Just a minor correction, Wright will not be calder eligible next seasone as he played more than 6 games across 2 nhl seasons This was a great video, and i appricate you talking about his success in the ahl this year as it felt like that got ignored by those not following the kraken
He totally blew it by not going over seas and playing like others did. Two years after his draft and he might crack the lineup this year as a 3rd liner. His attitude has always been an issue.
@@joeybagadonuts5774 I don’t really want to judge his decision on not going overseas as there are so many variables to consider but you are totally correct. They need ice time to develop and he basically wasted the most important year of his development like that
Screwed up entire draft classes for the OHL. WHL at least had a limited season and the USHL mostly got to play their season, and those leagues did much better as far as number of players drafted in the following years.
@@bramstedt8997 yeah nothing can make up one year hiatus in a player development league. I’m sure he would already be a good top 6 player if he is not a superstar already if he got a chance to play that year. But yeah that draft did screw up a lot of ohl draftees. Only Wright and Mintyukov were from OHL and got drafted in the first round in 2022.
Bill Armstrong was part of a Blues staff that drafted really well for years. Now that he has (hopefully) competent ownership behind him in Utah, I expect him to build a strong team
Yeah I'm a Habs fan but I hope for the best for Wright. I don't know if it's on their minds at all but I enjoy the Slafkovsky/Wright rivalry, I think it'll be really cool to watch who the better player was when it's all said and done.
It's better he was drafted anywhere but Montréal, whether he realizes it or not. Our media and fans would have destroyed his already not prepared mental state. There's no chance he'd be under the radar if he was playing in Laval, and he demonstrated how he deals with things not going his way when his name was called at four. I hope it works out for him, but I'm extremely glad for all of us that he won't be finding out wearing the "CHC".
Seattle fans don't care about Slafkoski at all, it's a weird one way hate. Habs fans hate Wright because it's not the guy their team picked, Seattle fans don't care because Shane was the best available player at 4
I'm a Habs fan and wanted the Habs to draft him until I saw an interview he gave about 2 weeks before the draft where he said: "I deserve to be drafted number 1" and this completely turned me off of him. Didn't like that entitlement at all. Especially not for a market like MTL.
I was all in on Wright, until i saw him play against the Colts, He did not stand out, slow and no flash, very disappointed when i left. Hughes by far picked the right player.
Same thing, I remember thinking the Habs couldn't go wrong with Wright as the safe choice, but when I saw that interview, combined with the fact he clearly wasn't a generational talent, I immediately started hoping for either Slaf or Cooley.
I was never sold on Shane Wright. Watched some of his highlight reels and I didn't like the way he would backcheck. Was non existent unless he had the puck on his blade. Cooley on the other hand, had tons of speed, would backcheck, had great hands but was small. Didn't know much about Slavkovsky. Glad the Habs were on top of it.
I watched Shane Wright closely when he came with Coachella to Calgary. He reminded me of Joe Sakic (when he was a rookie in Quebec) in that he wasn't flashy but he did a lot of good things, kept his head down and worked. If Shane can approach Joe's record Seattle should be pretty pleased.
Sakic is one of the greatest players of all time... If Shane becomes a tenth of a player Sakic was then he will be a solid top 6'er in the NHL... And that would no bust of a career for him... But Joe was no ordinary Joe, and good luck seeing the likes of him or Stevie Y again any time soon! Talent, character, grit, workhorse, winner... That's a complete package that only a couple a generation can live up to!
@Banhof-h5uim so glad we are out of the steroid brother era ( Bergevin and Timmins) of drafting in montreal , and Bob Gainey before was horific with the drafting also
Haven't watch Wright play but when Slaf 2.0 showed up late November I had my answers. Habs are going to be a speedy, crafty, puck possesing team and Slaf will continue to be a monster out there.
When he gave the Montreal table the stink eye as he walked past to the stage, I knew then that he wasn't going to be the special player so many thought he would be. Character is at least as important as physical skill.
Same could be said about Brady. He did all but give the other teams a stink eye and made them figure it on the field. Wright has the same energy but does it physically. Wouldn’t discount his potential just yet. Edit: I did mention 2 different sports but I hope you saw the point I was trying to make
All that did was show he does have character it's the guys who go up and give their scripted fucking interviews and can't show any personality or be authentic. That's character not being a puppet for the nhl
@@srange1342but that scripted interview guy was Wright....all he ever did was say what he thought NHL teams wanted to hear....he never seemed authentic or even like he was being pushed by other player. He had a scenario in his mind and that was set in stone. He did more PR than any other player and that ended up costing him. The habs management group has been hashing the same words for 3 drafts now....confidence not arrogance. They passed on Michkov because of it and passed on Wright because of it. Finally, if that staredown was really a show of character, why didn't he make the NHL out of the draft? As the concensus 1st OA, he should have been ready? Yet, the team that drafted him decided to send him back to the AHL. That doesn't sound like a show of character from him. Now, I will admit, he did a lot of work on himself and seem much better now. His potential is still there and if he can fix his arrogance (not confidence) he will be a legit high end 2nd line center or a 1B with Beniers or Catton.
I wonder if Hakstol's treatment of Wright was one of the factors in Seattle management firing him. The new coach is very familiar with Wright as he was the head coach at the AHL team Wright played with last year.
I thought Seattle did wright dirty his “rookie” season. Maybe he wasn’t ready and that’s fine but there was I believe a 3 game stretch where his family was flew in and the kept him scratched the 3 games. I get him not being ready, I get keeping him scratched a first to learn the system, players, coach etc. but knowing the kids family was flew in for 3 games to watch there son in the nhl with there own eye and STILL keep him scratched is dirty in my eyes
I wanted Slaf, not Wright and it was very easy to see why if you watched Shane's OHL playoffs. His team down by two goals with half a game to play and he wouldn't back check. This happened over and over. I was relieved they didn't take him.
Shane dodged a bullet not being the #1 pick for Montreal. the fans and the media were harsh on Slafkovsky, who had a bad first year and his second was going to be even worst until Marty St-Louis finally put him on the first line. basically saved his development. but you can't have 2 centers on the first line and Suzuki will probably never play on the second line ever again.
Habs fan here, I think Wright will be a consistent 70-80 pt. guy in the NHL. A solid two-way center. Problem for the Habs was, they already have that guy in Nick Suzuki. That's why they went with Slafkovsky.
lots of habs fans were excited about the pick, i dont remember any booing at all, lots of cheering actually. I know me and and my friends all wanted slafkovsky, so not sure where you got your info, also the wright stare down was while he got on the stage not off. clearly he as an attitude problem and lots of scouts commented on that character flaw. i personally wish him all the best, but im happy montreal took slaf, he's getting better and better and cant wait until he reaches his ceiling in a few years, especially with that team friendly contract.
Wright is still developing. It depends if he wants to have a career with Seattle or another team. The only way I could see Seattle c9nsider moving Wright is if they got a big piece in return,a top line center or maybe an upgrade in goal.
I'd love it if my team could lure Wright away from the Krakken. He's very desirable. Its unfortunate he had to go to Seattle and Hakstol. A different team would have got us to a different point today. I'm very interested in the Slaf, Cooley, Wright play this season
7:58 reminder that was his second OHL team, the reason he got healthy scratched a bunch in October was because his first OHL team was horrible (finished third from last) so the Kraken kept him with the pro coaches till he was trade to the spitfire (a heavy favor to win the championship) before they were upsetted. The Kraken were actually really smart that first year balancing all of the limits on how many games he could play in the NHL, AHL, and OHL. They missed him being eligible for the Calder this year by 2 games because he played 8 NHL games this season.
The first exceptional kid to play in the OHL at 14 years of age was Bobby Orr in 1962-63. For reference: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Orr. I understand that the CHL has formalized the process in recent years but let's not forget about that. At 14, Bobby was playing against men that were 18 to 20 years of age.
Watched him play for the Frontenacs many times and his hockey IQ and shot was head and shoulders about everyone else. I think the fact that hearing he was going to be the number one overall for many years and then not being selected first really did something to his confidence. Nothing is given it is earned. I would love to see what he can do with a full season this year.
5 goals in 16 NHL games with a coach who jerked him around and wouldn’t give him regular playing time. He’s got a new coach and will get a boatload of minutes, he’ll be fine.
NHL 'ice-time' is something that needs to be earned. Shane Wright is on the right path for getting himself there. He just needs a few more games of NHL experience to re-find his reason for being there. I think he will , eventually.
Shane might hit the NHL this year or it might be in 2 more. But when he does he’ll be a solid top 6 contributor. Probably a Lafreniere point total. A 55-60 point guy. Which is totally acceptable for top 6. Not what they wanted but it’s a good hockey player.
The more i look at Wright and Slafkovsky development and character...the more i thank Kent Hugues and the new scouting and analytic team of the Montréal Canadiens ! Nick Bobrov said it best for Slafkovsky...his level of pressure is that of a country and the proof is in the pudding. It was in his character to be competitive. Shane Wright on the other end, he doesn't seems to have the same level of competition or character. His development is staling and he most do something soon to rectify it, or the label or bust will begin to be associated with him. That stare at the draft...if it really was at the Montréal table, it was really childish and just confirmed the perfect pick for Montréal ! I want the best for him, cause Seattle deserve 2 good center, but it's this year it must change !
I think it's a little early to call anyone in that draft a bust... Shane is real talented and intelligent player as the narrator of the video said but it was clear he needed time to develop and mature- which he is doing like all young men... I think in a few years it will reveal who won that draft and my bet is on the Krakens cause Shane is a special player and though i think they both are going to have a good career for their team i think Shane will ultimately will be seen as the real steal of the draft! Both got all-star potential though!
Your ignorance wrt Shane’s development is obvious. It’s ok to love your pick but to make a whole bunch of baseless assumptions seems to be a common thing with Habs fans. The stare was nothing. Shane even debunked it.
@@krakenspectacor He wasn't wrong though (except for the bust part as it's too soon for statements like these). Wright DID stare at the Mtl's draft table. When it appeared in newspapers and on net and he was asked about it, he didn't know what to say so he made up a story about actually staring at journalists. And that made it even worse (and laughable) as it was clear he was just looking for (poor) excuses. Like sh*t happens. It's always better to own your mistakes and learn from them than to pretend they didn't happen and look for excuses. It would have been less of a deal had he just owned that he f****d up and moved on...
Never understood all the hate around Shane Wright, obviously he is not McDavid / Crosby ., but he is going to be a solid #2 / #1 center for the kraken for many years to come
As a Habs fan, it annoys me sometimes to see Habs fans praying for Wright's downfall. It's really petty. Are we really that offended that he stared down our GM? I hope the kid does well. That being said, next season is make-or-break for him if he wants to be a top 6 contributor in the NHL. He needs to at least be a full-time NHLer playing in the middle 6. There's a clear path to him being Seattle's 2C and I hope he's able to seize the opportunity. It's great that he killed it in Coachella but high-end prospects like him shouldn't languish in the AHL for too long. Minor nitpick about Slaf: I think he would have been expected to be the #1 winger going forward, but selecting Demidov should change that. I think Demidov is likely to be the highest scoring player on the team by his third season. Slaf should be the #2 guy, or maybe the #3 depending on what Caufield does.
Absolutely agree about the first part, Wright remains a high end center that will be one of the top 2nd line centers in the league. 30 goals 30 assist with a good 200 foot game....he just needs to find his will to win in the playoffs. As for slaf and demidov, it doesnt really matter which is 1st and which is second....they will 100% be one of the most lethal duo in the league. Their skill sets are soooo complementary and if this season was any indication, slaf will be able to follow demidov's plays on the ice. I think we will have a lot of slaf goals assisted by Demigod (dov) and a lot of Demidov's goals assisted by Slaf. I know I am exctatic to see them play together in a few yeara.
@kevinpelletierdeslauriers7709 wright demonstrated a will to win in the playoffs this season. He was over a point per game player, easily played the best when he was on the ice, and in particular wad dominate in the cup finals for the ahl
I'm a Habs fan who totally bought into the Shane Wright hype train but when I heard him say he deserved to be drafted number 1 in a late interview before the draft I totally soured on him. And the death stare he gave the Habs drafting table that day totally confirmed my apprehensions about him. He may be a great player but he's not fit for Montreal.
Man, you would have hated Roy... He gave the death stare to any and everyone in his way. As arrogant as MJ- and a winner to back it all up... People either loved or hated him but if he played on your team you loved the confidence and success he brought to every organization he was involved in- playing and elsewhere... Yet the Habs hated him despite the cups he helped get them... And that is why you guys have never won since "The Trade"...
@@julienbeaudry-tardif7982 😆 you just watch. You need to realize that he missed a year and a half of hockey because of Covid when the OHL shut down . He’s coming on .
Shane will be alright and a long career, I don't have the same confidence in long careers for Euro players. Just remember the b/s surrounding Hall and Seguin, 14 yrs later they are the top 2 points leaders of the 2010 draft.
Looking at slafkovsky like Jack hughes, it's not unreasonable to say he could be a 100, if not 110 point player one day. Most likely 80-90 points thought.
There was no Shane Wright Sweepstakes and especially after not playing for one of his draft years. He was just the clear #1 pick at the time like Nolan Patrick and Nico Hischier. He was never a franchise or generational talent and he's developing just fine. The only reason he's taking a bit longer is because the Seattle Kraken managed him poorly. He's done an amazing job in the CHL and AHL since getting drafted and will make the NHL this year. He's still on track to being a top center barring injuries.
The kind of hype that comes out every year made me initially skeptical of Celebrini. When you consider 4 of the past 12 1st overall picks have been MacKinnon McDavid, Matthews, and Bedard, me calling Celebrini "average" for the spot is actually a giant compliment.
Please do a breakdown of Sean day. That is a weird career what if. He was granted exceptional status in the ohl but was drafted 5th overall. *or Logan coture vs John Tavares
The problem today is fans seem to expect an 18 yo to play immediately in the NHL and that rarely happens. He’s 20, he needed some work, big deal. Let’s see what he does his first full season in the NHL before calling him a bust 🙄
I spoke with my son's hockey coach who is also happens to be an associate director for player development in one of the NHL's teams. I asked him about why some kids make Brick and Quebec Invitational teams, killing it in CHL/NCAA, get 1st round pick and then fail. He said that there are few factors, but the biggest one is ego. A lot of those kids just got used to special treatment on their previous teams. If you're a "Brick kid", you play top minutes, wearing a "C", playing national team sometimes, but it's all against the kids mostly your age. And then you switch to playing with different level of players, where stakes are higher, and 99% of those kids are 3rd line at best and playing 10-12 min a game. A lot of them have a hard time dealing with that. So this guy works with drafted players or young prospects in our area and preparing them, especially mentally to transition to the NHL. I feel like Wright fits into the similar bucket where he was on track to be the next generational talent, didn't work out, got a big dip, but it seems like he's going to be just fine. It doesn't matter how you start it matters how you finish.
If this magic man is such a hockey savant with his own crystal ball then why doesn't he create a vlog and put out his draft predictions of the makes and busts- since he can peg them on the way in... I'm sure an NHL team would hire him as their chief draft scout in no time flat... But for everyone else the reason why most great expectation lottery picks fail is that no one knows until they prove something in the NHL... Until then any professional worth their salt will admit it's a coin toss and no one knows who's going to pop and who's going to pit- like popcorn... So maybe it is this guy's arrogance he's recognizing in Wright, and that plagues his career, too, which explains why he's working in the minors despite his potential prospecting prowess and understand of the game...
People acting like Wright not going 1st overall after all the build-up must mean he's some kind of bust. Meanwhile I'm betting a lot of those same "fans" are the ones acting like Savoie will be a 50-goal scorer for the Oilers. This despite him being (1) smaller (2) nowhere NEAR as hyped as Wright was prior to that draft. Wright will be a difference-maker long before Savoie.
There are 2 wingers on the first line, and since slaf is a natural LW and Demidov a RW, watch them feed off each other in 2-3 years. The complementarity in their styles is insane and they will 100% be one of the most lethal duo's in the league. P.S. i get that you mean Demidov will have more points, but I wouldnt sell slaf short either.
I doubt he would of handled the pressure of playing in Montreal… Slav had the weight of his country on his back and loves the pressure this is what makes him the perfect fit
I go to Montral a lot and even seen a few Habs games... I can tell you while it's a very exciting and hockey centric city and the arena is packed and stoked as a yokel yoking an oak... I can tell you there is no more or less pressure in that city then any other- Colorado not withstanding... And as far as the arena and building i have not felt any differences in the air then any other i've been in- and i've been to a good few arenas in my lifetime... So this superstition about the reason players bust in Montreal is because of the pressure- i have not seen any evidence nor had any pressure related effects on my own body as some purport there to be there... And i think i would be able to deduce and be aware of the effects if there were- i am a rather dedicate rock climber and climbed some decent size mountains in my lifetime, no easy task and plenty of pressure up there i can tell you that much more!

Followed him very closely his draft year at the end of Kingstons season and through the playoffs. I thought FOR SURE that the Habs were going to pick him, precisely due to the hype you so very well outlined, boy was I shocked. I thought he was very unimpressive. Floater and not the great 2-way forward he was hyped to be. Uninvolved, low motor, and just wasn't a difference maker. Yet, he still managed to put up some points. But he clearly wasn't the play-driver on his team. He was actually about the 3-4th best player in the playoffs for the Fronts. I was thinking, wow, THIS is going to be our pick? So I switched to wanting Cooley, and of course, the Habs knew better than me and picked the clear best player at this point, in Slaf. IMO, Wright can be a great winger. A sniper. Still has a great release, no doubt. I just can't see him as a center. Put him with Catton, eventually, and Catton will save this dudes career. I think Catton is the real deal. Slafkovsky is beast. The sky is the limit for him.
He needs minutes. Almost missing 2 whole years of competitive hockey then bouncing from OHL to AHL to NHL is too hard. Seattle would be smart to keep him on the NHL team all year, even if he slumps
Hectic Hockey your scouting ability seems to be as good as your knowledge on NHL rules. I wouldnt hold your breath waiting to see how Wright is doing in the 2024-2025 Calder trophy race.... His ship had already sailed in 23-24 on any pipe dream chance of ever winning that trophy
I think Wright was too full of himself which is why he ultimately fell to #5. He got taken down a peg or two and his ego was bruised. Ultimately, though, if it gave him a dose of humility, it might help him in the long run.
Lmao, completely wrong. The Devils were always going to take a defenseman, and the Coyotes (now Utah) is still considered a joke franchise. They wanted Cooley all along. Seattle chose BPA
@@41italia he may be and he may not be but to declare it now is pure hubris and ignorance of how players develop and careers evolve. You do you though little guy!
I think Wright likely has a floor as an excellent 200-foot 3rd line center & the potential to be an elite 2nd line center in the NHL & an integral part of a Stanley Cup winning roster. That said, from watching him play Wright doesn't scream "franchise cornerstone" to me. He's very good at everything (I.E. on a 1-10 grade he's at least a 7.5-8 on every attribute) but top flight stars are usually ones who have multiple "10 skills" even if they're lacking in others. For example, Tkachuk is clearly a subpar NHL skater but his hands, hockey sense, compete & playmaking are all 10s & make him a superstar. However, Wright is simply very good at every skill, none of which will enable him to overpower NHL defenses.
Good informative video - but one correction I would make. Wright was not the consensus #1 overall pick at the time of the draft. Bob Mckenzie and a few others had Slaf at #1. It wasn't really an off-the-board pick as people seem to suggest.
Yeah as I said it wasn’t expected, but it wasn’t necessarily a shock. Lots of people still had Wright going 1 and at the least 3. Slaf was rising heading towards the draft.
@@HecticHockey Agree - I'm just pointing out that he wasn't the "consensus #1 overall pick" as many seem to suggest and was mentioned in this video. It was to be expected that the top 5 in this draft was gonna be a bit of a shitshow.

Most hipocrite fans in the league.😆 Wright is doing good (and he can be easily better than Beniers) and also Michkov (noithing new). And also Reinbacher... Respect the kids, they're young. Bums don't learn...
He should do fine with that skill set. The question may be how he does in the playoffs. If the NHL keeps changing the rule book every post season then smaller players aren't going to dominate.
You mentioned Montreal’s first overall selection. Why haven’t you made a video of the failures of the Montreal Canadiens? Why are you being so biased and making one only of Toronto and not the failures of other teams like Montreal? Why the double standards? Here’s something to get you started: The Montreal Canadiens, once a dominant force in the NHL, have experienced a prolonged period of decline and failure in recent years. Several key factors have contributed to their struggles: Poor draft history, particularly in failing to select Quebec-born talent with high draft picks. The team has overlooked local talent, missing out on players like Patrice Bergeron in 2003. Calamitous trades and mismanagement of players, such as trading away P.K. Subban and Max Pacioretty, have left the team with a roster of untested youngsters and gritty character players. Injuries to key players like Kirby Dach, Alex Newhook, and Christian Dvorak in the 2023-24 season severely hampered their rebuilding efforts. Lack of success in the draft and free agency, with the team failing to replace players like Phillip Danault, Tomas Tatar, and Corey Perry with comparable talent. Coaching issues, with the team struggling under head coach Dominique Ducharme, who lost the room and played a system that did not fit the team. Inability to maintain their identity after losing key players like Shea Weber, Carey Price, and Joel Edmundson in the offseason. The Canadiens' once-storied franchise has fallen on hard times, missing the playoffs in three consecutive seasons and struggling to recapture their past glory. The team's management and coaching staff will need to address these issues to return the Canadiens to their former dominance. Sooo…get working on it boy !!
Missing the playoffs for three years is pretty insignificant with the success of they’ve had recently in the postseason. They also have a very bright future with Caufield, Suzuki, Slaf, Demidov, Reinbacher etc.

Yeah I'm a Habs fan but I hope for the best for Wright. I don't know if it's on their minds at all but I enjoy the Slafkovsky/Wright rivalry, I think it'll be really cool to watch who the better player was when it's all said and done.
I’m also a Habs fan and couldn’t care less about Wright. He’s on another team like so many young guys trying to make it 😂
It's better he was drafted anywhere but Montréal, whether he realizes it or not.
Habs fans hate Wright because it's not the guy their team picked, Seattle fans don't care because Shane was the best available player at 4
We picked the best player available. Slaf is a stud
@@twoinchrpinchr6040Habs fans don’t care about Wright at all lol!!!
I'm a Habs fan and wanted the Habs to draft him until I saw an interview he gave about 2 weeks before the draft where he said:
"I deserve to be drafted number 1" and this completely turned me off of him.
Either way habs fans are delusional
You guys are fuckin crazy. I saw him play plenty of times and he was always the best on the ice.
Doug Wickenheiser was the safe pick in 1980
@Banhof-h5uim so glad we are out of the steroid brother era ( Bergevin and Timmins) of drafting in montreal , and Bob Gainey before was horific with the drafting also
Haven't watch Wright play but when Slaf 2.0 showed up late November I had my answers. Habs are going to be a speedy, crafty, puck possesing team and Slaf will continue to be a monster out there.
And then you woke up. All the Habs are going to be is a team in limbo, perpetually rebuilding year after year.
Great Video; I think Wright is gonna be a stud it's just a matter of time and patience
Edit: I did mention 2 different sports but I hope you saw the point I was trying to make
Sometimes a chip on your shoulder can be a powerful motivator. See: Michael Jordan. “And I took that personally.”
He didn't
He walked by and looked over like anyone would do
"Can't believe that you guys passed me up"
That's the look he gave them
Not a dirty look
Montreal sucks. Montreal will continue to suck with Slafkovsky.
Shane dodged a bullet not being the #1 pick for Montreal. the fans and the media were harsh on Slafkovsky, who had a bad first year and his second was going to be even worst until Marty St-Louis finally put him on the first line. basically saved his development. but you can't have 2 centers on the first line and Suzuki will probably never play on the second line ever again.
if malkin can play on the second line and Draisaitl can too then so can Suzuki
A few loudmouth idiots do not amount to “the fans and media”
You need two top centers to be a contender...
If Suzuki has to play on 2nd line Mtl will be a great team...
@@v4v819 Correct. The Carolina Hurricanes know this painfully well
Habs fan here, I think Wright will be a consistent 70-80 pt. guy in the NHL. A solid two-way center. Problem for the Habs was, they already have that guy in Nick Suzuki. That's why they went with Slafkovsky.
no one was as hyped on Shane wright more then Shane Wright himself
So excited that Hakstol is gone so Shane can get more playing time!
He was pretty hyped up. Crazy that I already forgot about him.
Exactly lol, only reason I remember who he was, was bc my fav ahl team (Hershey bears) played them in the finals and won 2 years ima. Row
That’s called a bust
@@joshkidder9147 lol he's not a bust - he's probably gonna be a middle 6 player next year. He's looked VERY good in the AHL

Wright will be a top 6 player ..however ..He will never be 6'3" and 228 lbs. !!!! Come playoff time ....I'll take the Big Man ..!!
Tbh slafkovsky gets bullied for how big he is 😂 habs fans
lots of habs fans were excited about the pick, i dont remember any booing at all, lots of cheering actually.
You done yapping?
Just a correction, Wright wasn't consensus number one pick, Bob McKenzie had Slaf in that spot.
Wright is still developing. It depends if he wants to have a career with Seattle or another team. The only way I could see Seattle c9nsider moving Wright is if they got a big piece in return,a top line center or maybe an upgrade in goal.
Here’s hoping he does as well in real life as he does on my NHL24 squad 🎉
I'd love it if my team could lure Wright away from the Krakken. He's very desirable. Its unfortunate he had to go to Seattle and Hakstol. A different team would have got us to a different point today. I'm very interested in the Slaf, Cooley, Wright play this season
great video man, i suscribe !! thank you , so happy to find this channel :)
Everyone saying Laf was a bust really better keep that same energy with this kid
Happy habs got Slafkovsky but Wright will be a great player for Seattle for a long time.
5 goals in 16 NHL games with a coach who jerked him around and wouldn’t give him regular playing time. He’s got a new coach and will get a boatload of minutes, he’ll be fine.
With my coach would jerk me around...
Love the channel man very in depth and to the point 👌
Appreciate it!
Wright really looks good. Too bad the Krakken know that they got a good one, I'd love to trade for him
Which NHL team are you the GM of?
Sometimes skill doesn’t outweigh an attitude. Staring down Montreal’s table at the draft was probably an indication of why they passed on him.
I remember when he dropped to 4th and Seattle picked him up. I hope he can make those teams regret passing on him one day
The more i look at Wright and Slafkovsky development and character...the more i thank Kent Hugues and the new scouting and analytic team of the Montréal Canadiens !
@@krakenspectacor I said "if" it really was.
@@jean-philippedoyon9904 it’s ok to admit you’re wrong.

That logan cooley highlight at the end was insane for a rookie

Teams passed on Wright for obvious
"Character" reasons. His pissed off face was seen on the big board for all the GM's to see
And I remember how irate many Montreal fans were that they didn't draft this guy.
Shane Wright will be a good player still hes just developing . Good pick for both teams
He’s going to be a star
An AHL star sure
@@julienbeaudry-tardif7982 😆 you just watch. You need to realize that he missed a year and a half of hockey because of Covid when the OHL shut down . He’s coming on .
Shane will be alright and a long career, I don't have the same confidence in long careers for Euro players. Just remember the b/s surrounding Hall and Seguin, 14 yrs later they are the top 2 points leaders of the 2010 draft.
You a racializer!!!!!!
Looking at slafkovsky like Jack hughes, it's not unreasonable to say he could be a 100, if not 110 point player one day. Most likely 80-90 points thought.
That Cooley goal 🥅 😅
Shane Wright wasn't particularly popular on draft boards. It was pretty obvious that he wasn't going 1st overall for a while.
Not the biggest deal he’s not full time last season. Still has a chance to be a star can be a huge name for the kraken
Please do a breakdown of Sean day.
That is a weird career what if. He was granted exceptional status in the ohl but was drafted 5th overall.
*or Logan coture vs John Tavares

*50pts
The problem today is fans seem to expect an 18 yo to play immediately in the NHL and that rarely happens. He’s 20, he needed some work, big deal. Let’s see what he does his first full season in the NHL before calling him a bust 🙄
Great video !
Thank you!
Under the new Kracken Coach we in "The Deep' hope that Shane can provide a solid scoring threat.....Go Kracken...Fear the Deep.
No one booed at the Habs draft pick
The crack let Shane fall through the cracks... and don't seem to want him on thier team...
Only time will tell
Hope Wright plays nHL next season
He’s gonna be strong next year. Not Slaf strong, but still good!
It's clear that Montreal made the "wright" choice.
Seattle is blowing it with how they are handling Wright. His development is crumbling under this team. Just incompetence.
They passed on Wright because of the interview, same reason why they picked Slav. Team spirit is the most important thing if you want to win.
He's been really good in the ahl(tho I've only ever seen his games against my Hershey bears )
As a habs fan, great video, but our number one expected winger will be demidov, not slaf
Seattle got a steal with him with the right development he will be a solid piece for Seattle
I should’ve bet him not going top 3 I predict it 2 weeks before 😭
I doubt he would of handled the pressure of playing in Montreal… Slav had the weight of his country on his back and loves the pressure this is what makes him the perfect fit

Wright is doing good (and he can be easily better than Beniers) and also Michkov (noithing new).
Several key factors have contributed to their struggles:
Poor draft history, particularly in failing to select Quebec-born talent with high draft picks.
@@HecticHockey they haven’t won a cup in 31 years!! So stop picking and choosing your timelines. Are you not paying attention? You’re supposed to be the hockey expert. Did you not read my entire posting? If you’re going to do a video about the failures of one team ie the Leafs why don’t you do them for the multitude of other teams in the NHL who have ALSO suffered years and years of failures? Vancouver, Buffalo, San Jose, Nashville, etc. have never won ONE cup!! St. Louis only one cup in 57 years! Washington only one cup in 50 years! NYR is an original 6 team with only four cups! Flyers no cups in 49 years! NYI no cups in 41 years!
If you want to have any kind of credibility at all, you won’t be so freaking biased and do videos of the failures of those teams and not just pick on one !! WTF is your problem??
@@HecticHockey You don’t have an answer to my question that I asked you several times, do you? Which is why did you do a video on the failures of the Toronto Maple Leafs and not similar videos of the multitude of other teams in the league who have suffered similar failures?
Why don’t you have an answer to my question Mr. Video Maker?
@@HecticHockeyheeey, I got an idea - why not do a video on the failures of the Philadelphia Flyers because their cup drought is only eight years less than the Leafs!
okay man, i do have a buffalo video coming out next week
I don't think he is a draft bust. I think he will eventually be a good player if he matures and changes his attitude.
I remember saying to my buddies who are die hard Habs fans they need to take Slafkovsky while they argued and wanted Shane Wright.. I watched the draft and when they drafted Slafkovsky I was so happy Habs management seen what I seen.. I cant beleive the Habs never selected Michkov!! They will regret that big time!! The Habs could have had Caufield, Michkov, Slafkovsky and Demidov as thete top 4 wingers!!
MEKov is small & arrogant. He'll be a very-good 1-way player. The Habs are building a confident team.
He'll be a solid 2nd-3rd liner in the NHL
Smart move by Habs to pass on him. One thing to drop from 1rst to 2nd....but from 1rst to 4th is a big drop. Dude has attitude issue.
