I've watched this movie so many times I've lost count. I've finally made it to twice a day. I've been watching since at least July. There are some changes from the book, which I read many years ago. Those changes do change the story line a bit. In the book Mr Darcy shares his true thought on Elizabeth early on with his close friends. In this movie, it's clear he's interested when he sees her in the first ballroom scene, when he tells Mr Bingley, she's not handsome enough. Only if you've read the book first would you see that. However, the manner in which Macfadyen played this character his interest and love for Elizabeth became clear, very quickly. Macfadyen's physical presentation of his feelings was clear. And Keira's physical presentation of Elizabeth not realizing she was wrong about Mr Darcy's dignity and intentions, until the rain incident and the letter, was played brilliantly. Double ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ from me. Can't stop watching this movie
I’ve watched a couple of the Mr. Darcy’s internal thought videos and for this scene his thoughts were ‘Why am I here?’ sees Elizabeth ‘Oh that’s why’ lol
"One of these days, Lizzy, someone will catch your eye, and then you'll have to watch your tongue." The irony of Lizzy ending up with someone who liked how sharp-tongued she can be lol
One of the things I like about this film is the clever use of lighting. Scores of people are in the light, happy, dancing, Jane Bennett is particularly well lit, and at the end of the room, Darcy is brooding in the shade, definitely not happy. I contrast this with the recent movie Dune where practically every scene is shot in the dark, showing a paucity of imagination by the director Villeneuve. The lighting throughout this entire film is well matched to the mood, the dialogue and the action. Lady Misery de Bourg is usually in the dark ( but you can see Judy Dench's face clearly) whereas in Dune frequently you can't see any faces at all! This movie has grown on me.
@@trhansen3244 Yes, it is quite shocking to see men dancing with feminine women. How refreshing, and not a trans, or lesbian in sight!!! It's the right thing to do. No wonder the film is so popular 🤗🤗🤗🤗 don't think people would like your version btw, only a minority. ........😉
I have read the book multiple times and I also like the 2005 version more. Even though some people say his character steers away from the book, but Matthew does justice to it. The 1995 version of mr Darcy is too Robot like in my opinion, not natural. Even in the book Darcy does not have one tone of voice or expression throughout, he's described to show expressions very well.
For anyone who’s only familiar with Matthew as Tom in Succession, is certainly shocked by the fact that he played Mr. Darcy way before the show. But for me it was the opposite and I think that realization is worse lol. But overall, one thing is clear - Matthew is a brilliant actor.
one small detail i never noticed before is when mr darcy is introduced, you can see the immediate and very painful contrast between the impression he creates on mrs bennet vs the impression bingley creates on her. the moment mr darcy fails to give a beaming self-introduction like mr bingley and just stands there, you can see mrs bennet's thought process plain on her face. her immediate dislike of mr darcy provides so much comedy and irony throughout the whole novel
Ive Watched it so many times I can almost read their lines very batem. EMMA THOMPSON, when she rewrote the script for the movie OUTDID herself. What a magnificent job she did. Kuddos to her.

How every woman longs to be loved in such a way! This will sound crazy to say this but my Mr. Darcy, who at first I rejected, was long suffering, and He won me over once the "bad rap" I had of Him was as I learned, quite wrong. And this Mr. Darcy wooed me to Himself, and He desires to do the same for every person seeking truth and love. It is Jesus Christ--- who at first I made fun of, but later I learned He is perfect patience, perfect love, perfect truth, light, and justice. He is also very wealthy, being the Son of God, the Prince of Peace, the Mighty God, the Wonderful Counselor. If women only knew Him, by leaving their pride and prejudice, they would love Him in return. He is coming soon to take those who have received Him, to deliver us from the wrath and judgment to come as prophesied in Revelation. Consider Jesus then, who is the only true God and Savior, proving it when He chose to die so as to shed His perfect blood as a sacrifice so we could have our sins forgiven, for without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness. I finally was won over and received Jesus into my heart and life and so there is reserved for me and all those who have done such as I, a crown of righteousness and eternal life as His Bride at His side to be in His awesome Kingdom forever. May you realize this world is in the shadows of what is to come and our enemy tries to keep us in this darkness so we do not see Jesus as the true light of the world. Praise God that we can choose this light of life and be delighted in His loving kindness forever and ever. God bless you with faith in believing in the Gospel message. May more women see Jesus Christ as their Mr. Darcy, Amen!
Her character is like that. In the book she's described as the most plain one among the Bennett sisters, she doesn't socialize much and only reads books and is awkward.
I just wished they made this into a 3hr film. I felt like some parts needed to be shown for some of the character's actions to make sense. But it's admirable how that impeccable chemistry bet Lizzie and Darcy was built even when some parts were left out.
It would have been less painful for Mr Darcy if he created one of the private moments and apologized to Lizzy. Then he could have spent his time showing her his true softer side, causing her to fall in love with him. But that would have been a boring book?😊

It’s mostly just that she says almost the same thing he said earlier. He didn’t know she was listening at the time he said that she was “perfectly tolerable” (not very pretty, just ok, a 5/10). Saying that phrase back to him shows him that she heard what he said and didn’t approve, but in a subtle way. Even though he was probably quite embarrassed, her mother and Jane wouldn’t have understood, so she wasn’t trying to shame him in front of other people or be cruel, she just teased him. Most people Darcy meets just try to flatter him or agree with everything he says. Elizabeth didn’t do that: she challenged him and called him out on being rude, but without being impolite herself.
The way she just walks away like a superhero not looking at an explosion fr.

The aloofness of mr. Darcy was to emphasize the class distinction in that era, and their distaste for one another which adds drama to the story
