I needed a clear and detailed video of a John Deere X350 to help me get all the wires hooked up correctly as I didn’t make a video of my “no start” issue during disassembly. It was the solenoid. Thanks a bunch!
I’m glad it was helpful and thank you for the kind comment. I’m glad you were able to figure everything out and your back up and going! Thank you for sharing.

Hey Brad, have you run into the bad Ecm? Caused by trying to jump start the Tractor. Then it fries the Unit. Which also causes a no start issue. I believe John Deere, has since updated the faulty Modules.
What I have come across is John Deere had faulty ECMs on a few models from the factory. “Poor quality”. They did get it straightened out. I had to replaced many that failed. All just failed “poor quality “ but I did not come across any failures due to jump starting.
Toro time saver 24.5 HP, battery has full power. When I turn the key there is a fast chattering/clicking and it does not engage the motor to start it. Any ideas?
It could be loose or corroded battery terminals. Clean and tighten as needed. You may think your battery is fully charged but it’s not. Try using a jumper pack if you have one. Your starter solenoid may be bad. You may have a bad starter. Engine may be seized. Impossible to diagnose without seeing the machine.
This is the 5th year I have serviced this machine. Almost 300 hrs. I clean all machines before working on them. It was in bad shape sitting under the customer’s deck with a tarp over it when I picked it up. This is why I think the solenoid failed. Moisture.
When I connect the tester to the post that leads to the starter, it still lights up but very dim, not as bright as when I connect to the other areas. Could this still indicate that the solenoid is the problem?
I cannot diagnose your machine without seeing it but If you’re getting a bright test light on the battery side of the starter solenoid and when you turn the key to crank and you’re getting a dim light, you either have a bad solenoid or a bad starter or possible a bad connection. Make sure your battery is in good condition and battery terminals are clean and tight before testing anything.

Brad, nice video on how to diagnose a starter solenoid. I learned a lot. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.

I have a l130 and it does not have that solenoid. Should I get 12v at the small wire next to the battery cable on starter
Hi Brian, don’t change what you have. Your machine is correct the way it is. Some solenoids set ups are different then others.

This machine is very clean. How old is that solenoid?

I guess it's pretty important that all the wires get put exactly back the way they came off.
