime :)
This is the one I had back in the day. It was a pretty nice time, WiFi was starting to become more accessible and the availability of Apps for communications were starting to be supported.
Seeing that you made this video makes me so incredibly happy. This was the first tech device I became completely infatuated with getting. I remember saving up for over a year and a half to be able to buy my own iPod touch 4th gen as a kid. I remember being incredibly excited to use a multi touch LCD display. It was insane technology from the future in my mind. This iPod is a legend! 😎
Second-gen iPod touch was my first apple product and it immediately became the love of my life! I also enjoyed how apple brought back the packaging style when the iPhone 5C was released
This brought back so many nice memories. I got mine in August of 2011 for 260 Euros. It was my first apple device and smart device ever. I was so amazed by all the things I could do with it and by how slim it was. The screen is broken but it still works and I still have the box for it. At the moment I live in the United States, but when I go back to Greece for vacation I will bring it back with me and repair the screen. It was running iOS 4.0.1 when I got it if I recall. Good times. Great video.
I had the ipod touch 4 too when i was young (my first apple product too) and it was one of the most important tech product of my life, I'll never forget it !
Ahhh the nostalgia! Also got the iPod Touch 4 back when in 2010, also comes with iOS 4.2.1!! Still remembered when I took it to some shop for jailbreak.
Aww, that definitely made me feel sentimental… I had a third gen that I bought as a birthday present for myself when I turned 40 and it became my voiceover IP phone (over Wi-Fi), camera, ebook and mobile computer all in one for traveling in Spain, Morocco and France. It was so useful and small… I didn’t have an iPhone then, and it was my low budg alternative for quite a while. I finally gave it to a friend when I got an iPad Mini.
The nostalgia hits so hard! My first iPod touch was the 3rd gen, and I still remember how magical it was using it for the first time, then loading doodle jump and jelly car onto it to play with my friends on the school bus. Thanks for this happy bit of history Luke!
I remember I got this for Christmas and was so happy. I wasn't allowed to have an iPhone at the time but I was able to do a lot of stuff on the ipod I could do on iPhone so I was happy enough.
my first real apple device. Saved up for it at 6 years old and bought one apple refurbished for $129. I still have it in a drawer somewhere. I turned it on a few months ago it still works and everything.
I had the 3rd generation iPod touch and absolutely loved it. It actually still works perfectly (except for the battery life and software support of course). Even all the buttons are still functional. That was a great piece of quality!
Hey Luke, this is really a nostalgic video for me, because this iPod touch was my first apple product ever. And just like you I got it at my 12th birthday in October 2010. Back then this device was so amazing and opened a new world for me. I was just so much better than my Nokia running Symbian which was my phone. And I still remember how me and my best friend were talking each day about all the things this iPod can do (always looking forward to the day where it’s waiting as birthday gift) and which version we should go for…white or black…how many gigabytes and so on. It was just so exciting back then and now 11 years later buying a device became “normal” compared to the feeling back then. Greetings from Germany
I had a 4th gen iPod Touch and loved it. So did my elder son. I replaced the headphone jack in his once. It wasn't too bad to work on either. Great little walk down memory lane, Luke. Thanks!
With this product, Apple actually helped create its future customer base. and she succeeded. I was in love with this iPod and spent all my money on this product. I still use my Apple ID that I opened that year. and I used ipod, iphone 4 iphone 5, iphone 5s 16gb-32gb, iphone Xr, iphone 14 pro max, macbook air 2012-2023 respectively. And it all started with just this iPod! That's incredible!
I appreciate your leaps and boundaries you had gone through. I ordered a refurbished IPod touch 2nd gen. Because I don’t want to go through the hassle of trying to get a unopen pristine version. But I remember the day I got mine in Tennessee for Christmas and I was just playing it on the car ride home. Just it was the most nostalgic piece I ever own
Ahhhh I remember my first Apple product that got me hooked. It was the 1st generation iPod Shuffle. What an iconic device…… this would be my first MP3 player and I remember just absolutely loving it. I was a kid, and this was my first tech product that wasnt a video game system. At last, a product that I could navigate and figure out and it felt so premium and intuitive. I wanted an iPod so badly but we were too broke growing up to afford one, but Apple released the budget iPod shuffle for $99 and it made for a great Christmas gift. I still have it sitting around somewhere as well as the box it came in.
I got this exact model as a christmas gift when I was 10. Was a very decent gaming device and I had so much fun with it. Played a TON of Minecraft and Skylanders on it!
My 30GB iPod from 2007 is still a (almost) daily driver for me. Still syncs with iTunes and great out on the motorcycle. If they still made the classic style I would buy another one now!
The 4th generation is definitely my favorite iPod touch. I didn't own one during its prime, but I picked one up a little while back to relive the old-school iOS. It had the best jailbreak-ability, wasn't slowed to a crawl with iOS 7, and had probably the best design for stainless steel iPod touches.
My parents bought me an iPod Touch 2nd Gen for my 8th birthday in November 2008, I still have it! Lots of memories on it. It was when the TH-cam app came standard on the device, with a totally different format. It locked me into Apple and I’ve only had Apple products since then.
I remember buying the 3rd generation iPod Touch and then the 4th a couple of years later - These two being my first Apple devices. Thanks for the amazing video, as always!
You just made my december, Luke. I had the same one and sold it to buy the iPhone 5, along with my 4. I was just thinking to get one again, and this was posted. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Cheers for the memories!
the iPod touch 4th gen was also my very first Apple product and I loved every bit of it. brings back so many good memories 🥰 back then iPhone prices were absurd - doesn’t make sense to purchase that expensive phone. but I guess people realized how valuable it became. now loving my iPhone 13 Pro 😍
I have two iPod touch 4s a black and a white one. The black one is obliterated, but the white one is in like great condition. Just with scratches of course, and I love it so much
I was never able to get a iPod Touch growing up. My sister bought me a iPod Video and later on I managed to get a free Sony PSP 1000 fat that was trashed with a missing battery door, broken UMD drive, broken shoulder triggers, and cracked screen. I managed to get a Pandora battery to play emulators off a tiny MemoryStick card and that was a ton of fun. I used that iPod every single day for 3 years straight. I still have it and made it better with a MicroSD adapter and big battery that lasts for a solid week.
I remember getting an early model iPod Touch and returning it in exchange for an iPod Classic because at the time, the earphones didn't even have a remote on them, and so every time I wanted to skip or replay a track, I needed to pull the device out of my pocket, unlock it, and use the touch screen, which was super annoying. With the Classic, I could just reach into my pocket and press the buttons on the Click Wheel without looking. Eventually they added the mic and remote to the earphones, which solved that problem.
My first Apple product was a pink iPod Mini that I bought from an eBay seller in 2004 and used for quite some time until I got a third gen iPod Touch (2008ish?) and, later, a fifth gen (early 2010s). I gave the third gen Touch to my mom when I got the fifth gen; the mini and fifth gen Touch -- both used to the point where they had to stay plugged in all the time -- are long gone now.
Oh man so many memories. I got my Ipod touch 4th gen in 2011. I loved it. Then I sold it for the 5th gen ipod and later i sold that one and got the ipad mini 2 in 2015 that still works flawless today. What’s funny is that I accidentally kept some things from those devices. From the 4th gen ipod, I still have the hard plastic where the ipod sat, and the og sticker that was in front. From the 5th gen ipod I have the strap
iPod Touch 3rd Generation was my first entry back into the world of Apple. I still have that iPod Touch. It still works and is in front of me on the desk. It's still very cool.
My first iPod was Nano 3rd Gen, but then later got the iPod Touch 3rd Gen when it was released. It was the BEST thing. There just was NOTHING like it before. It was unbelievable to be able to access the full internet, play whatever games and listen to music on it. Back then I guess Apple wasn't so strict on what was allowed in App store, I remember all those useless apps :D
I also have my first Smart device (not smartphone) that is this 4th gen iPod Touch, have got some mad nostalgic memories when taking photos with it. Until last year, got a Note 10+ and still use it as the sidekick until it died.
I got my white 4th gen iPod touch in the summer of 2012 from Best Buy, but later had to sell it a few years ago. Still miss that iPod, and that classic iOS 6 design.
Luke I had the same exact iPod in the same exact year I purchased it because I needed a portable camera to snap some photos and video while I was working as an extra on a movie and till this day I still have not released the photos and video from the movie that I work on it’s called safe with Jason Statham but anyway I also did it in boxing way back when
My first iPhone was an iPhone 3g. I remember being blown away that I could play a first person view racing game on a phone. I don’t remember what game it was but it looked better than my PS2 lol
Man, you just brought me memories of the first iPhone I ever used: the iPhone 4. Those glorious sounds and skeuomorphic design never goes out of style. Thank you for making this video!
This also was my first Apple product! I was 15 yo and was not able to buy a new one, so I collected money for almost one year, and when I finally got it, I just sat on the bench near postal office, opened the box... And then my Apple journey started!
This was my first Apple product ever too. I miss the good old days with this. Mine technically still works but the LCD is broken. If I got it replaced, it would be working again
I got one of these iPods (or the previous generation, it was the one without a camera), as well as a combo printer/scanner, for free with the purchase of my MacBook Pro in 2010. Apple has some of the best deals for college students.
Just a tip, when you need to handle something without smudging your fingerprints all over it, clean off your fingers with some rubbing alcohol. It’ll dissolve all of the oils your skin generates and you’ll have about 10 minutes to handle something fully smudge free. Don’t do it too often though.
Interesting, because this too was my first Apple product. What I like best about it is music played from this device is incomparable to anything else I've played music from........and you can take that to the bank!!
Well, this was so nostalgic . I mean I didn’t own an iPod before or AT ALL. My first Apple products that I owned was my first generation iPad with 64GB or storage and 3G (maxed out). It’s not used much . As apps are getting out of service on iOS 5.1.1 but hey it’s still old Apple tech .
This is nostalgic i also had ipod touch 4th 10years ago. However i would say displays ain't the same if you compare iphone 4g and ipod 4th it's same resolution and size, but panels are different. 4th was just basic ips and side to side it was blueish while iphone 4g had perfect viewing angles and color.
The best iPod ever made is actually the 5.5 generation Video iPod by miles. The User interface is so simple. Captures Apple design perfectly. And it’s got the legendary Wolfson DAC. I had the iPod touch but the experience was sterile compared to the iPod classic with its click wheel. The prices for these models are also going up.
I have 2 IPod Touch 4s. They are both 32 gb models. The first was my original one from 2010. The battery is getting a bit worn, and the touch button stopped working after it fell in a sink (I use the virtual button). I bought the second just a few weeks ago, and both the battery and the touch button work well. Both are ok, but not a pretty as yours! I was curious how useful they would be today, so I wiped both of them. I discovered that they cannot access the App or ITunes Store, so I just loaded them up with music (from my old ITunes library of ripped CDs), videos, and audio books, which frees up space on my phone. I was surprised that IOS 6 came with maps, messages, and FaceTime. I can even access TH-cam via Safari. All in all, they are still both surprisingly useful.
I love iPods, my first contact with Apple was a second hand iPod touch 3G that a friend sold me, I love it and a few months later I bought the iPod touch 4G, one of the best Apple products I had.
You're 23?? I'm not dissing you at all, you look great, but I thought you were in your late 20's. Even more impressive that you have such a solid channel so young, congrats man n.n
I still have this. I hoard old games, some that I worked on. The good thing about it is they never bother updating it to iOS7, so it doesn’t have the issues the iPhone 4 had on its final OS, and it still runs fine :) Except the battery went to shit, so it can barely play two albums before it dies.
I'd love to see something like "The ultimate 2010 Apple ecosystem" it might as well break my heart as the iPhone 4 was my first iPhone...

I gave the third gen Touch to my mom when I got the fifth gen; the mini and fifth gen Touch -- both used to the point where they had to stay plugged in all the time -- are long gone now.
my first trek into the iPhone world and one of my favorite Apple products; this iPod touch generation and the 5th generation iPod are untouchable
I remember when the 4th gen came out. I had my 3G and everyone had their 4th. I was so jealous ):
Thank you for this video! I can’t find any modern videos of old iPod touches being unboxed. Great job as always.
I still use my 3rd gen iPod Touch daily. I bought the 64 Gig version in late 2008. Fantastic device.
I got my white 4th gen iPod touch in the summer of 2012 from Best Buy, but later had to sell it a few years ago. Still miss that iPod, and that classic iOS 6 design.
This is so cool to see Luke. The 4 was my second Apple product ever. The first being the iPod right before this one.
I had this one back in the day. I was 8 years old. I remember the built on TH-cam app in this. I used to watch videos on it for hours.
Luke I had the same exact iPod in the same exact year I purchased it because I needed a portable camera to snap some photos and video while I was working as an extra on a movie and till this day I still have not released the photos and video from the movie that I work on it’s called safe with Jason Statham but anyway I also did it in boxing way back when
I really love of video, really really really the best I can see this forever. I have my iPod touch fourth generation Q, a lot of nostalgic
This was awesome. I too had a 4th gen iPod touch, still have a sample test video up on one of my random TH-cam channels.
This is actually so true this is the first apple device I had and it served me for many years and I agree this is the best iPod ever made (imo)
This also was my first Apple product!
I was 15 yo and was not able to buy a new one, so I collected money for almost one year, and when I finally got it, I just sat on the bench near postal office, opened the box... And then my Apple journey started!
This is the same ipod model that I dug out of a skip bin at the tip. Works like a charm.
It was my first introduction to ipods. I loved that thing
Just a tip, when you need to handle something without smudging your fingerprints all over it, clean off your fingers with some rubbing alcohol. It’ll dissolve all of the oils your skin generates and you’ll have about 10 minutes to handle something fully smudge free. Don’t do it too often though.
It all started for me too with the iPod touch 4th gen, wow!
I bought a 6th gen iPod touch with my own money after Christmas. I still have it and I’m happy with it
I have a shattered 5th generation that still works, and I occasionally use it. it runs iOS 12.0.5...
This really brings me back to middle school! This iPod was my first iOS device.
My dad used an iPod touch 4th generation and now it’s mine, and it’s pretty cool.
I have an ipod photo 40gb and its amazin prabably the second best ipod
I love iPods, my first contact with Apple was a second hand iPod touch 3G that a friend sold me, I love it and a few months later I bought the iPod touch 4G, one of the best Apple products I had.
any suggestion on how to replace the battery?
You're 23?? I'm not dissing you at all, you look great, but I thought you were in your late 20's. Even more impressive that you have such a solid channel so young, congrats man n.n
I still have this. I hoard old games, some that I worked on. The good thing about it is they never bother updating it to iOS7, so it doesn’t have the issues the iPhone 4 had on its final OS, and it still runs fine :)
Except the battery went to shit, so it can barely play two albums before it dies.
My 1st Apple product was a Macintosh 7200. The 1st Apple product I ever used was an SE
🆙Thanks for watching 🔝🔝message right away I have something for you 🆙🆙🆙
