G4 is just the best all around
thank you
Idk I think I'd choose the G4..
It was a pleasure sitting in this room with you guys covering this. This was one of the most helpful rooms at mwave!
Wow a95l still pops up😮
One of the attendees of MWAVE made a great video about his experience of this comparison. His channel is called Spencer's Stuff, I recommend anyone watching this video to check out his video next. He gives a pretty solid overview of how he thought all the tv's performed across the different scenes. This experience convinced him to buy the Bravia 9 despite the fact that the 65' was used, which is the least performant Bravia 9 variant.
Thanks for the heads up. Gonna check that out
Saw it yesterday and seemed very grounded so it left me considering the B9.
Thanks for pushing my channel! Much appreciated. Ironically enough, I was sitting in the room during this video 😁
yeah watch the video last night, very helpful!
who in their right mind would want to deal with a flat image with blooming, bad viewing angles and less 3D Pop/Depth than even the Bravia 8
G4 and A95L are simply on another level than Bravia 9. Hence they are rated 9.2 on Rtings.
Great job guys!!!
Very nice TVs. It's interesting that even with different tech the A95L and Bravia 9 still look related. Same DNA
LG G4 and S95D just destroying all other models

I love you guys doing MWAVE! We need this on the east coast!
If the TVs were not covered, meaning the logos or labels, that would be in my opinion, the only way for people to honestly pick their favorite TV! Because some may go in with preconceived notions, as you said, for a certain model and not go towards that TV in terms of the vote so to speak. So if the TVs were labeled, with the Sony label, LG, Samsung, etc., then to me that is not a fair and honest shoot out so to speak. I think someone brought this up in the last year or so at different shootouts also. Cover the Sony, cover the LG, cover up the labels, then have people come, watch a bunch of different content, and select the best TV in their opinion.
If I remember correctly usually mask the brands of the TVs, certainly when Vincent from HDTV hosts these sort of shootout he also ensures it's done. I think the reason why they identified the brands right away in this video is because this not really a shootout but a description of each TV
I had no idea which was which. Was dark when I went in. Fun to guess = could have a contest. 🤷
I was thinking the same. Assign each a number and put a shroud in front to cover any branding. Make it a blind test if that was the intent.
@@amen_ra6926 exactly!!
ya'll needed to drop the backlight on the QM8. It was too bright for the camera to pick up the details compared to the others.
Yes ... lose alot of details!
I have had the G4 for 2 weeks now, for me the best TV. Samsung, I dont like the matte panel and lack box. Sony Bravia, only two HDMI 2.1 ports and does not support 1440 for gaming.
Huh, curious why you opted to not include the Hisense U8N.
Exactly.!!!👍👍 Where is Hisense U8N?
They only had one LCDTV on display apart from Bravia nine, is the QM8. The rest are OLED . He put them on dynamic mode throughout and says most people watch sports in dynamic mode!😂
Thank you FOMO amd Brian, i enjoy your content 😊
Great job on the video.
This is very impressive y’all. From TH-cam to full on presentations? Loved the confidence and knowledge share
Superb presentation! Sold!
great year to be in attendance. wish I was there to chop it up with you guys
You two have a great stage presence and chemistry
But the problem with the oleda tvs is that they can't keep the peak brightness for long. I have own many Oleds and after a while the panels dims which is annoying in my opinion so that's the reason I am thinking on getting the TCL QM851 but we'll see.
The G4 will not dimm or atleast not much.
@@kjell9745 But if I get another oled it'll be a Samsung because for gaming it's better. I own the S90D
The LG G4 is the OLED that will dim the least while watching content over time. According to RTINGS, it can sustain a little over 300 nits of brightness in a full 100% window (in SDR) which is higher than any other OLED on the market. Most of them cap out at around 200 nits. It still can’t hold a candle to miniLED TVs though. Most of those can sustain 600 nits or higher full screen brightness. If you really hate ABL I’d just go for a miniLED. 300 nits still isn’t that much (especially in a bright environment) so dimming will be noticeable. Also keeping the brightness high in a WOLED panel is only possible by washing out the image due to the over brightening of the white sub-pixel. And OLED pixels are organic so they degrade over time. That brightness definitely won’t be as strong after a couple of years of consistent usage
@@FenixPajarito everyone has an opinion,
don't like the Tizen OS and the over vivid modes. I really like the 3D pop and that is only a thing the Lg have.
@@vikingsfan2218 I don't think I'll ever purchase another LG TV I don't like Black Crush and LG Oled tvs suffer from than more than the other brands.
This just confirms that I should go with the S95D for my new apartment which has a lot of ambient sunlight from floor to ceiling windows in the living room. Thanks!
FOMO, you are absolutely right about Samsung 8K processor should be in the S95D
G4 for the win, not upgrading this year though. G5 will be mine next year
Absolutely fantastic job hosting the TV comparison room at MWAVE 2024. My hats off to FOMO and Brian. You guys rock!
Youth fomo has no idea in his video tcl and sony 9 video he had sony 9 in vivid mode for 4k sport to me anyone who does this has no idea
Nice to see an LED in the mix. I love LED brightness, but went over to the dark side of OLED a few years ago lol. Not sure I could go back, but never know what the future holds for TV tech, always exciting. Thank you guys for you all your work, to entertain us and help us make some big decisions!
Once you go true black you never go back
I got rid of my 83 inch LG G4 for a 98 inch tcl qm8 and couldn't be happier.
OLED is the best tech in smaller sizes but some are afraid to say that the smaller OLEDs are no comparison to the emersion of the 98-100-110 and 115" mini leds. Tech is very close but sizes are not close in competition.
who the hell needs those stadium sized TV's. you'd need a massive room and have to sit so far away or risk serious long term eyesight damage. (I guess not a concern for naive young people, but later... 💀)
also the image of the G4 and QM8 is not even close...they are worlds apart in image quality, the Alpha Gen a11 is a thing of beauty, even surpassed Sony's XR Cognitive chip.
@@TheAntifluencer cool opinion.. and people don't really "need" a tv to begin with, its a luxury item. I've got the space for it so that's why I have it. Ive had both the G4 and now the QM8 and its fine enough for me, and I'm happy. Eyesight will go out over time regardless, it comes with age or outside factors like an IED giving you tbi and deteriorating vision but I digress.. hell drinking even to much water is bad for you.. point is life on earth is short my friend, so , so long as your happy with something, maybe don't be so bitter and try justifying your reason or not over another's.. specs are specs and sure the OLED is superior technology and nobody's going to argue the G4 on paper has the better specs over the QM8.. but coming from someone who's had both.. I like the QM8 better.. but that's just like my opinion.. man..
I haven’t seen a video where the QM8 wasn’t completely over exposed. With both the g4 and qm8 optimally calibrated for a dark room, how big is the quality difference? I am leaning towards the immersive size of the qm8, but these online reviews make it look so bad on screen compared to the g4
So after all is said and done, and the tv's being out for a couple of months now, which tv is the one to get, or is the smarter buy ... G4 or A95L? Which one is the best package when it comes to brightness, games, movies, processing, motion and most important, price? Or does the QD panel with its bright and colorful colors on the A95L (or S95D) still trump everything, at the end of the day?
Well if you are shopping for price: S90C/S95D. The best overall TV is still the A95L.
Not a surprise at all here, Bravia 9 was so overhyped to the Moon, it was bound to fail to the masterfully crafted Alpha Gen a11 which surpassed Sony's XR Cognitive in terms of raw 3D Depth, contrast, Details clarity and resolution. The G4 is simply THE best looking TV since the A95L...it's not close. Rtings 9.2 score against a 8.8 score of Bravia 9. Sorry big gap !
I was surprised at how much better the S95D is over the S90C in every way.
I have both and calibrated both, playing with settings.
It is crazy better.
Gaming color luminance, overall brightness, Tone mapping, HDR impact.. just everything
Hey fomo. Ive got a 77in a80L do you think that the bravia 9 is a step up? I saw it at bestbuy and it looked impressive 😊
Your room was grrrreat & was cool seeing them all next to each other. G4 looked best to me but didn't look that closely as I'm happy w/ my c2 83. Next year I will as my upstairs TV needs to go.
White balance looks different on the LCD TVs versus OLED.
Which TV won the competition?
The most impressive TV was the S95D, even though I don't like the matte finish.
G4 slayed the S95D, clarity, depth not close. Samsung bad processing and upscaling.
Hello, would you recommend the lg c4 or the Samsung s90c
This is so well done and presented.. Maybe it is time to do your own TV shootout..
Really impressive work you have done here! 😮😮😮
you honor us with your praise John!!
Any colour banding on the C4?
This made me more confused. Do I buy the Bravia 9 for the upscaling low bit rate sports or the G4 or something else if the tv is going to be in use all the time...
Is the TCL just so insane bright or is the gamma lower (lighter picture, more shadow detail)
How is a proper shootout if you're missing so many models?
The thing about reflections - came across a post by one guy who explained it very well - reason why we don’t notice faint reflections because of different focal lengths when you focus your eyes on the picture you would not see the reflection unless is high enough to force you to change your eyes focal length
any word on whether there will be an 83” (or similar size) QD-OLED coming out-Sony or Samsung, either later this year or next 2025??
Thnx for the great comparison!
Is the g4 a great tv for mostly sports. NHL. NFL. Soccer?
Yeah it’s great
You should have left them all on the similar setting. TCL was at a disadvantage bring in vivid mode. All that did was make it a light canon that wasn't able to look natural.
G4 won the shooutout?
hell yea. easiest call of any year, there is just no worthy opponent from Sony for LG this year.
2021 A90J vs G1, 2022 A95K vs G2 vs S95B 2023 A95L vs G3 vs S95C
all way closer
Can't believe you and Brian haven't done an in depth comparison with the Sonys and LG. Driving me crazy here haha
I am sure that you considered this question and had your reasons. This did not appear to be a blind test. Could you add an explanation in the description? Not saying it was wrong, but I would like to understand your decision.
The TCL QM8 has higher contrast and the best value from all of them. TCL and Hisense is giving them a run for their money.
How does this help me choose between G4 ans S95D 😂 ?
No hisense u8n?
YES!!! I knew immediately which one was the cheap model because it’s so bright and blown out. The TCL. I called it before you guys even showed the list. I’m getting good at this. You guys have educated me. ❤
Wow look how good the g4 looks! Then I’d look at the S95D and it would look even better… QDOLED is really a spectacular technology and an upgrade over WOLED.
It literally lost and was behind the S95D.
It really is. And the latest 0 '23, 0'24 minileds from Samsung also are getting so slept ON, at least in TH-cam for some weird reason since in the stores are getting sold as fresh bread 🍞. The QN95D is a mind blowing TV meanwhile everyone is talking about the Bravia 9 which is an amazing TV too no doubt but I still think the QN95D looks better in any aspect, especially off angles and HDR gaming wise. Also the local dimming in Samsung is on par with the Bravia 9 one if not better in some aspects since it covers more percentage of the black levels than Bravia 9 does and the blooming control is a little bit better in Samsung. Whoever tells you otherwise is just a fanboy, fanboying around since I talk from personal experience and not out of my ass like lots do.
It’s worth noting to all you saying that the QM8 is too bright, that camera can’t even properly capture the brightness especially when the exposure is set up for LCDs and OLEDs. It’s not blown out, it’s the camera. Source: I own it, doesn’t look like that in person.
Hello FOMO buddy😊
Why not include the Hisense U8N?
Why no QN900D? It is supposed to be a beast at upacaling and the 8k should allow you to sit even closer. I know there is little 8k content. But it still seens gorgeous in the showroom. It would have been interesting to see in the shootout. I thought Brian said it was better than the Bravia 9 at 85".
The brands provided the TVs probably so Samsung just didn't bring that one
For all than i see about qn900d Bravia 9 win on everything and have better picture quality on everything but not on Resolution!
Is it just me or s95D had a second highest APL after QM8? Was it because it’s in dynamic mode vs standard on the LG and Bravia.
Right now there are no decent HDR monitors atleast without significant drawbacks. I’m hoping that will change next year. Either OLED’s with decent brightness or Neo QLED with very little lightbleed
Qd oled monitors are very good - don't need the ridiculous brightness at that distance really.
HDR on pc is pants anyway though.
Demonstrating the different DNAs of the manufactures is super interesting and it makes so much sense because most people use standard mode..
From Watching your stream the other Brian said most people who walk into room thought the A95L was the bravia 9 . I betting thought the oled was better.
Where can I watch the stream you’re talking about?
they really couldn't tell the difference in most content but off angle over 30 degrees is when you can see the color/contrast of OLED
LG @@stopthefomoLG G4 IS CLEARLY THE WINNER 🏆📺
@@stopthefomo what? No difference between the A95l and Bravia 9 except at angles?
@@gosman949that’s what I’m saying
When samsung s90d was released there was a doubt about which one was woled and qdoled. Id like to see a comparisson between two s90d but one woled and one qdoled to see if theres a big difference.
you don't want the WOLED, in that case just buy a LG C4, Bravia 8 or Panasonic/Philips . Unless you like the Samsung's OS and gaming. Most countries getting 55 as a QD-OLED , many the 65 as QD-OLED , very few the 77" as a QD-OLED . You can tell which by the model name. Each region is slightly different . Ie samsung's WOLEDS are nothing special , just buy the cheapest ) non-MLA or last years G3 or a bit more for better processing
@@nimblegoat i know which one is qdoled and which is woled. I just wanted to see the difference. But the way you are woled is terrible comparings. Thank you.
@@diego1294 I don't think it's terrible. Most people would be very happy with it. But I think if you want to buy a Samsung then you would want a QD-OLED . Plus the other companies have been doing WOLED longer. Sure samsung does phones etc, but that's rgb and probably different processing again . If I could get a 83" Samsung S90D very cheap, then its sweet.
I think other buying decisions are more important. These TVs will improve a lot over the next 10 years , plus mini LCD, plus cheap large screen printed RGB will come etc - so is it best to go large now flagship, or a last years 77" bargain and hold off a few years to go big on a full BT2020 , 4000Nit TV. The average consumer is not an upgrader, they buy a new TV when old one fails, or want a 2nd one . People arguing B9 vs S95D vs G4 is funny to me , as next year's' TVs will beat all 3 , and they start there ongoing arguments for months all again . All 3 are very good and all seem to have very happy owners . Plus no point TV being the "best" if you don't like using it, or it meets your needs any better. Weird as people buy cars on overall package , and don't say ICE is old tech , or that car is crap as only 465Hp
Models have got different letters I think 65” is we oled rest is woled but it could differ from country to country
So, no Hisense, just wondering why?
When will be available TCL QM851G in Europe ?
C855 is closest
@@TheMailerDaemonLivesIn Europe it should be the TCL X955 with over 5000 dimming zones, but here only available above 85“.
Dear Fomo, I’m looking for a 65” tv for the well lit family room with wide viewing angles. I have found an lg C3 for $1499 or an A80L for $1599. Mostly will be watching sports on TH-cam tv along with some casual viewing while cooking etc. our layout places the tv by a large window with lots of natural light but no direct sunlight (blinds are also available)… Will I notice a difference with Sony’s xr clear when watching football this fall on NFl Sunday ticket? Or is OLED not the choice for a brighter room? I have an 85” x90L for a basement setup and it’s phenomenal
A80L better than the C3 for the content you like including football. Whether it's bright enough depends on what you're coming from? If an older LCD TV, then the A80L has a similar brightness but if recent miniLED then you may have to go with the S90C 77" or 65"
@@stopthefomo replacing a 2014 LG 55” LB6300 that finally died as a result of power board and sw board failure. The sw board was out of stock go figure
I guess Hisense wasn't available for this?
Maybe its a good thing. So NO one puts it on like Film Maker Mode. 😊 then it will look Funny 😊
From what I personally think, we need an more focused review between TCL, Bravia 9, Samsung A95L and the G4. 😅
This answered one of my questions regarding viewing modes. I've been wondering if people change modes based on content. That would be totally annoying to me. I would prefer "a set it and forget it" mode. Do owners actually change modes all the time? My viewing habits are made up of a lot of the usual streaming services, a lot of TH-cam tutorials, and some live sports during football season and some soccer. I very very rarely will watch DVDs anymore (Standard or Blu-ray). I've mentioned that I'm still watching a 2009 46" Samsung local dimming TV that still looks fine to me. So anything would be a significant upgrade. I don't cycle tech with that kind of price point every 5-6 years if it still works.
And the Panasonic Z95A ? (Or Mz2000)..
Z95A definetly slays the Bravia 9 MiniLED.
@@TheAntifluencer have you seen a side by side comparison ?
@@ramouchoGaucho Nah, but even the C4 looks better than the Bravia 9. Bravia 9 is barely better than the X95L, MiniLED is overglorified ancient Tech this year for some reason (only because it's a Sony). The Image on MiniLED TV's look flat and doesn't pop out at all ! There is a reason it's always OLED winning every award.
I’m yet to see a review of the QM851 without horrible calibration and settings.
Ain't going to lie I'm partial to the LG C3. Since I upgraded from the C1 to the C3 I have been extremely extremely happy.. the better brightness is made all the difference
Thank you fomo and Brian. It was a pleasure to meet both of you at MWave! The full line up of TVs you arranged allowed me to fully appreciate each technology type and how they individually excelled. The Bravia 9 so thoroughly impressed me even though I've been an OLED fan over the past 5 years.
Where is the U8N and U9 and or UX? For the price at 7-11 feet away…
Easy to see how dim oleds are…
And yeah… i am oled owner at this moment, but i am considering going to led in future.
Honestly if you think the G4 and S95D is dim idek for you
1000 nit graded content will have the same brightness on the G4 as say the Bravia 9 assuming they're both setup correctly.
Modern high end oleds are already bright enough unless you're one of the handful of people in the world that owns and regularly watches 4000 nit graded Blu-rays.
lol G4 is eye searingly bright, it's in fact brighter than a X95L MiniLED.
Excuse me? The G4 over the Sony A95L? And what's this about the G4 not having the burn in issues?
about thw burn in, i guess they mean that there's less chance for a burn in, due to the white subpixel which can make the whites really bright without too much strain
Its very strange that the Hisense looks the best over all. More depth and more color.
You mean TCL? Hisense U8N was not there
@@stopthefomo Right. And why wasn't it?
It looked really bright but the TCL lacked the refinement of the Sony, Samsung and LG.
@@CarsandCats Brands provided the TVs for this event and Hisense maybe didn't want to partake
Hi FOMO, between TCL 98QM8851G and Samsung QN98QN90D which Tv is best. Both are 98inch tvs.
I'd choose the QN90D for many reasons but you're paying a premium for that! HOWEVER, QM8 is brighter and more impactful but accuracy out of the box is not as good.

We WIN us everyday consumers. I picked up a 77’ LG G3 $2800! It is beautiful. I may not beat anything in this video but I am am having the best viewing experience of my life 😊
The TCL is way too bright it’s blowing out on the camera here.
I just got a Samsung S90C from Costco and I've done the s95 mod so it's looking great for $1599.00.... but I just can't help but wonder if I would rather have the G4 at 3K... Seems crazy I know but I honestly wouldn't mind spending them a little more to have really good processing.
The thing that's holding me back is the WOLED panel. If it had the colors that the Samsung does I would have already gotten it.
What size did you get the S90C and where did you get it at that price?
@@lpromer4796 got it from Costco and it's a 65 in. Been watching it all day it's a great TV. Maybe I should just chill and be happy. Came with a 5 year extended warranty.
I'm curious about that mod. What do you need to do and what's the benefit?
@@0dn4mr4 S90c uses the same panel as the s95c, the difference is in the settings from the factory. The s95 panel has settings that make it a brighter picture so when you change your S90c panel in the hospitality menu to the s95 panel it changes the Ana peak values from 588 to 670 or so(forget the exact values)and brightens up the image so your S90C becomes an S95C... That extra brightness is normally why you would spend the extra money to get the S95C. There are specific directions to follow online.
My head says I'm straight and I should just chill out and enjoy the value I have, my heart wonders what I'm missing in that G4.
I see right now Bravia 9 and G4 are better for hockey The QM8 is a little blown out
My camera couldn't capture its full brightness - it's not clipping just my camera sucks LOL dynamic range required to capture and properly expose everything would have to be closer to 20 stops not the 11 stops my FX30 had available
How is the stutter, these tv all have stutter on 24p muvies
I am going to make the choice and buy one of these in the 70 inch range. Right now the QM8 for $1800 is making a hard argument over spend $3500 for the Sony or $4500 for the LG/Samsung. Maybe I even go QM8 at 85 instead. The cost difference is so massive.
Yep. 85” TCL is indeed awesome
The lcd’s are insanely bright
After seeing the S95D washout that sunrise/sunset compared to all of the other TVs, it makes me wonder why it would be a choice. Seems as if Samsung jacked up brightness at the expense of bright accuracy. Also given that it is that bright, without MLA, when will it suck the brightness out of the panel to manage burn-in. It still seems to me that FOMO is on the payroll for Samsung. I wonder what will happen when Dolby Vision content with peak brightness of 4000 nits is released. These videos really don’t allow the watcher to fairly evaluate the pictures because there isn’t enough time and the images are not static.
should I wait for the new chip with 4 hdmi 2.1 coming out next year? it never ends....
NOPE, unless you really need it and a 2.1 VRR switcher doesn't cut it and you are assuming that the MediaTek feature is properly implemented - don't assume it will work perfectly in year one!
@@stopthefomoWhich HDMI 2.1 vrr switcher you recommend for gaming.
If they all are getting the same feed this is a good way to compare latency.
Yes, same feed and the G4 is consistently the fastest by a noticeable margin with S95D just behind but this is cinema home and movie mode, not game mode
For OLEDS(and the leds) on this video throughout - it was the A95L as King STILL over G4/S95D(they will mention them as favorites cuz sales - LOL) in 2024 immediately followed by the B3. The 65 B3 over the 65 C4 off angle shown throughout was pretty extraordinary and let you know that if you can pick one up for $1k(Costco) - DO IT. The B9 > TCL - however at the price point it's hard to say it's worth it until Black Friday prices. OLED is clearly > Mini-Led regardless of brand. The value electronics shoot out of 2024 coupled with a possible larger B-Patch to the A95L might yet again make it the King of 2024(even though it's a late 2023 model - not sure if technicality of 2023 rules it out).
A95l 100%
I can't tell from TH-cam but wished you had commented on their ABL behavior.
Why have C4 and especially B3 which for sure aren't the best from company on display when you could have displayed Hisense U8N, Samsung QN95D, QN900D, Sharp XLED or OLED etc
Thanks
Let Quantumtv in to the conversation his settings are undeniably
Just bravia9
It’s crazy that A95L still holding up against 2024 TVs..
A95L is technically a 2024 TV, it came out very late in 2023 and it still costs more than the G4 and S95D.
Bravia 9 is not a worthy 2024 Sony TV, MiniLED can't compete.
FOMO, I hope you record your videos 📹 in 4K HDR sometimes. 👍🏾
I wonder why he didn't put the Hisense with these
Prob a good thing. I dont want to see Hisense put into those funny Modes. Its also too bright, the Camera will over blown it. It wont show well in dark room like that due to filming capacity n the settings. 😊
@@Yoga_Tv_buying But the QM8 is there. It's also very bright.
❤❤❤❤❤
For me Sony every time. Best processing and natural colours
Have a C2 83" and a A95 55", both are excellent. its difficult to say some is much better than the other. The 95L colors are brighter, which is great, but it's not even close to a night a day comparison. The iPad Pro Tandem OLED display is amazing and that display is technically WB-OLED, well 2 of them sandwiched together. If you have not seen one, go see it! Apparently Dell just ordered 100k tandem oled panels, not sure for what products. One thing I noticed about the iPad Pro display is that it is bright even when the brightness is low or at the lowest.
