    Fighters should focus on properly training and being healthy mentally and physically, instead of worrying about weight. Fight, train, and whatever weight you land at, thats the weight you stay with. Its bad enough your fighting for your life, then you have to worry about the fucking weight. I remember when i fought amatuer, i went from like 250 to like 212, then 195, I was fighting all the time, training all day, running non stop, even in the winter. I was trying to eat healthy and trying to cut my calories...my knees and my legs were just non existent. My knees and legs were always hurting, always in pain. Cant believe it now, honestly, i would have been better just at 225 lbs, id be fit, but not killing myself with overtraining and undereating. EAT HEALTHY, TRAIN HARD, FIGHT SMART, DONT WORRY ABOUT WEIGHT!.

    • @Flexb123
      @Flexb123 6 ปีที่แล้ว +45

      Oscar was one of the best p4p fighter of my generation. Only exception would be Roy jones. But Oscar in his prime was almost unbeatable. Only fight he lost in his prime was to a prime undefeated Mosley and he only beat Oscar by 1 round as Oscar gassed a bit down the stretch, but Mosley was also probably using PEDs (later was busted for them), which would make sense how he didn't tire in such a high volume of punches fight. But prime Oscar would have destroyed Floyd, without question. Floyd only beat Oscar by 2 rounds and that version of Oscar had already lost a few times and was about 7 years past his prime!

    • @kingjayswishiii_388
      @kingjayswishiii_388 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Flexb123 Floyd wouldn't have lost.

    • @Flexb123
      @Flexb123 6 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      Are you kidding? Oscar was 7-8 years past his prime, much slower, didn't have the energy, didn't have the same power and lost to Floyd by a SINGLE round on one judges score card in the split decision loss. And before Oscar gassed out, he was winning on the scorecards past the half way point of the fight. Emmuanel stewart who loved FLoyd was commentating and even said he had to admit Floyd was going to lose if he didn't pick it up. And he didn't pick it up, Oscar just slowed down, stopped throwing punches, was more of an upright target and was getting hit easier as he gassed.. This was past his prime when he was fighting drug addiction. But if you don't think a prime, 25-30% faster, stronger, Oscar wouldn't have been able to win a couple more rounds, you're insane. Through Floyd's entire Career, he never fought anything remotely close to a prime Oscar or Mosley. Both those guys in their prime's were absolute beasts, crazy fast with crazy power and granite chins. Prime for prime, I bet both Mosley and Oscar KO Floyd.

    • @Flexb123
      @Flexb123 6 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      Danny, ya all anyone has to do is go watch one of his fights, even the first fight with Mosley and then go watch his fight with Floyd. Look how much slower Oscar is, didn't open up the same with that lightning quick speed and power. He was still relatively quick when he fought Floyd, but wasn't lightning fast anymore. And do believe he was fighting drug addictions at that time also, which would account for him gassing against a fighter like Floyd who puts zero pressure on you (its like Oscar got tired just chasing him around) prime Oscar wouldn't have gotten tired like that. And I remember his trainer for that fight, Roach, after the fight said Oscar just can't pull the trigger anymore. Basically saying he's done, washed up. And really he was. But that just goes to show u how damn good he really was. Took Floyd on in Floyd's prime, was beating him past the half way point of the fight, and really Floyd only took over the fight because Oscar slowed down and gassed a bit.

    • @kingjayswishiii_388
      @kingjayswishiii_388 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Flexb123 😂Floyd called all of them out in the early 2000's and they didn't want to fight. It didn't matter how old they were, they still would've lost.

    Oscar was a beast. In his prime he had all the fundamentals down and he had great abilities as a fighter, very talented. His addictions kept him from possibly being a top 5 fighter of all time. His body didn't age that well. But still is an all time great, up there with the best and he was the first fighter to bring the most amount of money to the sport, only Mayweather ended up generating more and of course it started when he fought Oscar De La Hoya.

      Matt Chow Nice, good for you man switched stances about a year ago.. best decision I ever made my jab is incredible, I'm 0-2 orthodox, 0-0 as a Sothpaw can't wait to test it in a real match though

    I hated oscar as a promoter he seems shady. But that interview showed how passionate he is about boxing from a fighters perspective and you gotta respect that. I fought as an amateur and the stuff he said about thinking about food and starving resonated with me. Also about not being able to get up from nerves, oh man. I remember having so many nervous ticks just waiting for my match out of like 20 matches. One of my coaches hated me because i would get so edgy and irritable before a fight he stopped working with me.

    I remember in 5th grade I started boxing and I had no left jab, my brother tied my right and just threw jabs 100 at a time. I got a good left in a week. Good for me me not hood enough to make money.

    is why fight at that weight class. unless its a big money fight i've never understood why fighters dont just fight at their natural weight.

    I don't understand why many boxers complain about how they suffer to make weigh for a fight, if they do it it's because they want to get some advantage over smallers guys, so if you don't want to have that "advantage", you gotta sacrifice something, isnt it?
