Amazing footage. I've seen more formal reports on this day when first broadcast but this has a fascinating raw quality. The very end of the 80's, Kylie on the cusp of a game changing new phase of her career, the Stock Aitken Waterman phenomenon towards the end of its imperial phase
Back in a time without mobile phones, no Internet, people spoke face to face, everyone looked happy, people could afford to heat their homes. It was a fantastic time to be alive and I have food memories ✨️
This song means a lot to those of us who were the right age to be big pop fans at the time. I was a massive Brosette who also loved the music of SAW and Jimmy Somerville etc. It was an Avengers Assemble moment for readers of Smash Hits magazine.
I did not know Cathy Dennis was in it until today. It's a pity that she did not sing lead because she has wonderful vocals. Maybe she was not huge enough then to be featured alongside Kylie and Jason.
I have the c.d. single and on the back there are all the names of the artists who sang on it. I also hoped Cathy Dennis had a lead vocal part. I love her voice. And I have her c.d.'s.
This is such a beautiful film showing the talent and care of these artists at this point in time with the added input and genius of Mike Stock,Matt Aitken and Pete Waterman and extra musical help of Chris Rea, Luke Goss and mixed by Phil Harding with the blessing of Bob Geldof.
Can I ask a question as to why Sir Bob Geldof was there? It’s recently been reported that this was an unofficial version yet there he is. It’s just that it’s not full of his mates and the old musical snobbery comes back. It’s the best version!
A lot of people hated Stock Aitken Waterman productions, but their songs are great and very good produced. Bob Geldof gave permission to this record. He was behind it. A lot of artists did not wanted to know that.
This was exactly a year after their performance of especially for you:))))) I love these Kylie and Jason Christmas vids of 1988 at this time of the year…:))))) it must have been hard for them (or rather Jason) to be together though, the wounds were still fresh for Jason💔💔💔 you can see it when he’s with Kylie

God bless Bob Geldof and Midge Ure. I know the woke people won't like this but who cares! These men and their fellow artists did a wonderful thing back in the day to bring awareness of starvation on the African continent. Maybe the words weren't right (according to the woke brigade) but they were right at the time. Maybe the woke brigade should take a look at the images we all saw back then. I don't think they could handle it, but Bob and his fellow artists surely did!! God bless them all for their contribution to this awful and CONTINUING famine in the continent of Africa. 🙏❤ We should thank Michael Buerk for his first reporting of this terrible awful tragedy 😠

Because it was one of million charity song and also the Stock Aitken and damn Waterman dominated there.
