BA also has a recipe for a chocolate stout cake running around.

It's kind of like trying to reinvent a t-shirt, you can agonize over differing the sleeve length by millimeters but there's not much to improve on. *for the record Chris is my favorite person and I don't think this was a fair comparison so I understand your frustration.

Cream cheese belongs on bagels and in cheese cakes, not in frostings. Why would you rob yourself of a sweet frosting on a chocolate cake and instead use something tangy? Its an abomination. Butter is a base ingredient, and provides very little flavor, whereas cream cheese is just way too tangy for a cake imo. Also its SO much heavier than buttercream
I found that in most cake recipes, you can sub the cream cheese with mascrapone cheese~! The taste becomes less acidic and much richer without compromising the texture and quality of what you're making 😊

@@A.Rua333 but the point of using it is because that's what the original recipe advises. you dont use a diferent frosting, in a "first time" recipe. specially since you dont know how well the frosting and the cake fit. as for "easy", the recipes arent that hard to make to begin with. throwing everything together isnt hard. and the weird ingredients dont count as making something harder, specially when they are as common as black beer and mayo. if anything, the temperature of the milk in the BA recipe would probably be harder to get on the first try.
How can you compare a one-layer cake with a three-layer cake? Bon Appetit has some great chocolate cakes. This one is the one they suggest for make-your-own box mix, so there's no way it'll compete. I'm sorry ... maybe you should put the Tasty cake up against one from Serious Eats?

that's not really a fair comparison. tasty's cake is much larger and that's why it seems like the butter and sugar quantities are a lot. chris' cake recipe would have a ton of oil if it made three cakes instead of one (and oil is pure fat whereas butter is not because it's a dairy product). tasty's cake is also called the "ultimate" chocolate cake, meaning it's meant to be very rich/indulgent, whereas chris' cake is a basic and simple chocolate cake. nothing wrong with your preference for chris' cake but the two can't really be compared fairly
The tasty cake is really good and worth it I made it for Thanksgiving I followed everything except the Stout which I replaced with butter milk and it came out amazing 👌 everyone raved about it
The two cakes side by side alone are complete opposites but in this case I would go for BA’s too mostly because of the simplicity and the frosting. I love buttercream frosting but it’s way to sweet even for a chocolate cake and I love cream cheese frosting.

kkim5000 i agree about most tasty recipes. They do have a few good ones though. However, I haven’t tried their ultimate chocolate cake yet, but I plan to. I know a lot of people have said it’s the best chocolate cake they’ve ever had. I still think Claire’s is really nice and will continue to make that one as well 😊

Maybe you should've matched one of BA's other chocolate cakes that have all the normal ingredients with this Tasty cake and another Tasty cake (3 ingredient or w/e) with this BA cake. I can't even make the best ever chocolate cake because of the alcohol so I'll probably never know what it tastes like. I also don't trust tasty recipies because any that I have tried have some kind of huge flaw and it's actually pretty ridiculous that they have such a huge following, but none of their recipies really work that well.
Shelm Mii I made the chocolate cake from tasty and instead of stout I used milk and it was actually really good. I hate chocolate cake but this was amazing. It took 4 hours but it was worth it and it’s way better when it’s cold
It’s normal to use beer in baking (at least here). Its a good substitute for yeast. subtract the amount used from the amount of Water/Milk so the batter dont get to liquidy. Then You just blend it with the wet ingredients. It Works great and depending om the type of beer you use and the amount it Can add flavor and character. Hope this makes sense.

I made Chris Morocco's chocolate cake twice last week. Dropped one at my parent's house, and the other at my sister's house. It was a huge hit, especially the frosting - they loved it all.
Chris's technique is called a melt and mix cake, the coco and baking powder leaven it enough that it doesn't need to be whipped, and the hot water/milk makes the coco more flavourful/smooths out the mixture

Chris's can literally be made in not even 5 minutes. His is basic but tastes amazing for how simple and cheap it is. And anybody can do it and not mess up. That's what makes it great. Tasty's is so much more complex. I was kind of expecting it to be better. I made Chris's before and the cake itself, no frosting, tastes so good.

@@supreme_aset777 have you tried tasty's cake? i've tried both several of BA's chocolate cakes as well as tasty's ultimate recipe, and though i normally hate tasty (it feels like they do things more for likes and views rather than for actual taste), their chocolate cake is seriously no joke and blows all of BA's chocolate cakes out of the water.
kkim5000 i agree about most tasty recipes. They do have a few good ones though.
However, I haven’t tried their ultimate chocolate cake yet, but I plan to. I know a lot of people have said it’s the best chocolate cake they’ve ever had. I still think Claire’s is really nice and will continue to make that one as well 😊

Thank you for the video, part of me thinks these 2 cakes weren't supposed to be in the same video together. Maybe you should've matched one of BA's other chocolate cakes that have all the normal ingredients with this Tasty cake and another Tasty cake (3 ingredient or w/e) with this BA cake. I can't even make the best ever chocolate cake because of the alcohol so I'll probably never know what it tastes like. I also don't trust tasty recipies because any that I have tried have some kind of huge flaw and it's actually pretty ridiculous that they have such a huge following, but none of their recipies really work that well.

Shelm Mii I made the chocolate cake from tasty and instead of stout I used milk and it was actually really good. I hate chocolate cake but this was amazing. It took 4 hours but it was worth it and it’s way better when it’s cold
Alcohol cooks off but if you really feel like you need to omit it you can replace it with coffee

The cream cheese bias is a you problem.
It’s normal to use beer in baking (at least here). Its a good substitute for yeast. subtract the amount used from the amount of Water/Milk so the batter dont get to liquidy. Then You just blend it with the wet ingredients. It Works great and depending om the type of beer you use and the amount it Can add flavor and character.

I made Chris Morocco's chocolate cake twice last week. Dropped one at my parent's house, and the other at my sister's house. It was a huge hit, especially the frosting - they loved it all.
I made Chriss cake 3 days ago and I couldn't taste cream cheese in my frosting, not even a little bit
Chris's technique is called a melt and mix cake, the coco and baking powder leaven it enough that it doesn't need to be whipped, and the hot water/milk makes the coco more flavourful/smooths out the mixture

Chris's can literally be made in not even 5 minutes. His is basic but tastes amazing for how simple and cheap it is. And anybody can do it and not mess up. That's what makes it great. Tasty's is so much more complex. I was kind of expecting it to be better. I made Chris's before and the cake itself, no frosting, tastes so good.
