The Old Man of Hoy and Midhowe Broch were two of the most incredible places we have ever visited (the hike at Hoy was in our top 5 hikes of ALL time!). We wish we could do this magical place justice with our filming but I think it is truly a place you must visit to truly get a sense of the beauty. What do you think - would you travel over 36 hours for the view?

Great video of Hoy and Rousay. The entire north of Scotland is an incredible place. You nailed the "feel" of the place with the comment about having no anxiety there. We are retiring there in about 5 years.

This video is my favorite of all your productions so far. I started watching your channel when I was researching the Camino Santiago and really enjoyed all of the videos. You shared your highs and lows and showed how hard it can be. You also shared your spiritual and physical growth along the way. This video also shared your love of place and a personal connection that seemed authentic and spiritual and calming. The video showed outstanding landscapes and the music went with it so well. It's really a beautiful peace of work to watch. Thanks for making it and sharing it with the world.

If you come to back to Orkney, next time:
Visit Sanday, and the dunes by Newark beach.
    Westray puffins in season.
Visit Julia’s shed in stromness, she does the best bacon sandwich in Orkney.
Walk to the gloup and around brough of deerness to see a vista of the Orkney islands.
Still so much to see and do. I’m glad you had a wonderful time and hope you come back someday. Your fantastic footage helps showcase some of the best of Orkney, thank you for helping the islands.

Hey guys! That drone footage was cinematic! So beautiful ❤ and I just loved the story of Betty. What a tragic old story that somehow feels relevant to our times. 😢

Always good to see people enjoying the homeland 😊 I grew up on Rousay, my mother, three sisters and a niece still live there. I was never fond of boats, so I moved south to just outside Edinburgh, but I do take a trip back every few years.

@@vanhallaadventures I was lucky to have worked on a site on Westray, just over 12 years ago. I managed to have a couple of days, after the dig had finished, when I was able to go for a wee adventure. I saw as much as I could. I need to get away from the day job, and go back to Orkney.

Really enjoyed your video. Your day on Hoy reminded me of the two weeks we had on Orkney in May. I think the weather was kind to you, we had a very windy time, even though the locals told us we needed to be there in Winter for the true experience. I’ll be subscribing 😊

You make exceedingly good videos! Thanks for an enjoyable few hours as I have been bingeing.
Since the weather has been generally so kind to you, it would be a valuable public service to tell the rest of us when you will next visit Scotland and/or its islands as, clearly, it's a good bet you control the weather....

The Orkney Islands are absolutely beautiful & totally fascinating! Just breathtaking! That was such a tragic story about Betty & how she took her own life because the 'religious' people rejected her & made her an outcast! So typical of 'religious hypocrites' who should have loved her, but instead rejected & alienated her & so callously would not allow her to be buried in the "parish" graveyard. Little did Betty know that she was in good company! Jesus had the same problem in His day. It was the 'religious hypocrites' who kept hounding him & then incited a mob to kill Him, even though He was totally innocent, did only good & spoke of peace & love. Mainly because He spoke the Truth & pointed out their 'religious' hypocrisy. The Bible tells us that Jesus told them when they judged & condemned others "He who is without sin cast the first stone." Consequently they all had to walk away!! However, then they hated Him even more for revealing the truth about their callous, hypocritical hearts.
It is sad to see that things have not changed throughout the centuries with 'religiosity.' The fact is, Jesus would not have condemned Betty, but accepted, welcomed & loved her & so would the true followers of Jesus. Those who would not are not His true followers. As Jesus also clearly stated in His Word "By this shall all men know that you are My true followers, if you have love for one another." Indeed! It is 'religious 'hypocrites,' just using the Name of Christ through the years that have given Christianity a bad name & have turned people away from the Truth, & from Jesus & the God who truly loves them. How tragic indeed! As He also said to the 'religious' hypocrites' "No wonder they speak badly about the kingdom of God because of you." Indeed! Thank you for your compassion & respect for Betty's memory & visiting her lonely resting place. May Betty & the precious child she was carrying Rest In Peace & never be lonely again. Thank you also for sharing your fascinating & beautiful adventure in the Orkney Isles. Blessings to you both!
