Living in a nearby village, In the early 60's I visited LSZH (ZRH) Airport nearly every Wednesday afternoon. Then, after my first apprentice as a Chef, I went to work for Swissair and yes, I flew all of does Aircrafts as a passenger. I was privileged to fly the DC 8 series as Cockpit Crew around the globe in several different functions and duties. It was a great time. Thank you for uploading these fine memories.

Yes Swissair SR was great but now gone. Beautiful colour film super 8 photography. SR had super service on DC10-30ER and A310-200 aircraft international and staff January 1986 miss it. What a loss of a great airline! Same with Ansett well the same now gone. Ansett 727.
Lovely assortment of classic airplanes! This is the Kloten I remember when I was a little boy. And, yes, I flew on those DC-8s and a CV880. Thank you for the memories!
Wow this brings back memories from my childhood, this was when flying was still for the few. People still dressed up in their best when travelling. A trip from Scandinavia to Manila took ten stops, one of them here at Kloten.
I still can't believe that Swissair is no more. So sad. My father worked for SR in Kloten, my uncle in NY and my sister was a flight attendant for 4 years. Even I worked for a couple of summers in Kloten.
as kids every two years we would fly from zurich to NYC on TWA and/or Swissair (then onto OH for a summer month's stay with the grandparents). wonderful memories. My kid blanket is still jammed somewhere between row 12 & 13 seats, I believe. I want it back
flew Swissair as a 6 year old Manila to Tokyo , I believe it was a DC8 . Unforgettable experience since the stewardess brought me to the galley area and asked me to choose a toy . Flying was so much friendlier then.
@kleinjogg and hear Coronado's engines....I still remember the smell of the cabine and the noise of the latest plane around 11pm flying above my parents house. Air France DC4 with post mail...
Great documentation ! Just now we have a good discussion about the rare planes, seen in your clip on our Flightforum switzerland ILS (Interessengemeinschaft Luftfahrt Schweiz).
That's a good question. It must be just after taking-off from ZHR, but it seems that we are flying quite low. I made a mistake sorry, I don't know where the plane was flying after Basel (HB-ICT). We spent a few hours in Basle (Zoo). The machine in the later afternoon did fly to Rome from Basel via Geneva (HB-ICS). I've forgot the camera in the plane and got it back on the next day :-) The fly from Zürich to Basle was supposed to be operated by DC-9-14, but we've got the Caravelle. Date: Early September 1967. Unknown day.

Douglas, Boeing, Vickers, Sud Aviation, Fokkers, Convair, de Havilland.. Well now, when you're going to an airport, there are only Boeing and Airbus.. 😅 #with a bit of Bombardier, Embraer, or ATR eventually 😁

very nice film, all those old aircrafts types, Tupolev 104 !!! Convair Coronado, Caravelle etc, just beautiful, well done and thanks for sharing !!
Guess Tupolev 104 was from ČSA fleet.

Great nostalgic video, reminds me of when I was a kid. The Air Canada aircraft in the background was a DC-8. AC never had the 707 !!
Super schönes Video aus den 60 gern ;-) Vielen Dank und gern mehr davon.
Great video!!! I miss these classics!!! 10/10
As a young plane spotter at Geneva in the 60s this brings it all back - I flew on all of those Coronados - more fun than the A321s of today!
+Russell Pearce Yes, the CV990A, I always thought it was the sexiest airplane of that era, and also the fastest.
Coronado, Convair 990A, my favorite, Brazilian VARIG had them, I flew in them too, just memories now, my friend!

It's still alive, it's now SWISS AIRLINES no? I see their airplanes over my house going into ORD O Hare , Chicago.
Memories. Thanks for sharing. I can smell the cerosine. Lovely.

Love it! TY very much! You saw SAS at the end with a leased BAC 1-11. I think they only had two for a couple of years.
SAS BAC One Eleven (leased from British Eagle?), BEA Trident, GlobeAir Herald, OLYMPIC COMET!! This is a seriously rare bit of footage. Superb!
Great documentation !

Magnifique 🤩 🤩👍
A time when flying was not affordable for 90% of the population of Switzerland.
Mark, you can afford work save, budget, discipline, and fly.
Swissair SR was great it really was.
Ansett 727.
Beautiful film , Switzerland is still as beautiful. Thanks for sharing. Do you has such films of Basel
Oldies but goodies... very nice and looks so sixties.... Wish to know where the Caravelle flight was going to ?
Basel-Geneva-Rome
Hi JJ we were trying to recognize the landscape at 4.05 - would that be Basel then ?

Many thanks for your comment. The camera was an old Bolex 8mm of the fifties. I was around 10 :-)
I guess Bolex C8 or B8 for double 8mm film.
Very often the lightflash when the spool was turned for the 2nd run and the film catches some light
just awesome! congratulations!
Swissair was just about the only carrier that Boeing couldn't penetrate.
And to top it all off, a CSA Tu-104! Unreal!!
Zurich airport looked like this until teh construction of Terminal B in 1977, now the subject of renovation...
Fantastic!
this is great! color as well!!!!
That looks like a Handley Page Herald taxing at 1:06.
Swissair was the good times!
Great stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love that Air Canada 707 in the background.
DC-8
... do I spot a DeHavilland DH 106 'Comet 4' at 3:33 ? Lovely video! :-)
Yes. Olympic Airways
No! Comet hast got 4 jet engines.
This plane has got only 2 jet engines and wings with "tip-down". That's a Tupolev TU 104 !!!!!
The Comet of Olymic at first... than few seconds later the TU 104 turning to parking position at the tarmac
Wow...:-)
