Blood curdlingly brilliant! I loved it so much as a 7 year-old... still do today. It's totally unique and unsurpassed. One of the reasons I got into synthesizers!
@@krane15 LOL, while it is iconic ,and I love the Seaview, we never heard a startup of its engines, the Flying Sub yes,but never Seaview unfortunately, I'd like to think tho it would have been something awesome.
@@kevinmiller8191 Its available on Amazon Music (or lower quality youtube). There are several version including w/lyrics. I prefer the classic version performed by The City Of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.
Oh my the Jupiter 2 was moved from the VAB to Pad 39A via the Crawler-Transporter. I remember the three launch gantries around the J-2. The two people in the corner must be the General and the security guard from Reluctant Stowaway.
As much as I researched, I could never find out what was used to create the Awesome sounds of the Jupiter 2's engine. From the full power sound at liftoff from Earth, in mid Space Flight, to crash landings. There's also the 4 stage engine sound before liftoff. It's the coolest sound for a Space Ship.
My theory is that sound effects used the sound of a Electrolux vacuum cleaner sound in slow motion. That's exactly what my parents sounded like every time Mom turned it on.
I read years ago that the engine sound is a pipe organ and the "wind" sound used throughout the series is the whirring gears of a forklift. Both sounds were manipulated on variable speed tape decks and reverb and echo was added.
@@JR-jw8lk There’s definitely a wind instrument aspect to it. There are a number of server computers that approximate part of the sequence when they first boot up and all their fans go to full speed.
@@mariej3198 Who would have thought 😊 Just like in Return of The Jedi. Emperor Palpatine's Dark Force Lightning strikes on Luke Skywalker was created by putting a penny on a block of Dry Ice and the popping sound came from the classic Frankenstein Movie.
That's also the same sound used on the pilot episode of Batman when Molly , dressed as Robin climbed the atomic pile in the Bat cave, right before she was sucked in. The atomic pile built up while she was trying to get away from Batman.then she slipped and fell in. " Poor diluted girl, what a way to go go". She's the only criminal to ever die in the Bat cave. However I liked the scene of the Jupiter 2 as it lifted off into space with that glow around it .
HOW did Don Hall,Jr. and Robert Cornett create this gigantic SOUND (also heard on other Irwin Allen productions,i.e.,The Time Tunnel and Voyage To The Bottom of the Sea?) Think it's some kind of echoplexed siren.....
Amazing sound, captivated me when I was little, captivated me now at nearly 61.
There is no sound quite like this, it just screams barely controlled particle accelerator, it’s absolutely incredible

There are 3 iconic engine sounds, the 66 Batmobile, the Enterprise going to warp , and the J2, not ever to be forgotten. Well done.
What no love for the SSRN Seaview sonic ping?

@@krane15 I would have loved to have had a full-length version of the opening theme. That music screams nautical themes.

Listen to this bad boy with headphones the next time you takeoff in an airliner.
Talk about awesome.
Genius!

Love the J2 on the crawler!

@John Moran
Yes, it was a pipe organ used to make the engine sound.

THAT'S SUCH A GREAT SOUND , I WISH I COULD HAVE A CAR SOUND LIKE THAT WHEN YOU START IT UP .
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Timeless, enigmatic sound when the J2 fires those hyper atomic puppies up!!
Music to my ears.
Irwin Allen was a genius!
The detail is great, with General Mason and a guard standing in the foreground......
That looks real looking
I bet nasa would love to have a real Jupiter 2 for local jonts around are solar system.

Those same sound effects can be heard in the bat cave occasionally from the 1960's Batman series.
That sound reminds me of a better time. A time without all the hate, fear and bureaucratic betrayal of these times. Thank you.
A time without Joe Biden
VERY COOL. & GREAT PICTURE
Also the sound of the Icarus from Planet of the Apes.
Yeah, I was in the movie theater and was so happy to hear that sound again!
Good call, spockboy! 🎯
If i ever get an EV, this is how I want it to sound😊
Cool
How did you make it? Sounds great!
There's a general engine video on youtube, but I fiddle with the pitch, reverb etc. as I think it is pitched too high.
Gee sounds like the Time Tunnel
