I used to love running, still do. As a policeman in the UK being able to run fast was pretty much essential. I walked a lot too. Nowadays, in my seventies I walk more than I run, mostly with my dog. I don't don't think one is better than the other. My experience was that running improved my fitness more than walking. I'm not convinced on the vanity vs humility thing.
@@tomtucker83agreed. The vanity v humility thing seems judgemental too me. I do both. I’ve run marathons and walked long distances. Training for each is a joy.
Loved this podcast! I have been listening for about 8 months. I started running at age 50 and used to do 2 half marathons a year. But all that stress on my knees caught up with me and I had to stop. Walking has turned out to be a perfect answer to my current needs. I love the encouragement this channel provides and have made a serious commitment to walking as part of my daily routine. Thanks Dave!
About 20 years ago I walked very much. I loved it and felt good. Then I got married, moved away from where I knew every street. No friends and my hubby do not like walking. I walked, but only now and then. Weight gain and loss of happiness have finally made me understand that walking was and is my medicin. Now I walk every day. I do not need a friend to walk with. I like my own company, and slowly my happiness is coming back. Thank you for your videos.
I loved what you said. When faced with the idea of leaving what I do and what I am, I have to weigh up the good things I will lose in search of something unknown. These videos are inspiring. I am walking every day. If I change my routine I might lose my enthusiasm. Greetings from Buenos Aires.
Thank you for your good videos; they are encouraging and interesting. I am endeavoring to walk at least 3 miles a day and when I do, I feel great. Sometimes my schedule (or the weather here in western NY state!) doesn’t permit me to do this, but I walk whenever I can.
Thanks.. sitting in de train to work in Amsterdam as a walker myself it is pleasant to hear you talk about walking how it is good for body and soul.. subscribed and wish you a nice day👍😀
Hi! Finally subscribed to your TH-cam 😄. I’m not a runner because it’s just awkward for me. I do add sprints sometimes. I’ve been an avid walker since 2020.
Ran for 3 years in my 50s but unfortunately stopped due to pain. Had always thought I couldn’t run so was glad I tried and did my only 8k. Walk most days now retired and it’s great 👍. Hi from SE Uk 😃
I'm 53 and I do two to three sets if HIIT during the week approx 20 minutes a session and walk for slow to quick pace everyday for half an hour. It works wonders for me, however I'm fit and hiit isn't for a lot of people as it's full on and can be very taxing for the heart..
I have been watching your videos for six months. Always gain valuable knowledge. But this is likely the best one yet. On our walks, we often see other regulars- including runners and I have wondered if I should be running instead. This video clarifies my wife and I are on the right track. And, I should add, I just had my annual physical and my blood pressure dropped considerably. At 62 this is very gratifying. All because of walking three miles a day religiously. Thank you!
running...you just get there faster....hahahahahah....most runners I knew when I was younger have really bad knees now...and now I couldn't run even if I hear the ice cream truck coming !!!! bahahahahahahah
My opinion is that BOTH running and walking can help people life a happier, healthier, more fulfilling life. I don’t think it is a walking versus running issue- I think it’s a what’s-helping-you-most-right-now issue. If running fills that void it’s not vain. Same with walking. I do agree that there can be pretense and elitism surrounding running but one CAN choose to ignore that and not participate in the racing pageantry- and just run for yourself ❤
I agree. I was a runner and a married to a runner. But, for me, walking is way better…which is the point of your comment…what works best for you. Thanks for watching!
Running has been grossly oversold to the public. Walking is undersold. Running is vanity. Walking is humility.
The vanity part was certainly true for me and I say as much in the video. Thanks for watching Charlie

You've hit the nail on the head @charlesbroadway ! Absolutely agree.
Very inspirational, thank you! At 55, I've never felt better walking, hiking and cycling. I work out twice a week and walk every day.
Love this!! Thanks for watching…

good morning from cold Ontario
Good morning from cold Myrtle Beach! Although, I’m guessing it’s a warmer cold than what you’ve got
What’s your thoughts on rucking, walking with weight?
I’ve not done it, but I keep hearing about the benefits of rucking. One of these days, I’ll try it and do a video about it.

I think (know) most runners are runners to get done exercising QUICKER. The end.
That was part of my struggle before I finally decided to stop running and start walking
❤

I saw these videos of Slow Jogging by a late Japanese professor. It looks a bit funny when you do it but I personally feel that it works.
Sir,running is life.
