And of course, there is always the book, “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen, which will be the original & true version of the story in the author’s words.
Thanks for such a clever and beautiful video. I am obsessed with this film. Matthew Macfadyen is perfection as Darcy and has created the most romantic character in film, IMHO. With his eyes and his voice (and his awkward fiddling fingers throughout the film) he portrays an aching vulnerability that even the magnificent Colin Firth could not muster. And he dances so elegantly, as well.
Darcy in the book is NOT an introvert. He is just so rich and high status that he doesn’t know how to socialize. He’s never had to be nice and polite because everyone kisses his ass. But he’s also loyal and generous to the people he’s close to.
I never read the book so can I ask, if he was generous and good but not nice and not an introvert, he was like a good person but rude? A good, extrovert but rude person? Or like nice to friends but rude to strangers? And he was rude because he thought he was superior or because he didn't know how to behave with strangers? If its the last, I think that counts as kind of an introvert. Sorry for the rant Im just confused
“I certainly have not the talent which some people possess,” said Darcy, “of conversing easily with those I have never seen before. I cannot catch their tone of conversation, or appear interested in their concerns, as I often see done.” Quote as it was in the book. A case could be made that he was a bit of an introvert, but this film leaned pretty heavily into that idea.
@@fandelmazapan the concept of introvert and extrovert didn’t exist in the early 19th century. So it’s hard to say how Jane Austen would have thought about this. People were much more concerned with whether or not someone behaved in the correct manner according to their station. So the very wealthy elites like Darcy and Lady Catherine were allowed to be rude because they were so far superior to everyone else. For example Mr. Collins thinks Lady Catherine is wonderful because she “condescends” to be concerned about him. Mr. Darcy is used to people thinking of him this way. The community the Bennetts live in is actually quite strange in that they don’t care for Darcy’s manners. But I don’t think they’re used to having someone of Darcy’s station around. The local manor of Netherfield has been empty for a while and gets rented out. So the local lord is absent or non existent. Darcy is a good person but would be considered rude by our standards but at the time his behavior was correct for his station. The Bennetts and the other locals just don’t seem to like him because he won’t dance with any of the ladies which means he’s not open to marrying any of them. This is the cardinal sin because the opening line of the book states “a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife”.
This is a great edit. This is exactly how I have always read Mr. Darcy’s character. He was not prideful, he was simply an introvert. Elizabeth was raised in a big and busy household, she was very used to being surrounded by many other people. Mr. Darcy only had his much younger sister. Their backgrounds also leads to personality traits.
On my last read-through of the book I also noticed this about his background: Mr. Darcy's mother was the sister of Lady Catherine. Lady Catherine is constantly talkative and shares everything in her mind, to the point of being completely overbearing. I think that could indicate that either Lady Catherine became that way because her sister would not talk, or her sister grew more shy (and complacent in being so) because she knew Lady Catherine would always do the talking for her. In either case, it seems quite likely that Darcy's mother wasn't nearly so friendly or outgoing as his father (Darcy specifically refers to his father as "benevolent and amiable"), and that's where he got some of his introverted tendencies.
@@Deejaay83urj38 Yes, he is arrogant, especially when he believes he has enough judgment to validate an assumption about the quality or lack of Elizabeth's sister's love

The how the film was made book they brought out after it did so well was really cool to read too.
Yeah Bridget Jones Diary I can identify with minus her sluttiness. I am a klutz like her character. I once fell on top of a guy roller skating. Then in my 30s I sat in a guy's lap as I back up and put my butt down. Not realizing he was there. I had a puzzling thought what did I just sit on and felt a body and jumped right up. Oh I was embarrassed and apologized then a week later on I tripped and fell on top of the guy's lap. The first guy was cute and the second guy was not so much. But maybe falling into men's laps is a new way to get a date? Just make sure he's not married?

There has to be a Mr, Darcy out there for me as well. I am 40 and have no money and no prospects...
The thing is, there might be one in your area, right now.
Keep in mind that Darcy would have been an unpleasant character to a lot of women if the movie didn't give him a chance to shine.
Don't be too quick to judge men. Some of them are not what you might suspect. That's my advice as a quiet guy who loves romance
What a fantasticl edit of my very favorite version of Jane Austen's beautiful work. This was truly HILARIOUS! Thank you so much - I'm now a subscriber. God bless! :)
Sigh…
This has bewitched me body and soul and makes me perfectly, completely incandescently happy…
Beautiful job!!!
That's why this is my favourite Darcy. Totally relatable.
13:22 to 14:22 absolutely killed me!! It kept getting funnier and somehow more relatable the longer it went on. 😂
The memes and text are gold 😂 as a fellow introvert I can relate to him, which probably means I’ll never get my own Mr. Darcy.
My favorite video about Matthew’s magical Mr. Darcy. ❤
fine... i'll rewatch pride and prejudice HAHAHAH
The piano scene edit...Im in piecessss
That mother talks WAAYYYYYY too much..
Vera is cool 😂❤
Even when she has flutterings and spasms all over her. 😂
But I love when she schools Elizabeth- "You try having 5 daughters that you need to marry off or they'll all be destitute..."
This is the best thing ever. Im grateful to stumble upon this.
This edit is everything I laughed cried and cheered
I can’t believe how much I love pride and prejudice
Love the edits to my favorite parts of my favorite adaptation of this movie! Bravo!
STUNNING editing! Awww THESE TWO - the Chemistry - the tension ..... and HE IS TOTALLY GORGEOUS! AWWW my Heart
Everyone that loves this and hasn’t seen the BBC version with Colin firth from the 90s NEEDS TO! He’s the definitive Darcy in my eyes, I’m jealous of anyone that gets to watch this for the first time!!
I love Collin Firth but can't bring myself to watch his version because I love this one so much❤
lol I felt the same and watched the Keira knightly version with detached interest. Still doesnt stack up to the bbc one for me! Colin Firth’s Darcy is less emotional and more uptight, but my God the look he gave Lizzy when she played piano with his sister was SO romantic. The how the film was made book they brought out after it did so well was really cool to read too.
I love both versions
1000% facts. It’s my goto
Sooo.glad I came across this… of course I just watched the entire movie on my phone just yesterday.!!I said let me take a gander at this…LOVE THIS TAKE..so funny!! I almost wet myself laughing so hard .. This is GENIUS.. thank you!
The most delightful, romantic movie ever.
You made my day. Thank you for the video.
This was so great! I love the extra quotations and that little guy's eyes going back and forth between Darcy and Elizabeth. LOLOLOL! GREAT FUN! THANK YOU! p.s. And, YES, that smile of Darcy's would melt a steel vault, I bet...Lol...
Per me uno dei più bei film che abbia mai visto, attori eccellenti e atmosfere magiche....lo adoro e non mi stanco mai di rivederlo ❤
Literally i love the captions on the proposal scene so much. I'm decorating my first classroom and i want to print them out and stick them in my teacher corner 😂 "ur family is lowkey trash" i mean c'mon! Unfortunately I'm not an English teacher where we would even do Austen but that wouldn't have to stop me 😂
Brilliant. We do love him, don't we!
The Baloon Boy "Hi!" from FNAF totally caught me off guard just as I was taking a sip of coffee. 😂
As someone who's a Darcy stan, I can't imagine what his pitch would have been to Bingley had Elizabeth accepted his prior proposal.
Remember that family I went out of my way to discourage your alliance with ? yeah yeah, ima marry their daughter. Oh not the one you were hopelessly in love with, sheesh I could never, her younger sister however...Guess what ?
She finally handsome enough to tempt me now *wink wink*
Had a bad day😒
then I saw this 😂❤🎉
Thank you 🙏🤗
Hys-ter-a-cal ! Whoever edited this I laughed, I cried, I danced in the aisle it was so funny ! thanks for giving me a laugh !!
Enjoyed very much
The commentor’s thoughts echo mine. I have watched this movie many times and never tire of its freshness. That Jane Austen understood relationships much as we do today is a reminder that we humans didn’t just start having meaningful interactions…it’s been going on for eons.
I am just 2 minutes in, and I can’t stop laughing!!! 😂😂 I love this! I loved how you described perfectly my feelings in minutes 2:41 😂… I recently watched this movie and has become my favorite movie ❤
Girrrrrrrrrrrlllllllll!!!!!! At 2:33, that's EXACTLY what that look was! So spot on!!! I love you for that!
13:13 Mr Darcy ~calmly~ opens the door
Reading the introvert commentary helps me to understand the movie. There were some body language n signals i didnt catch when i saw the movie. You have to really pay attention!
How great is the editing of this movie! I really enjoyed watching this❤❤❤

I absolutely LOVE the way you put this together. I laughed and almost cried at the same time! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It kind of does explain his odd behavior.
This is brilliant, dazzling wit.
Who is this clever artist, creating such awesomeness?
Love love LOVE. Thank you!!!
Too good. Best video ever.
Introvert here, this was well presented...excellent. 😘
This is fantastic. Had me laughing so hard!
i just feel like he's going "fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck" in his head like...most of the time
I laughed and I never laugh at P&P! Thank you for finding the humor in this glorious love story. Jane herself may have chuckled.

Great video - you included all the best bits from this perfect movie I've re-watched too many times to count. Your editing made me giggle too. This fellow introvert appreciates your effort!
