Do you mean that your laptop has run vr games before without a y issue and now it'd not working? Is it on all games or just one in particular? I'd recommend making sure everything is up to date. Your gpu and cpu drivers, the oculus app, windows, your headset.

For true resolution, select 1.7 render resolution, image needs to be rendered larger than the screen to accommodate barrel distortion. Other wise at 1.0 the image will not be as crisp as it can. This is different than over sampling
@@MyTechGearGaming indeed , its against common sense and not too well known. That the headset actually needs more pixels than the screens, in order to do its magic. Rendering at 1.0 is actually like running 1080p on a 4k display Its pretty amazing the difference

PCVR just means that the game runs on your PC rather than the headset. Your headset just acts as a monitor. So, you can't all use the same PC, but you can connect with all your friends online playing in the same game as you normally would. Hope that answers your question.

Great tutorial. Good to know what's possible. I found this video while researching a possible upgrade from my existing HTC Vive and extensive SteamVR library (54 games and counting). It's good to know I wouldn't necessarily have to repurchase all those games for the Quest 2. One minor bit of feedback; consider setting up and using that nice desktop microphone for this kind of voice-over work, so it doesn't come across with so much echo! Great content though!

Hi Robert. Not sure what you're talking about here as I haven't heard of anything like that before. Is it appearing on all screens as an overlay? Did googling provide any successful resolutions for you? Did you manage to resolve it?
Great content. I'd suggest better audio settings for your clips like a compressor or sound treatment for your room. Very cheap on wish or Amazon. The sound isn't terrible but if you wanna UP your game, try those out. Keep up the good work.
VR question. do you buy the cheapest oculus quest 2 with 128gb and some how use the pc storage instead? also use pc graphics card instead and just use oculus quest 2 as a vr dummy headset
With a Quest 2 VR headset you can either run games standalone on the headset, which will store the games on your headset and so use up the storage on your headset...or, you can connect the headset to a VR capable PC and then play PCVR games where the games are then stored on the PC and not the headset. Hope that clears that up for you and makes sense.

You need to keep your Quest connected to the PC as the game actually runs on the PC, the Quest is just a monitor in this case. However, you could use something like air link or virtual desktop to connect to your PC wirelessly from your headset if your local wifi is good enough. I've done a few videos on this as well so check them out for more info. Hope that all helps.

You do need to get the oculus app and headset to rexognise each other. Once you've set it up though you won't need the cable again if you're going wireless with air link or virtual desktop.
If you download a game on the PC on either the oculus rift store or the Steam Store then it is downloaded, installed, and runs, on your PC. If you buy a game from the quest store, either from the headset or the web store, then it is installed and runs on your headset.

If you want to play a game standalone on the quest headset then you need to purchase it on the quest store. If you want to play PC VR games using your quest then you only need to buy it on your PC VR store, not your quest as well. If you want to play both ways, then you would need to buy it twice, unless it's a cross-buy game available on both the rift and Quest stores in which case you can buy it once and play it both ways. My oculus app on pc connected perfectly with my quest 2 except when I put my credit back on it doesn’t take me to the steamvr lobby, and the only way to get there is if I use airlink. How can I fix it?
I wouldn't expect you to as when playing PCVR the sound gets diverted to your headset instead. If you get no sound on your PC after disconnecting your headset then make sure that the default speaker on your PC is set back to whatever you want it to be.

No you can't. They're different stores. If you'd bought population one for oculus rift in the Oculus store, then you could have got it for free on the quest as it's a cross-buy game across both oculus platforms. Probably not the answer you wanted, but I hope it helps.
You have 3 options to play PC VR games on your quest. Wired over a Cable. Wirelessly using Air Link. Or wirelessly using Virtual Desktop. I've done user guides on all 3 so have a watch and decide which one you want to use.

Yes, you need a PC. For PC VR games it is your PC that is running the game, not the quest headset. The headset is just acting like a monitor to your PC. So you will need a VR capable PC. Specs were gone through in the video.

I'm having problems running PCVR games on my Quest 2. I access SteamVR through the headset and it pulls up my games. I'll try loading up a game like Borderlands 2 just to get audio but no video of Borderlands 2 running on my headset. It'll run on my PC. Do I need to buy virtual desktop? I have a desktop icon when using my headset that allows me to access my desktop.
You can either use a cable to connect to your PC, or you could connect wirelessly using Virtual Desktop. Oculus have recently released Air Link too which also allows you to play PC VR games wirelessly..and it's free! I've just released a video on how to set that up. Hope that helps.

Is there a way where you can connect straight into Steam VR, without having to do into the Oculus App first?
You don't run stream vr from the oculus app. You do need to run it from the virtual desktop on your headset when it's connected to the PC though.

Quest 2 straight to USB 3.0 port on the motherboard is fine. I do the same thing. Just make sure it's a USB 3.0 or higher data cable too.

No. The storefront is different but when you actually play the game it’s still the same PC game running on your PC.

If you want to play PC VR games using your quest then you only need to buy it on your PC VR store, not your quest as well. If you want to play both ways, then you would need to buy it twice, unless it's a cross-buy game available on both the rift and Quest stores in which case you can buy it once and play it both ways. My oculus app on pc connected perfectly with my quest 2 except when I put my credit back on it doesn’t take me to the steamvr lobby, and the only way to get there is if I use airlink. How can I fix it?
After connecting the headset, I couldn't hear any sounds on my PC.
I wouldn't expect you to as when playing PCVR the sound gets diverted to your headset instead. If you get no sound on your PC after disconnecting your headset then make sure that the default speaker on your PC is set back to whatever you want it to be.
Do you specifically need a nividea graphics card or can you use a different one?

Ive bought all my games on steam. But can i download lets say The population 1 version for quest standalone to my quest 2 but not have to pay for it again? Since i already bought it on steam?
No you can't. They're different stores. If you'd bought population one for oculus rift in the Oculus store, then you could have got it for free on the quest as it's a cross-buy game across both oculus platforms. Probably not the answer you wanted, but I hope it helps.

You have 3 options to play PC VR games on your quest. Wired over a Cable. Wirelessly using Air Link. Or wirelessly using Virtual Desktop. I've done user guides on all 3 so have a watch and decide which one you want to use.

This may be a dumb question but do you need an actual PC? Like the whole set up and everything? All I have is a Mac and I honestly have not a clue on how to set up a PC the way some of these guys do lol
Yes, you need a PC. For PC VR games it is your PC that is running the game, not the quest headset. The headset is just acting like a monitor to your PC. So you will need a VR capable PC. Specs were gone through in the video.

Not long. If it's hanging then I'd suggest trying a different cable or USB port on your PC.

No. You connect to your PC from the quest headset. So, whilst the game runs on the PC, you are seeing it and playing it on your quest headset. So no, you don't need to be at the PC.
I'm having problems running PCVR games on my Quest 2. I access SteamVR through the headset and it pulls up my games. I'll try loading up a game like Borderlands 2 just to get audio but no video of Borderlands 2 running on my headset. It'll run on my PC. Do I need to buy virtual desktop? I have a desktop icon when using my headset that allows me to access my desktop.
Do you need virtual desktop, doesn’t cost money. Also, can you just load steam from from your desktop irl
You can either use a cable to connect to your PC, or you could connect wirelessly using Virtual Desktop. Oculus have recently released Air Link too which also allows you to play PC VR games wirelessly..and it's free! I've just released a video on how to set that up. Hope that helps.
My pc is more than powerful enough to run the games but I'm getting a black screen on Star Wars Squadrons do you know what the cause of this could be? The game loads and everything goes dark with a small "close" off in the distance. Thanks!
It's worth checking that your oculus app on your PC and your quest headset itself are up to date with the latest firmware.
