Do the devs even know about this? How come they never fixed it in a patch?
You're talking about the same team that never bothered to fix some of the deceased Sims in Strangetown and Veronaville.

EA tends to trash and leave their IPs once they have no use for them anymore and are on to their next “cash cow”. Sims 3 should’ve been optimized before 4 was released or before 4 got to where it is now. They don’t update their older games, especially if they’re still a fan favorite and still has huge support from players. EA sucks lmao

My sims recently adopted a kid who was pretty fugly but when she turned into a teen she was beautiful. Now I know why...
Well, toddlers mostly look hideous and it might continue to the child stage, but the features "normalize" when they get older.
Definitely had incredibly ugly toddlers and Kids who turned out the most beautiful adult sims I had. Puberty, I guess?

The second face template is also a little weird; when a female sim with that template becomes an elder her face "shrinks" in a way none of the other templates do.
Yeah, the cheeks collapse! And the male 2nd template barely changes in the elderly stage.

The second face template makes more weirdly also if it's broken from the game just like Lila Grunt's face. She testaments horrible nose to Tunk Grunt😅

In Sims 2 base game, this faces reset to the face you selected BEFORE on cas, not the Second face. Thats why jessica Picasso has the elf alternate face

I did a little research and they say it was fixed in the Seasons patch, but it was a thing back in the day apparently. I played a lot before Seasons came out and that never happened to me :O

I have to say, I'm *loving* all the sims 2 content coming out lately. It sort of missed youtube because it came before YT, but I'm so happy it's making a "comeback" into popularity thanks to this platform.
It kinda didn't, maybe for informative videos like these, but the music video community for Sims 2 was huge back then!

I recently had two Sims, neither with a broken template, have children. They had five, three of which (due to me forgetting to prevent the firstborn syndrome during two of the pregnancies) had the elf face template, despite neither parent having that face. And they kept the elf face into adulthood. This has never happened to me before.

Ah, this is so good to know about. Genetics is the most important part of the Sims 2 for me. Especially in something like a legacy challenge where the focus is on generations.

Lol I actually had kinda pointy ears Irl when I Was a child. My friends where calling me elf and shit. But they Look like normal ears this Day. I dont know why that happened but genetics ways are mysterious.

Oh my. I remember how surprised I was when my sim's and Talin Deppiesse's children grew up and their faces changed so much. So here's the reason. Great video!
Ohh my god same!! I married Talin with Brandi Broke 😂 and they had a child with 1st face template and i thought it was normal because Brandi's face is closer to that template and maybe her genes are dominant (?) but when the child grew up to YA it became exact same as Talin's, i was so annoyed. And when Talin grew up to elder his face also became 1st template. Now i know why..

I've noticed that problem with one of the child's of Jon Smith Tricou (the one with the facepaint and black clothes) he looks like the first template when he is a teenager, but as soon as he grows up into an adult, he looks... Uglier 😂
I was really surprised when you said that the Picaso family is broken, because my children are totally fine, they don't have different face template. I think that maybe this was fixed in Ultimate Collection or something because my children are fine. They have some features from their mom that were right away visible when I aged them up to toddlers.

Toddlers aren't very good to read facial features from. Check when they're teenagers.

Ehhh... Pointy ears are from 26th template. 21th and 25th templates for other ages are randomly connected to 2nd OR 26th template. So that's why Picaso's kids can get pointy ears. Nothing special, it can happen with other Sims with broken faces

@@fatymah1138 Well there are so many actions that cause glitches, bugs, corruption, etc. Even basic things you can actually legitimately do _in game_ can cause massive corruption, like deleting Sims from the family bin or deleting lots that had SIms visit them.
A great deal of it had to do with Sim information: messing with the special NPC's like Mrs. Crumplebottom were the most famous ways, but tiny things were everywhere, like not letting a Sim smash an Urn, or putting Urns on OFB lots.
importing Sims that were exported after being played in the game was one of the worst, since it introduced multitudes of incomplete Sim character data files into the neighborhoods formed of the remnants of Sims those imported Sims knew.
I love the game, but . . . it's a mess of technical engineering.

Ooooh spooky things about the sims 2 for spooky October ??? heck yeah!
These old Sims faces are so odd to look at closely like this because the face specifically is colored so oddly. I know back in the day of early 3D, people shaded in black all the time, and that's part of it. But there's some weird yellow-grey-green happening in the facial area. Even just looking at the face preview thumbnails. It makes such a weird harsh skintone change that starts like, right above the eyebrows. On Sims with darker skin tones, it almost looks like they're wearing foundation that's too light. Though honestly it seems worse in CAS than in actual gameplay.
Yeah, I have replacements for those broken faces and they're easy to find because they have refreshed thumbnails and the lighting is completely different 😅 Same for custom ones
literally all my sims look the same because the only cute/normal ones are the 1st two and the last one
Orion and Tiave Teens have BROKEN FACE. But, some sims simply have...customed face, or face built out of different templates.

Jessica Picaso's template is derived from one of the adult female templates in the Create a Sim bin which is a slightly edited version of the 25th face template but is linked to the 26th face template for other life stages instead of the 2nd face template.
Also I think you forgot the part where the broken face templates are linked to the adult versions of the 2nd face template (except the female base template has slightly harder features than usual) instead of the elder versions.

Joshua can't be fixed, so either stop the pregnancy or just live with it :D
I know this was a year ago so a bit late, but if you are using MeetMe’s clean templates, Joshua has been fixed (and so has anyone else with a broken face template) so it would be fine! If you use Argon’s fix and clean templates, then anyone previously made is fine and anyone newly generated is also fine. It’s just a shame that it was never fixed in the actual game.

You can get the fix in the description! Its the same face but fixed (or search the default database)
were u tried change Jessica Picaso ears by right-click other face shape? did her ears was semi-pointed or it was recognized by the game as a complitly new shape and as a child she had normal ears?

My Picasso family screws up my game. I once moved them into a home and my game freaked out and wouldn’t let me save. Sooo, I am really afraid of playing them 😂
Joshua Ruben also creates elf-ear children if they get his ears:(. It looked so bad I had to use SimBlender to perform plastic surgery on the toddler.
And yes I was going to say that first face template is Hal Capp. I was quite surprised when he aged to young adulthood because he had been a fairly attractive teen. He looks unfortunate as an adult. Good to know that he will get his original face back when he is an elder.
Hal's adult face is technically his "original face" 😆 And Joshua has the frog face which means not only the ears are broken.

Wow I made the Picasso's a baby when I didn't know this but when I most recently played Sims 2 in my adult life and their weird daughter came out EXACTLY like your example child.
What about the 2nd face template when it is shown as an elder, cause that face looks terrible...

So does the game internally store separate facial structures for each age? How come everything works well if I mold a head in Body Shop? I can add a fraction of each archetype and grow up/down without apparent distortion.
You don't need Body Shop to do that, actually. Just right-click on templates in CAS. And I'm pretty sure there IS distortion if you blend templates, just less visible when you only use a fraction of it.
And yes, obviously the game has to have different face files for each age because they're all built differently.
Oh my god! I have never tried right-clicking the portraits, or at least enough times to notice the effect. It works!
You are right, if I add the Sla or Per (slavic, peru?) face parts, they change when switching to child or elder. I didn't notice it before because child faces are similarly rounded, and elders are rare. I found some teen downtownies who appear as Base, but then grow up as Indian in adult, and the grow back into Base again as elder. This match is good in the present game, but apparrently incorrectly copied into the characters.
The way graphics files get linked together is perplexing. I only do code modding.
I think having the elven ears revealed in a child could be incorporated into a story, especially if the child gets an extreme personality and a boost from smart milk.

The question is off topic, but if anyone knows why, when I installed the sims 2, the sims in the cas shine so that you can hardly see their faces. I don't have any in-game mods that could cause this. Help
If you haven't already, try installing Graphics Rules Maker.
yeah, it's graphics card problem actually.... I have PC with two and I just switched from integrated graphics to Nvidia and it fixed it...but if u have one I thing the Graphic rule maker could help...
If you look up Sims2help on Reddit there is a whole thread while graphic rules marker worked for me it can be a little confusing to use (at least for me) so as an alternative there is also a cheat that you can type in to get rid of the brightness.
I would like to ask a question off topic. If I use custom sliders in the game, creating a sim in a town for download, will they keep their faces when exporting? Do I need to add the slider files in a separate folder for other players?

If they get the features, then yes. It doesn't have to be the whole face, it can only be one part from a broken template, like Priya Ramaswami only has a broken nose. She could pass it down to multiple generations and it will always be broken.
I remember the bad suprises I had when I chose a nice townie child or teen to grow up and to marry with my sims…and then he grew up like this 😂

They go to Downloads! If there are two versions, read the instructions. All mods listed in the description can be used all at once.
@@Marticore , I dropped the fix into "Downloads", but the game doesn't seem to recognize it (I mean the list with all the mods before the main menu, the fix doesn't show up there)... I play 100 babies challenge and I made my matriarch pregnant with a sim who has a broken face. By the way, my matriarch is Malcolm Landgraab's daughter, so I can't even imagine how ugly the kids will turn out.
