    Love the cows all running after you to see what you were up to, or maybe looking for food! Cows do that, nosy creatures -- what a great photo opportunity.

      Ha ha nosy is the word. They are hilarious! Thanks

    Thanks to all who report on these outlying places. A marvelous way to get there for those who don't do long walkies, wild summits, or real force nines. 😀

    The sand dunes are on cata sand, and the dunes are called the broken banks.
    Grew up here and learned to swim in cata sand after barbecues.

      Its a beautiful place from the perspective of a visitor for sure. I'd say you were very lucky.

    What a lovely wee video, I travel from the Scottish Borders to visit my nephew on Sanday and it was great to see places I know, I even saw his house and the Fire Station where he works as a Firefighter, just one of his many jobs on the island 😊

    Those cows came over for some petting. If i've ever seens cows in a field they always seem keen to come straight over so you can stroke their noses, maybe hand feed them some grass too.

      Is that true? I've never considered petting a cow before, but there are cows near home so I may try that now you have said it.

      @@OnTheMovewithPete The ones i've seen yes :) . They always seem really friendly and they'll come over in groups if there's a few of them. Even though they already have access to the grass they'll still eat it out of your hand as though you are bringing them something extra tasty. I get a hand full of grass and hold it on my flattened palm and they'll take it.

    There is another incredible beach on the north west of Sanday. And of course there is a great lighthouse to visit on the east side near to where you were.

      Thanks Michael for that. Hopefully I will go back one day to explore more.

    I am a Sanday resident. Not owned by the NT, that might be the other Sanday. You picked a rare good day; come back and visit when the boat is rolling around in February, a very different experience ;-)

    The shop you pull into is not Sinclairs Stores; that's the other one on the island. The one you pull in at is Sanday Community Shop in Lady.

      Hi, thank you for the correction. I didn't know that. That's the stores next to a fuel filling station is that right?

    • @stevekeren21
      @stevekeren21 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OnTheMovewithPete yes, the store in Lady (the one you pull up to) is Sanday Community Shop. The larger store (not featured in your piece) is Sinclairs :-)

    (and it's "Orkney" or "the Orkney Isles", never, ever, ever "The Orkneys", just so you know for other voiceovers! )😉
