Does the USB port run constantly?
Yes, it will constantly as the car is programmed to have them on at all times!
Does it mess with the climate controls?
No, the harness it self is one but the plugs are completely separate from the lighter port!

Oh, this is actauly exactly what I was looking for, im looking for reference to install one of these in my Ford Windstar that I use to take the family on long trips. and I need a way to charge our devices really fast. Does this work on ALL types of cars or is this avalanche specific?
This works on all cars as long you disconnect the cigarette lighter port and do what I did in this video! Remember to disconnect the battery before working with electricity so you don’t blow any fuses
