Great show! When you think about no fewer than 8 top level prospects (S, A, B).... pretty excitiing future ahead. Feel like Xhekac and Koivu are a bit under rated, but a realistic overall assessment. Thanks for sharing.
Good call on Kapanen guys. Now living in Europe, I have seen him play at least a dozen times. Rating him as a "B" prospect makes sense to me as there is little between him and Beck whom I have also seen play.
Also, as a reminder, Kapanen is playing in a professional league with older players hence why you are only now starting to see his stats improve.
IMO he will surprise many at training however given Habs have at centre Suzuki, Dach, Evans (? soon to be ufa) and in the pipeline Hage and Beck, I can't see Kapanen being more than 3C.
One remark to Mesar. He is tournament (playoff player). The better playmates he has, the better results he have. In the first half of season he had 1,5 poins per game. After WJC in the middle of season he use to have some downturn period + injury and changed line this year.

Honestly I hope by next year when demidov is available and lane Hutson takes over the power play with Nick,cole,slavzilla .we should have one of the best pp in the league ❤
Farrel's performance and consistency in the AHL will be the determining factor. He's got the hockey sense and the skills. Maybe if he works on his shot and bulks up, can he force his way into the big league. All in all, the la Laval Rocket will soon become pretty stacked and some suprises are going to occure because off the sheer amount of talented players who will be joining in the coming years.

Before being a Rocket, Dobec didn't have a goalie instructor. That's why he was getting better with time. We don't know his ceiling.
Hockey DB doesnt update the height and weight but just to name 2 ... Engstrom is 6'2 190 pounds not 6' 165 and Volohlin is 6'3 170 pounds not 6' 158 pounds. That changes a lot in the ranking imo
Sean Farrell still has the potential to be a B tier player imo, he aas another victim of the pandemic and his hockey IQ is off the charts

I think some Habs fans underestimate Beck, just my opinion of course. I believe he could end up being between an A or B prospect. I know I will get backlash for this, but I just think this kid could be special.
I think he’ll be great but I think you’re using “special” a little too loosely. He’s a good/solid prospect. I could see him being a 2nd liner but realistically a good third liner. Would be great on special teams

I agree as I see a bit of a Zack Hyman type potential in him but first conditions would have to be particularly favorable for him to get there : How can Dach bounce back from that injury? + Can he stay healthy long term ? How will Kapanen fare at camp on smaller Ice with more mobile & skilled defensemen on his case to shut down his amazing shot ? Those answers will set the opportunities Owen can then have between this coming season and the next which will be of utmost importance in his development.
I haven't seen Beck doing anything special individually. Maybe my knowledge of hockey isn't high enough to notice what Beck does that is excellent. I can only say that on the ice, for me, he is pretty invisible. Compared to Joshua Roy or Michael Hage, who seem to turn up the excitement as soon as they are in the ice, Beck seems to blend into the background. I hope I'm wrong.
@@zblip22 He is not flashy for sure, plays that brand of hockey of applying pressure, putting himself in and winning battles in front of the net or on the boards, finishing checks without doing the Brady Tkachuck thing of stupidly overcommitting so often racking up too many penaltys along the way, he blocks the netminders view, deflects pucks well on shots from the point, picks up bouncing pucks etc. There's one thing though he does at a truly elite level : winning faceoffs.
He'll never be a Slafkovsky kind of playmaker but he could make a dynamic fast skating line with a great playmaker on one side, a superb shooter on the other look really good.
Ferrell is underrated good. He looks like he’s not trying but he’s smart thinking the game. Harvard grad I believe

Florian is a C tier as where he'll play, but a S tier for how important he'll be. The last forward of his ilk was Knuckles.
Wesar will be higher (middle 6). They draft him in the first round for something - his creativity. He played two years in the men leage on the another level of thinking his linemates. He is not a shooter, so he needs the players finish his thoughs. That wasn't the case of Kitchener.
The stats for height and weight provided for most of the players are way off. Example: Engstrom is 6'2'/193 lb, not 6'/168 lb

Big Habs fan....but most of these guys were ranked one level too high in my opinion. Seemed to be ranked more on potential than most likely. Maybe I am just more pessimistic than most.
Nah, you're more realistic. Needed an E category too for guys who will stay in AHL or Europe.

You really needed an E category. Not every prospect plays in the NHL. I know you're trying to be positive but some of these prospects will be career AHLers or will play in Europe. Let's be realistic here.
Bogdan Konyushkov is high C tier for me. Skating and size are issues. #5 D man.

Beck looked like he could be a potential 2C in his first training camp. He could be a Danault type that can serviceably be a 2B center for awhile or in a pinch. Personally, I see a 3C shut down type C as his ceiling.
@@RiseFromTheAshZ That’s what I see too. A good 3rd line C that can take critical faceoffs and act as a top 6 C if someone gets injured or isn’t playing up to par.

Nah the IQ of Roy is off the charts.. There's a reason why Roy carried the wjc with Bedard and Beck only made the teams at the end of the tourney because of injuries.
