Hey Xian, I believe it would. Tofu litter makes softer clumps, so you might want to set a longer cycle timer, but otherwise, yes-I think it would work.
I just got it. To be honest i thought about for a while because it is expensive. I have two kittens they are a little over 12 weeks and they like it and learned to use it fast. The odor is controlled and i am a nurse and work long shifts so when i have someone sitting for them is perfect. So far i love it.
That calm and measured voice nearly put me to sleep; a real gift you have. :) It helped calm me down after I found out my wife spent 600. on something our cat will poop in.
🤣🤣🤣 I have 4 cats & cannot bring myself to spend that much money on a litter box. We have 4 cats & 2 extra large steel litter boxes that cost $60 each. Cleaning the litter boxes have always been a chore for the kids to teach them to take care of their pets.
Got this litterbox as a gift for my grandfather who is 82 years old and owns two cats. He couldn't be more ecstatic about not having to clean up after them anymore. I really wish there was something to make replacing the bags easier but this is as good as it gets any every other respect. He says that everyone likes to comment on his "cat bidet," when they come over. It's certainly attracted a lot of attention but all for good reason! If there's any new models that come out in the future I might see about getting one myself.
One of our 3 cats started to become very fussy about his litter boxes. He wanted them clean everytime, otherwise he was doing his business next to the litter box. We invested in the litter robot about 4 months ago. So far the experience has been great, all three cats started using the litter robot on day 1.. Haven't had an issue with our fussy cat (He is a 20lb male). The machine is surprisingly loud when it's rotating, but the cycle only takes about two mins to complete. If you get the connect model, the app for both iOS and Android are very hit and miss. The app will let you know when it is time to empty, there is an option to set sleep mode times (doesn't work all the time though). No odor issues whatsoever, we haven't had to change the carbon filter yet. It's very efficient with litter usage, one bag of litter got us through 2 months. The cats are super fascinated by the cleaning cycle, they all come and sit in front of it to watch the cycle.
So I have three cats too and I'm looking for a good litter tho this is not in my budget but maybe later I had a question so like what if One of ur cat went in the litter and the cycle started and what if the other cat wants to go at the same time but the cycle is happening
@@Bruh-ss7dj Hey, they offer financing. If a cat jumps into the robot during a cycle, the cycle immediately stops. My cats only did that once and learned from it immediately.
@@Bruh-ss7dj I got mine second hand (used about 6 - 8 months) even though it was still expensive, but I saved on shipping and taxes. I paid about CAD500, otherwise with shipping it's closer to CAD700-900. I still think it's worth it esp if you have more than one cats.
Mallory, I have to say that your reviews are objectively some of the best from anyone for any product I have ever seen. I'm probably going to talk my wife into getting the non-WIFI version of the LR3.
I just got my litter robot last week. It's very well designed and built, and thankfully my cats adjusted to it seamlessly. However, they advertise that you only have to empty it every 7-10 days (I have 2 cats, so I assumed I'd be emptying it roughly every 4 days), but so far I have had to empty it every other day. It still beats scooping, but unfortunately isn't saving me as much time as I had expected. For $500, I wish they had made the waste drawer larger :(
I agree. We’ve used only Litter Robots since the original model came out approximately 20 years ago and we’ve had all of the Litter Robot models. All of our cats are strictly indoors. We’ve had as many as 6 at a time. This drawer is smaller than all the others and it is disappointing. I’ll always use them anyway, but I don’t understand their reasoning on this. One thing I do to overcome this is keeping nitrile or plastic disposable gloves by the Robot. I open the drawer and rearrange the clumps to make more useable room it. I sprinkle a carpet freshener powder or baking soda on the clumps. It takes no more than 2 minutes and I get extra days out of it. I know this isn’t the solution for everyone but it works for me.
I have had my little robot connect for about 6 weeks now and I absolutely love it! Best investment I ever made. I have two cats, a 7 year old that is 18lb and a 2 year old that is 6 lb. The younger one took to the box right away. The older one took a couple of weeks but now they both use it regularly. I find that I empty the tray about once every 5 days. The Wi-Fi feature is well worth the extra cost. I am disabled so not having to check it everyday is the best part. I don't even need to think about it until it tells me it's ready to be emptied.
All three of my cats use the litter robot and when paired with a good clumping clay litter I find it extremely worth it! One of my cats is skittish and it only took a few days to adjust, he still goes to watch it clean itself whenever he hears it but he's okay with it :)
I have 7 cats and 2 litter robots, 2 and 3 and they work great. I got my first one 8 years ago. If you have multiple cats, the litter robot helps keep your cats from stepping onto the others poop and reduces the risk of FIP.
I’ve had the litter robot for almost a year, my cats love it and so do we. It’s been the best cat related product we have ever bought. We use a scoop to add litter to the globe, and we solved the litter being scattered all over the floor by adding the steps that you can also get from litter robot. In the beginning we did not like it as much but as we got to know how to work with it the more we liked it. Give it time, and hopefully you’ll also love it
We're adopting 3 kittens this Friday. I have been watching your videos and my husband and I will be getting this (despite the price 😭). In any case, thank you for being here and doing what you're doing (it matters)💕
I have purchased the Cat Genie for only $419 aud comes with sanutiser and pellets. This system is the best!! The world's first and only cat flushing dunny!! Hooks up to water.. Washes pellets until faeces and urine are totally flushable.. It then discharges the matter and returns to dry and sanitise the pellets! I'm sold.. No more buying litter.. No odor.. No disposal of clumps and waste!! I'm totally impressed!! All my cats use it and I have 7!! They all use the cat genie as the pellets are always clean dry and no odor!!! I highly recommend!!! ♥️ ♥️ ♥️ ♥️
We’ve had ours since December of 2019. For a single, small cat household it would probably work but we have 2 cats. One boy who basically stands while peeing and our girl has long hair. Our boy refuses to use it now but when we first got it he did attempt to use it a few times. He point his rear end at the entrance/exit and would pee all over the stairs that you can attach to the robot. Our girl actually squats really low when she pees so often she gets some of the pee clump attached to her fur or steps in it due to not really having much room. I think it’s perfect for just cats on the smaller side with short hair or no hair. We still let our girl use it but keep a Breeze Litter box due to our boys asthma. The one good thing about the litter robot is while it turns it creates zero dust compared to scooping out of a box.
I ordered one today after watching a commercial. Yes the price is high but I feel better watching your review. I’m excited to get it soon. My dog keeps sneaking in the current litter box when we are not home. I’m hoping this helps keeping the dog out.
I'm really on the fence and I don't even have my cat yet LOL, I just saw a commercial for this and decided to check it out. I want to be prepared because I'm very much a person who doesn't want to mess with poop. I thank you for taking your time to make this video. While watching this, an ad came up about another robotic, self cleaning litter box that's over $300 cheaper. It doesn't have the cover and was definitely way easier to clean, so I'm undecided. After seeing the video, I decided on the other one, but then the comments from other users is making me think harder. Either way this video was so informative.
I purchased the scoop-free petsafe self-cleaning litter box with wifi about 3 months ago... I've had problems with it... the rake keeps getting stuck... after just 3 or 4 days it stinks from urine... I've tried several different types of litter hoping it would help but it hasn't... a couple of days ago it just stopped working, no power at all... so I found this one, while it is a lot more expensive I'm hoping it will work better... I ordered and its coming in the mail, I can't wait... by the way it cost close to $600, not $500... I'm not complaining I love your video's! They are very informative! I'll try to remember to post after I get it to let you know how I like it, I really think I will!
Little suggestion.. when you empty the litter out of the box, try flipping it so it’s horizontal with the hole to pour out the cat litter on the top right corner, then slowly tip the end without the hole up giving you much more control with where the litter goes - great review!! 🥰
Your review is excellent! It looks like you covered every possible issue, great job In fact, it is so good I’ve subscribed and will check out your other reviews. Thanks for work. FYI, our cats are a bit large so I’m going to pass on this. The price is pretty high, another reason I’m passing...
Great review. I went and got the large dog food bin that has rollers and snapping lids, I keep litter there with a cup and scoop for litter refill. Much easier than lifting heavy boxes or bags and less awkward. A cheap 5 gallon lowes or home depot bucket with lid will work too. I just prefer the bigger bin as I have 6 cats. I use lowes bucket to put dirty litter bags in and contain odor with a lid. This way I only actually leave my litter box area once a week to put old icky litter in a bag from the bucket. I'm currently working on my cat litter mixture I feel works best on this machine. Dust is a big deal with all things mechanical. But I'm a firm believer in the most healthy things for my babies. Thanks for your review. And all you do here in TH-cam for us cat loving families! Smiles and blessings...
Very thorough review ! Thank you ! I’ve been considering this product for a few months now. I’m ready to purchase this week. I have 2 cats. My girl Tygris is 8lbs and my boy Xavier is 18lbs. I hope they will take to using it or else I will be utilizing the 90 day money back guarantee! Which is an exceptional option and overall reason Why I feel comfortable giving it a try!
I'm fortunate. My cat uses the dog door and her litter box is on the deck. I have the 3-part with a built in sifter, so cleaning the litter box is super easy. I can't see myself spending $500 for this. Especially after your review. Thanks so much.
The smart home function is interesting, if i can start playing Mozart on the Bluetooth speakers once the cat is detected, and put some mood lighting on it, perhaps automatically open a can of tuna once they're finished...
I have had liter robots since 2016. I had two because I need one on each end of a long house. It’s quite a trek for elderly cats from the bed room to the kitchen. They develop hiccups as they get older. But I have been able to fix all of them by watching how to vids on TH-cam.
Great review well thought out good points. I bought one the other day for my birthday I’m excited and waiting for it to show up at my door. I hate dealing with litter but I love my fur baby’s. You didn’t mention it much but I am glad too see I can use a regular trash bag for collection. Thanks for the video. I wish you and the little ones well!
I just ordered one and hoping it is the solution for the smelly poops🙌🏼 I appreciate how much time you took to test all of these items!! I have 2 slightly chunky kitties but we currently have two breeze systems and they prefer the enclosed one to the bigger open one. Your patience for testing out different litters is also amazing because I would’ve hated it lol so thank you!
Excellent review. Particularly helpful was taking the time to show the cleaning of the machine. I don’t have a cat but am curious about advances in products like this.
I have the Litter Robot III. I just love it and my big boy cat has no problem with it. I didn’t get the wi-fi feature. Even though that’s a lot of money, my house doesn’t smell like cat poop. I just poor litter into a plastic cup and poor it in and level it out with a scoop. My cat is 13lbs and he doesn’t seem to have a problem. I love it. Thanks for the review. 🦋
I just bought our third litter robot. We have 5 cats. We have had the litter robot 2 for 7 years now and a 3 for 4 years. I just retired the 2 and ordered another 3. If you have more than 3 cats this is the only way to go. I cannot imagine living without them. I would be scooping all day. Are they perfect? no. This review was very accurate. Cleaning is annoying filling can be a pain however I use the 20 pound plastic bins and that works great and the sensors are finicky. So much so that I removed the cat sensor and just have it hooked up to a smart switch that cycles the box every hour. This works very well and removed that annoyance. Yes it is extremely expensive but how much is your time with to you?
Me and my husband are cat people... and after 6 years and 3 cats this 500$ will be so WORTH it. Everytime I scoop our 2 boxes I imagine how magical this one would be 🤣
I had the same issue with one of my cats not wanting to use the robot. My fix was, use Dr. Elseys cat attract. Use a 40lb bag over time, once completed, you should be able to transition to use the litter of your choice. Hope that helps
We have the III with wifi. IMO, it's great if you have a cat that demands a clean box at all times. By demands I mean that if it's not to his standards, he will just find a nice clean rug instead. We have one of those. It's also great if you hate scooping litter, which is almost everyone. Where it fails is if you have a cat that is terrified of it and won't use it. Be sure to follow the tips that come with the litter robot to gradually acclimate them to it or you will find yourself with a $500 hunk of plastic that the cat hates more than the vacuum! We haven't had any sensor issues with ours that I'm aware of.
I'm hesitant about buying this as my cat hates the doorbell, the washing machine, the vacuum, etc. Even though this sounds like a product I would love, I'm not sure she would.
@@amym2sf took a verrrrry long time for one of my cats to ever use it. Like 6 months long. He was terrified of it. Even now he still gives it weird looks when it's cleaning but he does use it without a problem. Keep your old ones around in the interim.
I still cannot believe I got this box for FREE! I just adopted a senior special needs cat and the previous owner had left the shelter with the litter robot plus a fancy automatic feeder. The adoption fee was only $15 because of his age (11), which is crazy because he’s such a sweet boy! I have not set the robot up yet because he is still getting adjusted in the guest bedroom before I introduce him to my other cat and the rest of the house, but I know he was using it in his last home just fine.
I’m not a cat person. I like cats but didn’t really wanna own one. my cat I found in a dumpster & just couldn’t let her go. I HATE the litter box. I double mask & glove up (even before Covid). I’m debating getting this but the price is a little out of range 😩 should I just do it?
@@NoNameanymore10 There's also that 90 day money back guarantee. So you can try it to see if you like it and see if it's worth it to you. If you don't like it, return it and get your money back. 😊
I did it....just ordered one. Thank you for you review. I have to admit, I did watch several more reviews, as well. My stepson has one also & loves it! Thanks again, girl!
Best investment ever. Wish I would have purchased sooner. Set timer for max time in order to get a hard clump that doesnt stick, tidy cats is great, dont rush it, its your new best friend.
Seven years with LitterRobot. Had to replace a few parts. On line tutorials made repair and diagnosis easy. Manufacturer has been very liberal covering parts under warranty that were far past the first year. Worth every penny.
I love my litter robot! I use a 35 lb pail of litter and just get a cup, scoop the litter into the cup, and dump it into the robot. The Litter robot is worth every dollar!
We are on our 3rd litter robot (1 original and 2 robot 3 versions). I highly recommend that you consider getting the extra warrantee coverage as we've had to have our version 3 robot repaired twice (currently waiting on the latest repair to be sent back to us). You might also consider keeping the box (or have a box large enough to fit the bottom section in) just in case you need to have it repaired and shipped back. Even though we've had these issues with them, I SINCERELY HATE using the old manual litter boxes in the down time. Having to clean it out daily with the 3 cats. We have a large bucket (litter container), in which we empty a box of new litter in, and use a stainless steel cat food dish to put new litter into the robot. Fresh Step is currently what we use. We have 3 grown cats, in which requires emptying the bin twice a week. We use tie-down regular (11 gallon?) garbage bags instead of the manufacturer's bags. A lot cheaper. I agree that the WIFI version sounds good. We didn't get that version though. Our RoboRock robot vacuum has a neat app in which I use. I wish more companies would come out with new automatic litter boxes that were cheaper than the Litter Robot. We won't dare trying the LitterMaid or Nature's Miracle. I've tossed too many messed up LitterMaids away and both that one and Nature's Miracle only have 3 and 2 star ratings on Amazon. The reviews on PetSafe weren't great either. Their litter replacement trays are expensive. Would we get, yet again, another Litter Robot in the future? Until someone else comes out with a cheaper, more reliable one, yeah. Just so glad that we got the extra warrantee (I think it was for 3 years, and our last version 3 died after 10 months).
The Nature's Miracle litter has some kind of powder in it which I think is for the odour control which the litter robot kicks into the air when it rotates..I had terrible problems with allergies when using it and ended up throwing it out. I've considered getting a petsafe or LIttermaid in addition to the litter robot just because I find it fills up so quickly with my 3 cats and I hate having to do a full clean of it every week. Between the three of them their pee wets it all the way to the rubber so everything sticks. I bought the litter robot 3 without the remote upgrade as it was 3 months away from being released at the time but was told by Cat Evolution that you can purchase the modification for something like $60 and it comes with instructions on how to install it yourself at home..I think it only needs a screwdriver.
I'm getting a cat in a few days and I have been literally stressing over the literally box scenario since my last house had a catio. I'm hoping this will ease the smell and work that goes into litter boxes. Thanks for the review!
I have a litter robot and I love it. One of my cats is 8 pounds and the other is 14 pounds, Making sure it is on a hard surface is important so the weight sensor can be triggered. It took much longer for my bigger cat to use the Litter Robot then it did the little one. It has amazing odor control and is super easy to keep clean. I also have a ScoopFree and I do like the Litter Robot better, My bigger cat likes this a bit better but he uses both. Odor control is better on the litter robot.
May I ask how long you’ve had yours? I’m seriously considering purchasing one. But I saw it only has a 18 month guarantee, so I’m just concerned they break after that. I just don’t wanna spend $500 on something that won’t even last 2 years.
@@kellikloepfer1338 Hello Kelli, I have had mine for a year and a half. I have had only one problem and that was my fault when I overfilled the unit and it wouldn't complete a cycle. I work in the field of robotics and, in my opinion this is a well made product, I have no regrets on my purchase.
GREAT review! Thanks for being so thorough. I've been on the fence with this for a while but after watching your objective video I'm going to purchase one. :-)
Really great and fair review! I got the Litter-Robot III Connect a few weeks ago and eventually decided to return it after a 3 weeks test due to the following reasons: 1. Agree that the sensor is a bit inconsistent... because of that, there were too many issues during the day that requires a manual reset - which means that the litter robot will pause in a position (sometimes upside down) and needs a human to reset it. My main worry is that if we are all out and nobody can reset it, the cats will have no litter box to use and do their business elsewhere. 2. Space: my boys are not very big (10lb), but they are used to the Jumbo litter box (24 x 17). Because of that, one of them was really confused by the limited space and not being able to move freely after pooping/peeing, which causes him to step on his poops accidentally... (this has never happened in the regular litter box) 3. Cats' reactions (this might get better with time though): They both started using it pretty quickly. However, they both have some interesting reactions lol. While my jumpy one will watch each cleaning circle and attack the poops/pee balls as they drop, the other one can't wait to get inside it again and will often stay for over 2+ mins - which triggers a protective sensor issue that requires a manual reset. Overall I do think the Litter-Robot has great potential, but a few upgrades are definitely needed.
How easy was returning it? I’m really debating getting this. But I have 6 cats (ranging from 6lbs-12lbs) and I don’t know if it would even be worth it since I’d have to constantly empty the tray from the sounds of it. I would love to try it and wouldn’t be quite so hesitant if I know I can return it easily if it doesn’t work out.
@@MuttsAreMyLife Return was pretty easy as I have kept the original box. So just cleared the Litter-Robot, put it back in, and dropped off at ups. However, you do have to pay for the shipping. It's $60 for drop off at UPS and $75 (if I remember correctly) for picking up at your place. After they receive the package, they will refund you minus the shipping cost.
I use a large plastic cup to put fresh litter in mine. I have 2 cats. One is about 15lbs & one is about 5lbs. I've had my litter robot about 3 weeks now. I haven't had any issues & absolutely love it. For me it's been worth every penny. I do use an additional mat to catch litter as it comes out.
Hi Beth! Any issues with your bigger cat using/fitting in the litter robot? I have a larger cat as well, and it’s the only con holding me back from buying it.
@@jessie5393 Personally I have not had any issues with my larger cat as far as size goes. It did take him an extra couple days to get fully used to it. Only because the cleaning cycle freaked him out a bit when he first saw it. Now he uses it like a pro!
Another suggestion for adding litter would be to use a scoop or old plastic container (like the pint or half-pint container that Chinese food comes in or a butter/margarine container) rather than trying to dispense it directly from the container. I do this, anyway, with my regular litter tray because the others are too heavy for me to lift and maneuver without spilling.
So one thing I’m noticing is I got mine this past Friday and today I’ve had to change the bag already. I do have five cats but I have two additional boxes that they can use. I notice when it cycles through it will dump a lot of the clean litter into the pan making it seem full when it’s not. I’m using arm and hammer slide litter.
Hm, that's worrying! I've never noticed the LR dumping clean litter into the pan before, and it sounds like you're using a great litter with it. You may want to contact Litter Robot customer support to make sure there's nothing wrong with your unit.
So I did contact them and it was determined by them thst I may have had too much litter in the pan. Litter should go below the rubber line inside the box. Well that’s not a whole lot of litter if that’s the case which I can see why people are like this is good for two cats but more than that no. I have five cats. 😱. So I’m gonna see how this all plays out for a couple more weeks or at least a month since I have 90 days. If this winds up being more trouble than it’s worth then I’m sending it back :(
Litter is still going to go down into the pan regardless of how much is in it tho, so I don’t see how that will make any difference. If anything i think it would make me have to fill it more often and it’s seems like a waste of clean litter more of that going into the dump pan than the clumped or along with the clumped litter
I have 4 cats so getting a self cleaning litter box is a big deal for me since I don't want to have an army of litter boxes. Glad you covered this and gave your honest opinion. Thank you
@@user-kl7xo6jx3q I havent gotten one yet. I'm planning to get 1 and see how it handles 4 cats. If I need to get a second one, then I will but there's no need to spend the money on 2 if one does the trick
I have 5 indoor cats and 2 litter robots 4 of them love it and the other one uses it begrudgingly! Can't live without them, Works perfectly with world's best litter! The connect's cost $700 in Europe and only 2 year warranty, you guys in the US always get the best deals!! Someone mentioned it monitors your cat's weight, I don't see that in the app??
I keep my litter in a laundry basket and I use a super food scoop similar to this to scoop my litter in..it makes it really easy and means you only need one or two scoops to fill the litter www.ebay.com.au/i/172729915820?chn=ps&norover=1&mkevt=1&mkrid=705-139619-5960-0&mkcid=2&itemid=172729915820&targetid=921460872233&device=c&mktype=pla&googleloc=9071712&poi=&campaignid=10756954042&mkgroupid=108960648191&rlsatarget=aud-692203741102:pla-921460872233&abcId=9800383&merchantid=107675161&gclid=CjwKCAjwzIH7BRAbEiwAoDxxTkiqvspov27bhYCNMxo1LUbTgNHP0d8J6AW6qF845KNSZpGj5hELOBoC4iYQAvD_BwE
Thank you for the wonderful review. After watching your video several times I finally decided to purchase mine today. I can't wait for my cat's to use it! Thank you for the save $25 link.
A bit ago, I decided that an automatic litter box would be a helpful gift for my grandfather who is 82 years old and owns two cats. I searched endlessly on the internet comparing products and trying to figure out what would be best for him. I'd been told by a lot of friends that the Litter Robot is the way to go, but after some more thinking, I went with the Autoegg over it. He couldn't be more ecstatic about not having to clean up after them anymore. He says that everyone likes to comment on his "cat bidet," when they come over. So the design is certainly something to think about and overall functionality is life-saving. It's certainly attracted a lot of attention but all for good reason! If there's any new models that come out in the future I might see about getting one myself.
Great review! I had Litter Robot for 2 years. Numerous sensor issues, nothing needs to be replaced or repaired. It doesn't really detect my smaller cat. If the cat came out and went back in immediately, the sensor will stop functioning and I have to reset manually. I will replace it in couple of weeks with Petkit Pura X. I hope you can do a review of Pura X because I don't really trust the reviews on TH-cam. Thanks.
Hi Kellen, thank you for your comment. I've had the Pura X for a while but have been struggling with a malfunction, hence the delay in getting a review out. We'll plan to have it published within the next few months.
Here's what I do, Use a small container to put right in the litter box then just add a few containers until desired fill is achieved. I have had the first version of this litter box for over 7 years and it's still going.
I've had my litter robot for about 18 months now. I started off using clay litter provided by the distributor, but found that when it would get wet in my bathroom it would smear the floors. Being in an apartment clay litter isn't ideal because it can't go down my drains. I have Nature's Best Corn litter which was great at first but had odour control enzymes which I found travelled in the air and gave me allergies as well as smelling quite strongly after a few days (poor smell control), followed by Applaws brand walnut grain litter, which I do love because it is a flushable litter I can hose down the shower drain..and it is reasonable odour control..however I have for the past couple of months had problems with little flies in my kitchen and bathroom which I'm struggling to control and I believe that problem may be related to the fact I am using an organic litter. Its frustrating as I'm not sure what the long term solution is. The cats commonly kick litter out of the litter robot which necessitates me keeping it in the bathroom. The litter catcher attachment is a waste of time as my male cat kicks it off when he's burying his deposits. I bought the stairs but also think buying the stairs is a waste of time unless you have an older cat, as it takes up a big surface area and tends to fall off if the cats jump around (I have 3). I thought spending AUD $800 + for this litter box would cover me for 3 cats.. we get by but I would say its better off for 2 cats... with 3 I get major sticking of litter (like an inch thick that I have to scrape off the inside of the bowl every couple of days) as it doesn't drop into the recepticle. The litter robot also smells quite bad after 1-2 weeks of use. Ideally I have to clean it once a week, but its a big job to take it apart, rinse out all the bits, rinse out my litter mats, and disinfect everything (would be way easier if I had a garden hose rather than having a bathroom apartment). I also find the sensor is inconsistent, but I believe that is in part due to the heavy traffic of the cats, which all weigh different weights and I think they jump in before the waiting time has completed, which causes it to constantly reset itself. As a sanity check when I get up in the morning before I go to work I press the cycle button just to make sure that they have a clean litter box to go in. I find it gets full about every 3 days..but I certainly don't find after a year of use that the odour control is fantastic..I've resorted to having a plug in air deoderiser in the bathroom and have cut a kitty portal in the bathroom door to keep it closed to help woth odour..but even then after its been in use for a few days you can still smell it when close to the bathroom, which I find disappointing and embarrassing. Is it still one of the best on the market? Yes. Would I recommend it for 1-2 cats ? Yes. But for 3, no..I see this year there are a number of other cat litter boxes that have automatic litter replenishing functions on them , and openings that more or less stop litter fallout on your floor...those models weren't around 18 months ago but if they were knowing what I do now I probably would have tried a different model. One thing I do want to say as I see a lot of these things being tested on carpet...DO NOT PUT YOUR LITTER ROBOT ON THE CARPET! I get poop nuggets kicked out on the floor and scattered by the cats when they are kickers.. its definitly not something you want on a rug.
Jessica Reid Sounds like you have drain flies. Hydrogen peroxide down your drain usually takes care of them. Use it regularly. Also a pot of boiling water once a week.
Jessica Reid I have w units. One on each end Of my house. When one of them is being repaired/cleaned the. Other handles 6 cats. I just have to empty the drawer more often. One of them sits on a 3/4 inch thick piece of plywood on the carpet.
I think the bad smell is because the drawer has humidity and make worse the smell. I started to use inside next to the filter a Moisture Eliminator with charcoal, only $1.00 in Dollar Tree. Also using the natural World’s Best Cat litter with Tidy Cats Free Clean Unscented (Half/Half). This works for me. www.dollartree.com/the-home-store-moisture-eliminators-98oz/144947
My 16 pound cat jumped in and used it while I was reading the directions on how to introduce your cats to it and had barely finished setup. Both of my cats really seem to like it. I have also have had issues with light weight litter. I’m looking for the best litter for it.
Question: It appears there is a liner in the bottom of the Litter Robot3. Should I be worried that my cats will claw at it and puncture it or is it durable rubber?
The rubber is REALLY durable. I've had it for 4 years, and any scratches are very light, certainly not coming close to breaking through, and it still seems to resist odor buildup in there as well.
our connect feature stopped working after a week. No amount of recycling or power cycling will show the Litter robot network to connect to. Do I need a new electronics unit?
How many "visits to the bathroom" does the system typically allow for until it is full? I really don't mind scooping myself. I am considering this for when I travel. My thought was I could get this and an automatic feeder and I would no longer need someone to stop by everyday to feed the cat / scoop the box. So I am wondering how long it will last until someone would have to be there to add more litter / empty out the bin.
Hi. For one cat, you could go for about a week to ten days between each time the drawer needs to be emptied. As for refilling the litter box, I'd put that at once every one and a half months or so. Because it's cycling so frequently, the Robot should stay relatively clean for a longer time than a traditional box.

I have my LR3O about 4 months (over 90days) so I cannot return it anymore. I have a problem that it is always disconnect and offline from the phone app. Please help me to fix it. I called the company, I tried to reset, clean, change the network as they told me but the robot is still offline. Anyone have the same problem please teach me how to soft it 😭😭😭
Unfortunately, I've had a similar issue and haven't been able to solve it. You may find help in the Litter-Robot Support Group on Facebook: facebook.com/groups/500310760811157
Great review, the small inside size is a deal breaker for us. It seems like a great idea but overall it seems they had to make too man comprises in design limiting it's use, especially considering the price.
I’ve had a litter robot since it first came out. Amazing product and worth it, especially if you have two cats. I will say, even though clay litter is easier... you should not use it ! clay litter is very bad for your cats. They lick their paws and ingest the clay which causes blockages and a lot of other health issues. I use a corn based litter with the robot. it sticks a bit but it’s much safer for your pets.
Have you tried the Litter Robot? We want to know about your experience. Tell us about it in the comments!
Hi Mallory!
Complete and very helpful product review...thumbs up!😻👍
😍Your amazing! Hope this new pet channel explodes with followers!
Would it work with tofu litter ? Thanks
Hey Xian, I believe it would. Tofu litter makes softer clumps, so you might want to set a longer cycle timer, but otherwise, yes-I think it would work.
All About Cats the litter would be able to fall through the holes? As tofu litter is long strips
Lmao
🤣🤣🤣 I have 4 cats & cannot bring myself to spend that much money on a litter box. We have 4 cats & 2 extra large steel litter boxes that cost $60 each. Cleaning the litter boxes have always been a chore for the kids to teach them to take care of their pets.
Lolz
Hahaha! Love it!😅😂🤣
Lmfao I know that's right !
This comment seems familiar! Thank you for sharing your experience.
I'm a human and I'm still fascinated with the cycle process even though we've had it for over a year.
What liter are you using
Mallory, I have to say that your reviews are objectively some of the best from anyone for any product I have ever seen.
I'm probably going to talk my wife into getting the non-WIFI version of the LR3.
Thank you-it's very encouraging to receive this kind of feedback. All the best to you, your wife, and your cats.
They should add a microchip censor so you can know which cat uses it. I also feel it'd be more consistent than the weight censor
That's an awesome idea, NeAsha! I love it. Thanks for sharing.
im dying of laughter
They have a cat feeder tgat does that!!! But yes they should do this for the litter bot
Vaccinated cats only.
For $500, I wish they had made the waste drawer larger :(
In the morning I’d just have “toss the litter” as part of my usual routine
Hello, what kind of toleto to buy for cats, I want to buy, I'm not sure which one to choose?
Casey Ann
One of my cats loves to reach in and dig while the globe is rotating.
I have 7 cats and 2 litter robots, 2 and 3 and they work great. I got my first one 8 years ago. If you have multiple cats, the litter robot helps keep your cats from stepping onto the others poop and reduces the risk of FIP.
Thank you, this was the best product review I have ever seen. In fact it was so good, I did subscribe, that is something I rarely do. Again thank you.
Give it time, and hopefully you’ll also love it
Pretty awesome! Now I can finally automatically send out a tweet when ever my cat takes a dump!
Welcome to the future!
We're adopting 3 kittens this Friday. I have been watching your videos and my husband and I will be getting this (despite the price 😭). In any case, thank you for being here and doing what you're doing (it matters)💕
Rachel, thank you for the support! Wishing you and your three new babies all the best.
The pillow in your background looks just like my kitten, even the little freckle on the nose. I always smile when I see that pillow.
Awww, that's so sweet! I'm glad to hear that it reminds you of your kitten.
Mine too!
It’s been a year. Thoughts?
Great honest review. I have been curious to see the features of this robot. Thanks for sharing!
Excellent product. Bought our first one in 2016, and we now have 2 of them for 5 cats. I empty the drawers every other day. Works great for us.
Great review. Not just a great product review, but a very good presentation by the speaker.
All you have to do is pour the litter in a big measuring cup, pitcher, big cup to insert the litter. Then it wouldn’t be awkward.
That was the exact same idea I had.
I mean, I’d hope for hundreds of dollars I wouldn’t have to be messing around pouring litter into a cup
Well ppl pay thousands for a vehicle and still tweak it with mods. Anything you buy may need a little tweak here and there.
Little suggestion.. when you empty the litter out of the box, try flipping it so it’s horizontal with the hole to pour out the cat litter on the top right corner, then slowly tip the end without the hole up giving you much more control with where the litter goes - great review!! 🥰
Or just pour litter into a 32 or 16 Oz takeout Tupperware first...
@@Kate-su6tf teehee its the little things that make that job much more worth it.
I don't know why I've never thought of this- going out to get a bucket with lid + dog food container this weekend!

Such a thorough review!!!!! You really hit all the marks
I just bought my connect 3. Thanks so much! I bought the 3yr guarantee too. Worth the extra $50. We’ll see how my cats like it.. I have three!
Hope it works for you and your three kitties!
The smart home function is interesting, if i can start playing Mozart on the Bluetooth speakers once the cat is detected, and put some mood lighting on it, perhaps automatically open a can of tuna once they're finished...
Be careful feeding your cats tuna very often. Tuna can contain mercury and lead to mercury poisoning!
🤦🏼♀️
BTW I have got to say that I love the fact you have a cat Named Forest. I have no idea why I like it but I do.
I just ordered one and hoping it is the solution for the smelly poops🙌🏼 I appreciate how much time you took to test all of these items!! I have 2 slightly chunky kitties but we currently have two breeze systems and they prefer the enclosed one to the bigger open one. Your patience for testing out different litters is also amazing because I would’ve hated it lol so thank you!
how did it go with the smell? interested in getting one cause i live in an apartment
Great review.. FYI, the litter outside the guard, on the lip, will go back into the main bed, when it cycles.
Great unbiased review and attention to detail. I liked the video, but I felt this was worthy of a comment.
Thank you, Theos.
Excellent review. Particularly helpful was taking the time to show the cleaning of the machine. I don’t have a cat but am curious about advances in products like this.
I think my cat would be scared of it, but yes. This is a very good review. Answered all my questions. Thank you.
Thanks for the comment, Vicki!
Thanks for the tip, Brandon.

My cats the same, he'll pee on everything else if his litter box isn't cleaned to his liking. He's super specific.
What kind of automatic feeder is it? Have you tried the feeder?
Good for you for adopting a senior cat. 🥰
that’s awesome!

I absolutely hate cleaning/changing litter boxes. The $ is worth it IMO.
I’m not a cat person. I like cats but didn’t really wanna own one. my cat I found in a dumpster & just couldn’t let her go. I HATE the litter box. I double mask & glove up (even before Covid). I’m debating getting this but the price is a little out of range 😩 should I just do it?

Best investment ever. Wish I would have purchased sooner. Set timer for max time in order to get a hard clump that doesnt stick, tidy cats is great, dont rush it, its your new best friend.
Seven years with LitterRobot. Had to replace a few parts. On line tutorials made repair and diagnosis easy. Manufacturer has been very liberal covering parts under warranty that were far past the first year. Worth every penny.
This was a great presentation. Very informative l.
Tip...get a little scoop so you can get sand from the litter container and throw it in the robot.
Thorough and helpful review, thanks!

Hello Kelli,
I have had mine for a year and a half. I have had only one problem and that was my fault when I overfilled the unit and it wouldn't complete a cycle. I work in the field of robotics and, in my opinion this is a well made product, I have no regrets on my purchase.
Thank you so much for your reply! I seriously might splurge and purchase one.

Thank you, Caissa! Glad to hear that the review helped you.
Very informative, thank you for taking the time to show your review.
Really great and fair review! I got the Litter-Robot III Connect a few weeks ago and eventually decided to return it after a 3 weeks test due to the following reasons:
(this has never happened in the regular litter box)

I have 2 and had to empty it around every 3 days.
Thanks for posting, this is the most useful and lucid review I've seen on this. :)
Thank you
Hi do you only have 1 litter robot or multiple
@@user-kl7xo6jx3q I havent gotten one yet. I'm planning to get 1 and see how it handles 4 cats. If I need to get a second one, then I will but there's no need to spend the money on 2 if one does the trick
Best review for this product out there!
I'm not sure why someone claimed that it can track weight-it just doesn't! This is not a feature in the Litter-Robot Connect app.
I've seen a lot of people use a scoop to add litter to the litter robot
That's a good idea! Thanks.
I just ordered one!! I'm so excited!
Same lol
Jake, that was a great gift! So glad that your grandfather is happy with it.
I know they say clay litter is best with litter robot but do you think clumping walnut litter would work?
curious, what's to stop you from filling up the tray below with a light layer of litter and scooping out the waste instead of replacing bags?
Good question. You could certainly get away with that!
I have had the first version of this litter box for over 7 years and it's still going.
can i run this in manual mode, that is i can press the button on the unit or start cleaning in the app? I don't want the automatic cleaning
Kinda-Litter-Robot simply recommends leaving the Robot off unless you're cycling it to run it in "manual mode".

Sounds like you have drain flies. Hydrogen peroxide down your drain usually takes care of them. Use it regularly. Also a pot of boiling water once a week.

I have w units.
My cat did that a cat litter container while I was cleaning her box.
😂
Thanks for such an in-depth review. I appreciate your clarity and completeness. Thanks!
I have trouble cleaning my cats 4 litter boxes and sprain my wrists easily so I am happy bc I am finally getting the litter robot
I have had one for about a month now. Love it!
good review!
was looking for litter review.
I doubt it. I would recommend contacting Litter-Robot support: www.litter-robot.com/support.html
Does the app work if youre out of town?
Yes!
Best review, thanks
Whats your favourite litter box and litter? considering cleaning, smell, clumping and litter tracking. thank you!

Thank you so much for this video!
Does this help with bone smells in the airconditioning vents?
I doubt it. :-)
Thanks for the review. I'll be sending this to my mom to see if she would like something like this.
Thank you! I hope your mom finds it helpful.
How big is it? I have medium size cats
thanks for the great and in depth review, really appreciated!
love the pillow, looks just like my kitty Zoey. :)
Great review, the small inside size is a deal breaker for us. It seems like a great idea but overall it seems they had to make too man comprises in design limiting it's use, especially considering the price.
My same thinking.
Great review! Sad that it's not environmentally friendly. So 52 big plastic kitchen bags go the landfill every year?
