It is so refreshing to see someone go out of their way to make a video to try and help others be more capable. These kind of people make the world a better place. Respect.
I recently have had both knees replaced and cannot kneel on them. I ended up on the floor a few days ago, unable to get up. I was able to scoot myself backward to my bed and reach behind me to the bed frame side rails. From there, I pushed myself up a little at a time; with each push I brought my feet closer to my body and my rump a little higher against the side of the bed. Eventually I made it up high enough to scoot on to the bed. I challenge somebody to come up with a “no kneeling” method, because it ain’t easy!
I agree, I am only in my 50s but have bad knees. I have had a couple of falls whilst out with my dogs, one time I was lucky as someone helped me up but the other there was no one around and I had to get onto my knees to get up which was excrutiating. I now walk with a walking pole to help avoid having another fall! All the advice videos I have seen show kneeling to get up.
Thank you for this. I actually watched this on my phone while on my bathroom floor after a bad back spasm. This video kept me calm, and helped me assess that no serious damage was done- I just needed to wait for help to arrive.
This was amazing...relazing and taking your time is key. After having a stroke I have been left with the fear of falling. This should be covered with any and all rehab! THANK YOU ♥️
That’s my problem I’m always in a rush which is the reason I fall then I’m too exhausted to get up then I get overheated 🥵 which is so counterproductive for me 😆
I trained to use horticulture as a therapy and rehab aid. It is especially good for post cardiac and stroke problems. It benefits the mind as well as the body. The therapist will tailor the tasks to the needs of the client. Starting small and gradually doing more demanding tasks and spending more time. Working outside or even in a greenhouse. In a group but not necessarily working as a group. (I am one of those who likes company but not crowds ). Growing plants has its own rewards of course.
This gives great helpful hints and if you are a caretaker as I was for my mother the first thing is to calm them down and give them moral support that they will get up. I came home to find my mother on the floor scared exhausted and frustrated- so all of you with foolish comments think twice - you may be elderly yourself
I recently had a crash to the floor when carrying my robot cleaner. The first place I scooted was to the freezer for some ice for my knee! Then I scooted back to the couch and did basically what you demonstrated. Apart from a nasty bruise, I was ok. The vacuum cleaner, sadly, was not. It’s dead. Thank you for sharing this important information. I will pass on to my client who has MS and sometimes falls.
EXCELLENT INSTRUCTION. I have fallen several times and managed to scoot myself to furniture where I could pull myself up. One observation. I am unable to put weight on my knees, its just too painful, but if I can get one foot on the floor I can push or hoist myself up. Last time I fell I managed to scoot to bedroom to get my cell phone and call for help from a neighbour, then to front door to unlock it. I am 84.
I'm 70 and live in a rural area. Last Winter I fell outside while shoveling snow and had to crawl across the yard, on my hands and knees in the snow, to get to a tree that I could use to stand up. It must have looked funny and I only wish I had a video of it.
Keep small aluminum pipe whistle on your Keychain, lanyard, attached to a rollator or chair. It can be heard when your possibly too weak to yell or been down for so long your tired of yelling.
Thank you. I slipped and fell on my cement garage floor and fell on my left knee. Thank God it was not my replaced knee. It did take several minutes but I finally got up off the floor. Thank you for your video and now I know how to get up off the floor. ❤ I am also 72 yrs. young.
Omg what a fabulous video, thank you thank you thank you I suffer with arthritis in my hips knees hands & feet & sometimes when I try to clean low surface’s such as the skirting boards it’s hard to get back up, It’s frustrating to say the least this is a brilliant video TFS LOVE LIGHT & ANGEL BLESSINGS FROM ACROSS THE POND 🇬🇧 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I too have had both knees replaced and cannot kneel. I fell several weeks ago in the bathroom. I was able to get myself into a seated position. From there, I scooted myself over to the basement steps. By sliding my feet and legs down the first few steps, I was able to stand up. I have railings and grab bars installed to facilitate getting my self easily up the stairs.
Excellent....now why in the world don’t we do that with friends and family....let’s go through the house to imagine what is the closest thing to get an assist, let’s talk about options with each other and for each other. Most people have heavy cushions on couch and chairs which are removable. Once slid off the couch, you're 5 inches "taller", and when you sit on the cushion, you can now sit on the couch frame.
The best advice I heard here was “ calm down . You’re already on the floor , you cannot go any further.” I quickly found that when I told my mother “ok. No problem. You’re fine.let’s think of a way for you to get up and see if you can do it on your own.” She calmed down and felt empowered - as opposed to me buying into the panic and picking her up immediately. Now if she falls, she is much calmer about it, and immediately looks for a solution. No fear, and no panic.
Big red! Love hearing the you stayed calm, so your mom did. I have seen many secondary back injuries, and or falls with broken bones from Good Samaritans rushing in to help, then injuring the person further, or themselves. The Brits were right- stay calm and carry on!
This is helpful, I have been having difficulties getting up for a while. Going to my knees is a problem, they hurt. I have never thought about just scooting to something safe to use to get up. That is helpful. Most of the time I have my phone, but occasionally I don’t.
This was helpful I’m recovering from MS and cancer andI have fallen quite a bit (broke ankle once and femur) my Dr told me I’m not allowed to fall anymore but “stuff happens” so thx for the tips ❤
This was a wonderful video. I have a medical condition where I fall quite frequently and lose my balance I will definitely be using this.thank you for posting this.
My lower legs are weak so moving into the position of bent knee to raise up is almost impossible. I walk fine, I work in the yard, sit and get up to stand. But I cannot cross my legs when I'm seated, lower legs from knee down so weak. Upper body is fine. I fell in the yard a few weeks ago, so I crawled like a toddler across the yard, got to the chaise lounge. Its low so I reached across it and pulled myself on it, wasn't easy but I did it.
I just slipped and fell on an icy spot in my driveway. I landed on my head first and then banged on my left shoulder. I panicked for a moment and then somehow managed to get up and return to my home. I was dizzy and had a throbbing headache. I then admitted myself to the emergency where they X-rayed to find 6 broken ribs. I was admitted to intensive care, where they monitored everything including my heart rate. Interestingly my heart rate was below 40. Doctors suggested a pacemaker and I agreed for the surgery.
Margaret Norvell thank you for your kind reply and concern. Yes, I have recovered from the trauma I encountered. One led to another, and it was hard on my family. Considering the Covid crisis, now I think what I encountered is minor. I pray everyday for the entire world for speedy recovery and well being. Thanks again. God bless.
That fall may have saved your life - as it showed you needed a pacemaker. I was getting my mail one night and thought to my self that I should be careful as the paved driveway looked a bit like it might have black ice on it. The next thing I new I was looking at my feet shoot past my head. I had groceries in both hands, so I couldn't even put my hands out to brace myself. I banged my head really hard on the driveway, and was aware of a possible concussion, but other than like you, having a headache, I had no ill effects. I did have to lay on the driveway and collect my wits and groceries. Thankfully people in my family have exceptionally hard and thick skulls.
My 83 yr old father fell frequently but lacked the body strength to do these steps. A nurse recommended we call 911 and ask for lift assist. Our fire dept came several times to help, checked his vitals, and got him up and settled. Now my mom is doing PT to get stronger in case she falls again. It’s good for me to know the steps demonstrated in case I need to help her. Thank you.
Sitting on the floor, at work - we had to watch vendors do their job - I used to just spring up - no problems, no issues - then somewhere around the age of 55, my spring wasn't so springy any more. The last few years at that job, it got harder and harder to get up. And some of the vendors I know were much older than me, and they still acted and moved like they were 20 ! I always found it so amazing, they could do that !
Thanks you so much for sharing your precious video with us🙏 I did fall numerous of time recently…thanks God that my husband’s near me to help and lifted me up🙏🙏🙏
Also, my cell phones don't last more than a few years. If they are kept charged, they are programmed to call 911 even without service, so keep your old phones keep them charged and place in a lower kitchen cabinet and especially in a bathroom lower drawer or cabinet. Most injurious falls occur in the bathroom. You can always log roll to a cabinet or drawer.
This is very helpful. Backing up to chair is a great idea. But my knees are bad, I know I couldn’t kneel on them to push up. Thinking abt it, this is where I could back up until I find my phone! Thank you so much, I never considered that. ❤😊
I have Guillian Barre and slipped and fell on my ceramic tile floor. I broke my femur in 2 places. I now have 2 rods, 2 screws, and a metal plate. I'm glad ambulance personnel were fast and got me up😊
@suecave I too have had both knees removed. One recovery was a lot worse than the other and I’m constantly falling on the floor.I am always beat up with bruises and what not.I seem to have no strength in my arms and as you know your arms are very important when you fall.I appreciate your helpful words but this past Friday night when no one was home and I was fighting for over an hour and a half because I couldn’t get up.I appreciate your video but honestly I wish it could help me.Thanks very much.I hope it helps someone out there.😀
Brenda, I am so sorry you were down for 90 minutes plus. Other readers have posted ways they got up including a way I teach clients who have a stair case- that’s to scoot to the bottom step, then the second and sometimes the 3rd. Once your hips are above your feet a railing can be used to pull yourself up to standing. I’m sorry I don’t know your set up to offer suggestions in your home- perhaps you know a PT in your area who could offer ideas unique yo you and your home?
@@vitalityphysicaltherapynw7373. Your excellent vid is a start. People have hair raising stories. I must admit, I get mad….people go right back to what they were doing without making changes or even surveying what the heck happened, Survey the room, could a chair be flipped over to help the process of getting up. If not….buy one or modify. Dollar store pool mattresses. Inflate and hide under the couch or behind a screen. One on top of another will get you couch seat height. Slide cushion to the floor for a better grip using the furniture's wood frame. We're not doing enough. When I had hospice care for my parent…,I was shocked at how non existent the tools. Nurse and Aide were holding bedsheet with their fingers to move a patient. Handles. Have we heard of handles? Have a slick surface tarp with comfortable grips, This was hospice…..pathetic lack of equipment.
I train my adult Dobermans to assist me in getting up. I get on the floor, call one over put my arms around their neck and under their ribcage and command them to "help me up". This is also useful if I were to fall in the yard. Train your medium or larger dogs for this. It's easy. Mine got it right away.
I fell in my kitchen a couple of years ago. I army crawled into my living room and got my phone, called my daughter who lives about a mile from me. I said what are you doing, she said not much how about you? I said "I've fallen and i cant get up". After she laughed for a few seconds, she paused and said are you serious!? I said yes, she said we'll be right there! Her & her husband came over and rolled me onto a blanket and drug me through the house to the back door, and out onto my porch steps. As soon as I had my feet lower than my body, I stood right up. We have laughed about how funny I looked, but I am a lot more cautious now!
Perhaps it won't work for everybody, but for some it will. It would be good if people that might find this a useful technique would try it out prior to an actual fall. If they find that they can do it, they should rehearse it on occasion (when someone is nearby to help) so that they really have the technique down should they need it. It would be a great help to the elderly if their doctors could prescribe a few visits with a physical therapist who could try to find a technique that would work for them.
Thank you for your helpful video. My only problem is that there's no way I can ever put any weight on my knees, so I'll try to figure out how to get to the last step.
I fell outside my home. I had recent surgery on a shattered rotator cuff, + my forearm bones were hanging out. I have a metal shoulder and cemented forearm. I also have a fractured hip, on my right, and a broken big toe on my right. I crawled to the stair handbar, AND it took me 15 minutes to get myself into an upright pisition... I'm terrified of going outside alone. I have fallen in the house once, but that was easy to get up from. I reached for a chair as was up in about 5 minutes . Thank you for your demonstration . 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Artchem1- i’m glad you were able to get up. Do you have neighbors within a reasonable distance? If you are nervous about going outside, place plastic whistles in strategic places:hanging from the door knob, in a flower pot, at the base of your mailbox- you get the idea. Talk to your neighbors that you might use a whistle to alert them if you need assistance. Hope this helps.
Thank you so much, couldn't get up off of floor, hard wood floors, crawled in knees n knees hurt n screening at me then no energy to get up n gad husband help me up,. Just thanks for this video.
This is a great video. I hae had both knees replaced so I can't kneel on them. I've fallen several times. I'm 74. I didn manage to get up doing the kneel and into a chair by pulling two pillows from the chair to kneel on.
Re staircases. An elderley lady once advised me always to go downstairs backwards to avoid falling. Mind you she grew up in a 2 up 2 diwn house in an old industrial town in the UK. These were tiny houses built by the mill owners. As many as possible crammed into as small a space as possible. They had narroe steep staircases up the centre. They were dangerous.
Brilliant. My kitchen is on another level to my sitting room, only one step lower. Can you please give me some advice as to what to do should this happen to me. PS I have osteoarthritis in my hips and have had bi-lateral hip replacement. While my mobility is not too bad when I’m walking, if I was to fall I would struggle to get back up. Thanks a million.
Excellent video, my issue why I tune into these videos, I only have one knee I can use, I had 2 torn meniscus for some reason the repair of the tears that knee feels like I have a marble with thrones,I have tried to tolerate the pain using that knee impossible, can’t dust, get on my knees and reach far into a low shelf, that being said this video is excellent for those when they find themselves on the floor. My watch is my friend should I fall and need help.
Thank you. I ran out of my thyroid medication and kept putting off getting more. Stupid, and I know better. But I use a floor sofa, and one day I couldn't get up. My legs were so weak a lot of methods I found weren't usable.
I have bad knees (don't know wHat), 3 times I have found myself on the floor, had a chair roll out from under me once and the other 2 times my knees just gave out. Luckily I lived where there were stairs and I lied crawled to the stairs went to a sitting position and using the hand rails and stairs below me managed to stand. I have also used a chair to get up but I have no strength in my knees and using your example (before I saw your video) I managed to get up into the chair. The first time my knees gave out I ended up in the hospital and no problem could be found I was then transferred to a rehab facility for 5weeks for occupational and PT. FYI, if I sit down and have less than a 90° angle I have trouble getting up.
This is all very good advice. But - she obviously is a heathy younger person who can do these maneuvers relatively easily. When you're 75 or 80 I guarantee it's a LOT harder! Another video I saw says use books or other solid objects to build up under your rump to get your backside higher to lift yourself up to a chair.
I am seeing a lot of videos on HOW to get up off the floor--thank you However very few show exercises needed to strengthen parts of ones body needed to get up more easily. I am a 72 yr old woman trying to assist my body as it ages. I prefer to live alone and stay independent. So assist me to assist my body as it ages
I keep a whistle on an elastic headband tied low on my rollator. Not everyone has energy to yell or scream if your down for hours but a whistle can be heard easier and it's less energy spent. (Unless you have a broken rib causing a collapsed lung then dont use it).
Good advice. But I cannot kneel. My knees are damaged and arthritic and kneeling is so painful I cant even kneel on a bed or cushion for more than a few seconds. So when I fall, It's a big deal to find a way to get back up alone.
@Kathleen-Kelly-Simpson I have had many people relate the same struggle. Do you have a flight of stairs inside your home? I have taught people yo scoot yo the bottom step as I do on the floor, then move onto the first, second, third so that your feet are well below your knees and stand up with the use of the railing from the stairs. If you don’t have a flight of stairs we can be creative by using two thick cushions pulled from the couch, scooting then into a low foot rest, then onto the bare couch frame, then try standing from there. I hope this helps.
Oh and….never discuss these things without saying…..do not underestimate dehydration. Dehydration is synonymous. with….tailspin. We must be able to get up, do not wait. Get to work. Take pictures of each room in your house. What would I do? . What could I use? Learn what works before it happens….
Between two knee replacements & both shoulders needing replacement, getting up is a challenge. There's a technique where you use an arm to orovide force to roll onto a foot & eventually stand from there. Its hard to describe but I've used it twice, once in snow, with no assistance.
Since I had my knees replaced it hurts to be on my knees too. It does make getting up very difficult, so I avoid it, which only makes matters worse. Not sure if I would have the muscle strength needed since I don’t work the needed muscles anymore. Getting old does come with its challenges 🥴
I can not put any weight in either knees , i went th th steps back up and managed with great effort lifted up one one step then the next and then the thirg used th wall and step to bet up finally
Bea Simpson i agree, to a degree. I am not elderly. I am 44 but I. Have MS, and i experience falling a lot. - - and i am in panic when somebody well meaning is trying to help me up. - ... i want to do it myself. - but my knees are replaced and it hurts when i am directly on them. - so this wont work for me either, - but the part with the chair however - there are other techniques to use, involving a chair, that most can use. - but each are different. - often people with a problem see a physiotherapist or other therapist to help with how to manage and they can show techniques that works. - but she does say a lot of good things, the part with the phone. - .... it is accurate, I don’t always have it with me. (But i am pleased that in the health app you can make it so it can call for help easily) - but there should be more videos like this that can be of use to those who are not in good health. But still want to try and manage on their own.
I too had both knees replaced and thus find it excruciating to try to kneel. I managed to put a pillow under my knees and my daughter stood behind my feet to stop them from slipping. I was then able to pull myself up onto a chair.
I love baths ,and live alone ...I found it difficult one day ,to get out . I was a bit weaker that day so I filled the bath up with more water ...then I could push up more easily and turning over was easy .. ....from there I use my legs
I have a similar problem with my knees only mine are waiting to be replaced. I only have 1/2 my kneecaps left and no cartilage left. One knee is reconstructed with 2 3 inch screws and a bone graft. The other knee has the meniscus torn on the inside and the outside and piece of the kneecap itself has broken off. NO kneeling, NO squating and stairs are murder. Any help for us?
I fell hard once on my cement driveway on my palms and knees to protect my head. Cussing and getting po'd gave me focus and strength to check myself and slowly get up on my feet. Worked. Never trip on a hose in your driveway. Owww.
Turning over, when able to hands and knees position is the safest way ..... crawling to something stable to use as an aid. 35 years of service ... I suppose each profession has its favorites.
Get a dollar store inflatable, either a full length mattress, or a few doughnut shaped toys. Or....use rubberized shelf paper unrolled, with the advertising paper still on. Stash those things under the bed or couch. Stash gripper gloves to wear to give you confidence, Then the trick is to get to something super stable to which you’ve had installed a D-ring -in the wall stud for strength. Attach a webbed belt or chord with a good grip. Get the knees cushioned with the unrolled shelf paper or playtime inflatable, and pull yourself half way to an awaiting stable bench or ottoman. With one THR I could get down or up, though it wasn’t pretty. Now with two hips, it’s too hard. Have to devise a Plan B. As I always say......Nothing works. Nothing. But lots of things work a little.....
Linda Bevier-Vian I’m in the same boat as you are. I sure didn’t think I would be in this condition so early. I was very active and woke up with a Stroke. Paralysis on my left side. I work hard everyday to get better. I fell in my kitchen and broke my tail bone. I sure don’t want to do that again.
Im amazed at how many people have carpet and rugs in kitchens and bathrooms. Unhygenic apart from the trip hazard. I do have thick, quite heavy bath mats in the bathroom for after showering but they are then lifted and hung to dry after use.
It is so refreshing to see someone go out of their way to make a video to try and help others be more capable. These kind of people make the world a better place. Respect.
Tks

This woman is a great instructor. People can fall at any age, not just in elder years. Good information to have.

Same problem for me. Fell in the yard this week and my granddaughter had to call emergency to get me up. Knees don't work.
I agree, O had knee replacement on one knee. Can't kneel on that knee anymore even though I was told I could.

That's how I did it for years. I have knee replacements also. Now my shoulders are also bad so I had to adapt.

Doing this daily (getting down on the floor and up again) uses all the muscles and helps keep you more limber. It lowers your risk of early death.

One of the PT guys at work always said, “those things are called ‘throw rugs’ for a reason - they just throw you down.” Wonderful video!

This is a very good video. Thanks for posting, my mother had a serious fall at home alone.
GREAT JOB!!!!!
I'm going to be showing this to some people I'm working with very shortly. You give great directions.
My lower legs are weak so moving into the position of bent knee to raise up is almost impossible. I walk fine, I work in the yard, sit and get up to stand. Thank you Bob, this is my second week after the incidence and I am recovering. Thank you for your prayers.
Hope you are better now. That was serious

Thanks you so much for sharing your precious video with us🙏
I did fall numerous of time recently…thanks God that my husband’s near me to help and lifted me up🙏🙏🙏
Also, my cell phones don't last more than a few years.
I have been doing this since I was 18 months old.. I am 75 now and have perfected it
I have Guillian Barre and slipped and fell on my ceramic tile floor.
I must admit, I get mad….people go right back to what they were doing without making changes or even surveying what the heck happened,
Survey the room, could a chair be flipped over to help the process of getting up.
Have a slick surface tarp with comfortable grips,
This was hospice…..pathetic lack of equipment.
I train my adult Dobermans to assist me in getting up. I get on the floor, call one over put my arms around their neck and under their ribcage and command them to "help me up". This is also useful if I were to fall in the yard. Train your medium or larger dogs for this. It's easy. Mine got it right away.
Does that qualify them as service dogs?
@@stacey2470 you can get training and certification, yes.
My cat refuses to help! I'm on my own. Oh well!

Very intelligent dogs! My little doggie is super sweet, but dumb as a box of rocks, I exaggerate
I have had both hips replaced, and this is a very helpful...very helpful video in case a I fall .Thank you.
Any information could prove useful to someone. Thank you
This is the best method I've seen, so far. Thanks!
Thank you for your video, explaine in easy text and demonstrated so clearly.
Great video! Thank you for the tips.
😅
Thank you for such a clear explanation of what to do. Really good filming too!
Looks easy enough watching you do it but I have bad knees and you need those to help yourself get up!! Any other suggestions?
This is very helpful. Thank you so much ❤
This is so helpful. I can't thank you enough.👏👏👏♥️♥️♥️
This is an excellent video! Your instructions are so clear and precise.
It does not work if your hip/leg is broken 👆🏻😞
Practice getting up
Excellent video, my issue why I tune into these videos, I only have one knee I can use, I had 2 torn meniscus for some reason the repair of the tears that knee feels like I have a marble with thrones,I have tried to tolerate the pain using that knee impossible, can’t dust, get on my knees and reach far into a low shelf, that being said this video is excellent for those when they find themselves on the floor. My watch is my friend should I fall and need help.
Thanks for this. I will share with my sis who has Guillain-Barré syndrome.
Thank you. I ran out of my thyroid medication and kept putting off getting more. Stupid, and I know better. But I use a floor sofa, and one day I couldn't get up. My legs were so weak a lot of methods I found weren't usable.
This video actually makes me want to do these exercises!
People need to practice this. Especially seniors.
OK. I am going to deliberately fall several times tonight so I can practice falling without panicking. Hope I don't break a hip.
Thank you for this needed and informative video. I will use this method. I liked and subscribed.
Excellent video. Thank you
THANK YOU MYLADY. I M ONLY 90 YEARS,
I have bad knees (don't know wHat), 3 times I have found myself on the floor, had a chair roll out from under me once and the other 2 times my knees just gave out.
I am seeing a lot of videos on HOW to get up off the floor--thank you
However very few show exercises needed to strengthen parts of ones body needed to get up more easily.
This is a ver practical video ❤I am an xphysio so I appreciate your simple instructions
Excellent advice, thank you.
Awesome info ma’am thank you
Great video. My problem is having had both knees replaced,it’s very painful to kneel on them.
Between two knee replacements & both shoulders needing replacement, getting up is a challenge. There's a technique where you use an arm to orovide force to roll onto a foot & eventually stand from there. Its hard to describe but I've used it twice, once in snow, with no assistance.
Lovely video Thank you very much. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Well done - thank you
Great video and instructions!
When I did fall it was impossible to get on my knees the pressure(pain) was too much.It took my husband and myself 10 min. to get me up.
Since I had my knees replaced it hurts to be on my knees too. It does make getting up very difficult, so I avoid it, which only makes matters worse. Not sure if I would have the muscle strength needed since I don’t work the needed muscles anymore. Getting old does come with its challenges 🥴
Thank you for sharing. But got the elderly who have very weak painful knees and wrists it won't help. Is there any other way ?
Thanks will pass to others❤
Thank u for All of your helpful help!
Thanks for making this video!
I can not put any weight in either knees , i went th th steps back up and managed with great effort lifted up one one step then the next and then the thirg used th wall and step to bet up finally
I don't have the arm strength to pull myself up, any other suggestions? This video would not help the elderly!
According to your video, most people break bones. Do you offer help to them on how you get up?
🎉❤😊thank you so much..!!
Would it be possible to add big print for spanish subtitles ? I could then share to many friends my age..
What do you suggest when one has had both knees replaced and can’t accept the pain of resting on their knees?
Thx
Any pillows nearby that you can kneel on, so it’s not as painful as kneeling directly on the floor?

I love baths ,and live alone ...I found it difficult one day ,to get out . I was a bit weaker that day so I filled the bath up with more water ...then I could push up more easily and turning over was easy .. ....from there I use my legs
Thank you for this video.
Scooting forward and backwards is harder than just getting up for me.
How to get up off the floor or out of tub after knee replacements and deminished upper body dy strength
To land safely on the floor you need to be pissed …. Being pissed also helps to get up .😂😂😂 😊
Oh...I can do the po part beginning to end..and the longer I am down the more po'd I get!!
You are talking from experience of course. 😂😂😂😂😂
I fell hard once on my cement driveway on my palms and knees to protect my head. Cussing and getting po'd gave me focus and strength to check myself and slowly get up on my feet. Worked. Never trip on a hose in your driveway.
Owww.
I used 2 pillows on top of each other to give me a bit of height then pulled myself up with the help of the sofa. One knee recently replaced.
Way to go!!!
Excellent and sensible thank you.
It is hard to get up of the floor if your elderly and over weight good video
Turning over, when able to hands and knees position is the safest way ..... crawling to something stable to use as an aid. 35 years of service ... I suppose each profession has its favorites.
But how do you get up from the floor if you have really, really bad knees and can't use them to kneel on? Is there a way?
I was thinking the same. If we can't put any pressure on the knees, we're really in trouble.
Get a dollar store inflatable, either a full length mattress, or a few doughnut shaped toys. Or....use rubberized shelf paper unrolled, with the advertising paper still on. Stash those things under the bed or couch. Stash gripper gloves to wear to give you confidence,
Then the trick is to get to something super stable to which you’ve had installed a D-ring -in the wall stud for strength.
What do you have for a stroke surviver???I have no use of my left arm/hand; and very little use of my left leg/foot....
So what if you carnt kneel on your knees ?
Im amazed at how many people have carpet and rugs in kitchens and bathrooms. Unhygenic apart from the trip hazard. I do have thick, quite heavy bath mats in the bathroom for after showering but they are then lifted and hung to dry after use.
I usually grab hold of a case of whisky nearby to get off the floor
I really need this
