Yesterday I decided to look into the symptoms of low sodium and decided to consume a lot more salt, than I usually do. About 1.5 teaspoon full thru the day, and today I feel so much better. As a African-American I was always told to avoid salt. Now I'm wondering if this is the missing piece of the puzzle, to my health issues, because I eat gluten free, very little grain, no wheat or dairy, and no alcohol, sugar and mostly organic green smoothies and meat but I still have very low energy. Whenever I go to the doctor they would ask me to tell them what I ate in a week, and then would tell me how great my diet is. When I would ask them why do I still feel like shit they would look confused and say "I don't know." I'm not going to be running any marathons anytime soon but I definitely feel better than I have in a while so I'll keep using the salt and see what happens. I'm just hoping it don't send my BP thru the roof.

The first thing you must learn is an MD,s training on health is abysmal. most of their training is drug related why? thats where the $$$ is. Healthcare is not about getting people healthy its about selling toxic drugs. Watch the video series 'the truth about cancer a global quest' doctors confess the lack of health knowledge theye posses. staying healthy is an individuals job not a job to be outsourced!

I shake my head all the time wondering how I have lived this long and just finding out this information. Recently, a cardiologist suggested well I think he suggested he might’ve said to remove salt and I might’ve heard him say lower my salt. Either way I started looking for alternatives because food without salt is just not worthy of my time. I’ve watched Barbara McNeill and love her programs, such a smart lady and I’m going to watch this video which I have not heard yet. I went to a local health food store to get Celtic salt. They don’t have it because of Barbara McNeil bet they suggested grey salt comparable to Celtic. I’m not sure about that. My husband and I are now putting a small portion of this salt on our tongue and drinking water. We are also using this in our food like scrambled eggs last night, and we had mashed potatoes, good. I’m learning.

I really need some help, I have been on keto for 4 months and loving it but since I started to take Celtic salt ai noticed I started to get some muscle cramps in my calves. The information on this is all over the place, some saying too much salt can cause muscle cramps and some saying too little. I am also supplementing with Magnesium Glyconate which so far has not made any improvement. I tried taking a bit more celtic salt and drinking more water and this has helped a little bit but not completely fixed it. Has anyone else had difficulties with this? I do understand that on keto the body uses electrolytes a bit different but I am at a loss as to what I am doing wrong.
I take cod liver oil and nutritional yeast every day too. Be good to hear if anyone has any answers.

@pgtips4240, I had the exact same issue with muscle cramping but the muscles all over my body. Fingers, toes, calves, etc.. I was told by my nutritionist to take potassium with the magnesium they work better together and he was right. Every once in a while when I get a sensation like beginning cramps I take salty water and drink about 8 oz in 5 minutes it's gone. But that action is rare.

Most people who are on dialysis have used over the counter drugs frequently which caused the kidney problems, high B/P, and all sort of other problems. Salt is not the culprit. But a poor diet certainly adds to the problems. Alcohol, cigarettes, sugar, grains, and dairy are the major contributors to poor health.
