- Welcome everybody! A few weeks ago, the 2024 WEC entrylist was announced, and while we found a lot of new entries in the Hypercar class unfortunately 2 cars that raced last season will NOT race in 2024, Glickenhaus, and the one that we will be talking about today, Vanwall.

Colin Kolles is a Motorsports enthusiastic dentist who throughout his entire career has never gotten any return of investment. The fact that he's still around is a miracle.
I mean, hardly a miracle. He’s getting plenty of funding from….somewhere…
It's been rumoured since like forever that it's just a money laundering operation.
They have done the absolute minimum to be in the series, and they only used one chassis before hypercar.
The Vanwall is supposed to be a new chassis, but there are several places the "new" chassis look identical to their old one.
@@CelciusifyYou mean its a repurposed chassis or a brand new one thats an evolution of the old one? Cause I dont see something bad with the evolution thing...
@@FonikosGazmas Their LMP1 chassis was from 2014, and was used until the end of the LMP1 era (2020). *The* *same* *chassis* , not the same model. I belive they're alone in having used a chassis for so long.
For Hypercar LMP1 chassis was supposed to be outlawed, meaning an entire new design had to be made. And the car passed these tests.
But if you look at the roofline of the Vanwall, it's quite similar to the old CLM P1 chassis. With the same wide bulkhead where the suspension is mounted.
So they've used the same chassis for 6-7 years, and if the Vanwall uses the same chassis it's atleast 10 years old...
@@Celciusify By that you mean the design is 10 y/o and not the chassis? Cause I dont have a problem if the design is 10 y/o as long as it can be competitive like Toyota (GR010 design is a modified TS050 design, almost 7 y/o). Otherwise if they are rebodying the same chassis since 2014 thats really F d up.
It's also worth mentioning that Vanwall tried to change engines right before the 2024 WEC entry was unveiled. That required re-homologation. That combined with the customer Ferrari, the WEC chose them over Vanwall
True, but the change was confirmed the same day that the entrylist got announced, so that’s why I didn’t include it
Let's see 2025 hopefully or who cares if they still not return
And the funniest part is that Vanwall actually never finished ahead of the lmp2 field
Not even once? I knew they were bad but I never realized they were that bad 😂
Blame Aston Martin for the engine spec
@@Skywalker1274 isotta is better in my book
An equivilent would be Isotta Fraschini, and they had WAY less problems getting approval for LMH.
The quality of management is super important...
I feel like they brought back Villeneuve for the publicity of it. ooh look there's an ex F1 champion, and he's racing for Colin Kolles!
And they sacked him right be fore Le Mans while he was away attending his spouse giving birth.
Oh I didn’t realise that. I already didn’t have a good impression of Colin, but what an unnecessarily mean move
To all respect. The rule to have a „brand“ name is absolutely dumb. It would be absolute fine to enter as ByKolles. But that whole „you have to have a brand name as team name“ was the reason that started this drama.
So FIA really wants no Private teams. Just proper works teams with brands like Porsche, Ferrari, Toyota etc.
I agree with you here, kind of a stupid rule
That is correct. They want MANUFACTURERS. If you don't like it, don't watch.
@@williamford9564 it’s just sad. ByKolles is 30 minutes away from my place. I’ve visited the place once and it’s just a lovely team and workshop with questionable decisions from Collin. But besides of that, it’s just a lovely crew.
But FIA is FIA… it was the same with rebellion, Ginetta etc…
Isotta was able to enter as a privateer. . . its just that bykolles was so incompetent that they got a brand name that was already copyrighted and now they are in a legal battle to use the name they chose.
well the the name of the class is Hypercar, and Hypercars are made by brands, not teams.
I mean the car looks great. The sound of the car was great too, they had some good driver and Villeneuve and it would be great to see what the car is capable of, if there are no heating problems. I think we will see this car never racing again, but it was cool to have it for one season
at least the car looks sick
and sounds great
@@ayoliya true, until it gets in the garage lmao
@@ananastudio they're a small team so it's normal. They need the support of the fans to keep trying to stay in the grid. Let's hope for a Le Mans appearence.
Their car looks like a boring LMP3 prototype.
@@fyfyi6053 this is the Toyota
I'm glad that they won't be back.
Could you put some links to the sources you used in description? Especially about legal activieties around the name itself
They could use multiple brands and call themselves something like Hyundai-Datsun-Tesla-Super aguri.
Cool video explaining Vanwall
They wouldn't be competing with anyone in most races since LMP2 is dropped anyway
they'd compete with lmgt3 hahaha but i loved the sound of the car really :( made me ears shake
Hot take the vanwall was the best looking hypercar
Some will come and some will go every year. Nothing new about that. If we're gonna lose any of the field, we're lucky it's a few backmarkers. Hopefully, the IF will fair better. 🤞
Thanks for revealing this for the fraud that it was.
I respect Colin Kolles for what he’s done in WEC especially in the dark years but he seems truly incapable of making a competitive car
3:30 new video petition
It’s an idea I’ve had in mind for a while, I’ll finish something I have pending before looking into it though!
Vanwall is a shadow of what it was in f1
This car was a laughing stock 😂
Its absurd how badly managed they are. It's embaressing...
Embarrassment 😅
The lack of seriousness? Why doesn't WEC just let privateers in 😎
At least they can go to IMSA! Oh wait...
Bykolles should’ve just bought an LMDH
@@coyy9106 Why are we so stuck on appeasing manufacturers? If they have a working car, let them race. Add pre-qualifying back. I don't get this agenda of appeasing manufacturers that WEC and IMSA are dead set on. Don't we want more cars on track for the show?
@@carwest11what show when they are busy fighting lmp2s and get basically zero screen time? If you are competitive great, if you can’t keep up just buy a competitive car. I liked the look of the vanwall and the variety it brought but I’d much rather have the 3rd Ferrari which I can actually see after the first lap and it’s actually fighting for podiums and maybe wins.
@kevinwho9007 OK but this is *exactly* why WEC removed LMP2. Why didn't IMSA if they aren't gonna let privateers in?
