We got this Yaris at home since 2006 (1.3 Petrol 87hp) with 120.000km. In 16 years we only changed the clutch and a few light bulbs. This car is amazing.
I have the 2007 1.5G Yaris. After more 16 years, the only major mechanical part I replaced was the rear wheel bearing with ABS sensor and front shock absorbers. This car is built like a tank! Still keeping this Yaris for another 16 years!
Congrats on the Yaris =). I have a question about replacing the rear wheel bearing. How do you know when it's time to replace it? Did you hear humming, other sounds of some sort?
I have this Yaris since 2013. Mine is the TRD Sportivo which is the highest trim level sold here in my country. It has this fancy TRD bodykit, leather wrapped steering wheel with red stitching, black and red seats and disc brakes on all four tires. It has the 1.5L 1NZ-FE making 109 bhp with the 4 speed torque converter. It is a cool hatchback, many young people modified their Yaris with a new set of wheels and lowering kit. They're never meant to be fast, they're just meant to look cool while hanging out with ur friends. But if you want to make it fast there's a turbo kit for the 1NZ sold in Thailand 🙂
I've been driving a 2008 here in the US for the last 4 years (even the same color). The only non-maintenance item I've had to replace is the radiator, which I did myself for little money. The car has been ultra reliable. There are quirks, however. The driving position still seems odd to me after 4 years (the seat is far too high) and some guages in the center cluster are impossible to read in daylight. Overall though, very pleased
Great little car with a lot of space.I have the d4d for 11 years, got it used and i really love it.Had some problems but other cars had worse.Still its alive and kicking.....
I love the way this 2009 Yaris looks from the back and side but I hate the Front design but ultimately, the Yaris 2009 it's a good performing reliable low-budget car that keeps on going And the 2009 Yaris model particularly is probably one of the best Yaris's to come off the production line
I have the 1.33L 100hp one, and it's great. The gearbox is so nice and positive. I've had zero major problems with it, but it uses some oil and seems to have lost a little bit of power. Now I replace the oil every 6 months to slow down engine wear and oil consumption. Planning to do an engine flush too.
2:40 certainly best super mini on the road so we’ll built puts other cars I’ve driven to shame, not best drive but fine incredible reliability comfort and economy so we’ll designed mine is 1.0 very nippy have to ref willing engine .So just so good
Here in the Philippines its called Toyota Vios mine is 2021 model and its a good looking and a comfortable car to drive apple and Android car play on the go and its build like a Tank. 💪💪
I have the one with the 1.33 L 1NR-FE motor. Hugely practical car, I absolutely love it. However, this engine starts consuming oil rather quickly. I'm at 180k km now, I think it lost quite a bit of power compared to new. Bought myself a GR86 on the side to compensate :)
I have the Yaris from 2002 and it’s such a great car 5L/100 of fuel consumption And it just works But because of local laws, i must change my car before 1st Jan 2023 because my car « pollute » too much 🤷♂️ Anyway it don’t gonna stop me picking Yaris Maybe the Yaris III 🤔 Anyway it’s insane to see that a old car like that just works and consume so less fuel
every sucker knows that this 1.33 6 speed can be problematic. the 1.0 and the 1.3 87hp 5 speed is a lot more reliable (available until the facelift in 2009)
@@triciaparker5077rhd u have to loosen the wing on drivers side. Passengers easy. U tube video show how. A pain but 20 min job. Really not hard and done 100k in 1.0 petrol service parts and back box. 50 + mpg. Slow but cruise at 70. Been spain and Belgium
I own one, and you will lack power uphill and when accelerating onto highways. You can mitigate this by planning ahead, and knowing that the engine pumps out most torque at 3600 rpm. Otherwise it's perfect if you just need to get from A to B. I get 4.2 l/100km on longer drives, and seems to hold up well on those too (although I wish there was a higher gear for highway cruising, 3000 rpm in 5th gear at 90 kmph).
Yeah just about the best built supermini ever made. If you play top trumps with the under £5k, £30 a year tax petrol cars then the MK2 1.33 Yaris cleans up.

Thank you so much for this information as i just bought a 2006 MK2, i pick it up tomorrow.
You really have put my mind at rest : )
This is still the most direct and informative site on YTube. The gold standard.
Thank you so much, greatly appreciated.
This generation of Yaris seems to be the last true economy car.

The Yaris that was reviewed in the video is still on the road - think that says a lot about the quality of this model
Had my 2009 for around a year, love it.

Update: the power loss seemed to be caused by a defective lambda sensor. Dealership changed it, I got some power back.

Clean the pcv valve vlogs on here will likely stop oil consumption as car cant breathe and burns oil

Fabulous car so well built
I have the 2007 diesel 1,4 manual version, best city car ever
Like a younger William Woollard, in presenting style.
I bought the 2007 TOYOTA YARIS for my dad, and my dad said in the depression time having this small car to drive is good😊

They still sell for so much money it's insane.
Best most reliable superminis just not most dynamic. Mine 13 yrs old like new inside and out and even underneath
That is a beautiful Yaris
Ive a Yaris 2007 d4d now with 280tkm. Changed only windshield because of stone on interchange and clutch changed 1x. Lol undestroyable...

Wow sucks you had to change the car! Which engine was the 2002? The 1.0 petrol?
Yaris or Jazz that is the question. Need a used cheap and reliable car for work
Good 👍 toyota yaris lovely car 🚗 I like
Can you do a video with a Toyota vitz
Very nice
My American spec 1.5 Yaris 5 speed stick gets about 40
The euro specs 55 ??
There's 1.33 petrol, and 1.4 diesel in the UK, not 1.5. And the UK gallon is different from an American gallon.
If you go with 70, over 65 on front tires ...much better grip on wet surfaces 💦✌
I wish mine is 4 door I hate 2 door
2 door is so much better
I want one of this. Use
Can someone tell me does yaris us spec with 1.5 petrol has cvt ose standard automatic transmission?
Atf
Gen 2 Yaris in the US pairs a 4-speed automatic transmission to the 1.5 L 1NZ-FE engine
