I think this video detracts from the lyrics of the song, which are really timeless. By the way, that was Jerry Garcia of The Greatful Dead on steel guitar.
Stills and Young from Buffalo Springfield, Nash from The Hollies and Crosby from The Byrds, this really was a Folk Rock supergroup and they showed it in that Deja Vous album.
Out of the abundant riches of great music that came out during my hight school years (1970-74), this album "Deja Vous" stands out most in my memory. Every song was perfect. Many happy memories of sitting around with my frineds sharing a doobie and having deep discussions. Then I grew up...
Powerful video. Great song. I believe in talking to my kids about pretty much everything. And they in turn talk to me. We obviously talk about politics currently. Its unavoidable. Everyone should be aware, our kids are watching. ❤️✌️
Empathy. The generation gap was a bitch because a number of the big issues of the 60s and 70s kind of broke along generational lines. This song came out when I was a teenager and I took it, at some rudimentary level, as waving a white flag to encourage empathy from both sides. (Not that I would have articulated it this way). I don’t see a generation gap so much now but we are polarized and divided to be sure. There is money to be made and power to be gained via controversy. Btw- This is the official CSNY video put out by Graham Nash and Steve Scher in 2018. The commonality he is highlighting is youthful activism and that we who were teaching our parents back then are learning from our kids now. Their words not mine. Cool. (Not my initial reaction though.LOL).
This song was released in (1970) about the times & war…..looks like they added a modern video to go along with it because the issues never change over time. What a great song !
I feel the same way about family and community...but I'm lucky to have a Real community to help....we have all kinds of people and resources and I'm proud of that 😊😊
YOU GOTTA REMEMBER BIZ, THESE GUYS WERE ALLLLLLL FOR THAT PSYCHEDELIC WINDOW😊 CROSBY / BYRDS, STILLS / BUFFALO SPRINGFIELD, NASH / HOLLIES, AND YOUNG / SPRINGFIELD 😊 GREAT AWESOME MUSIC MY FRIEND!
Mr Bizmatic 😁 I can never get anyone to do a certain song that I've been asking others to do for months and months now. Maybe because I absolutely can't afford to give them money to do a reaction for me. Most I can do is subscribe, like and comment. I think you're a great person who would probably hook me up! It's a song by Blood Sweat and tears called Spinning Wheel. It'd really mean something to me if you'd do it,and it would certainly be appreciated. Anyone else here like that song? If so let Bizmatic know it's definitely worth it!
Glad I followed the core beliefs I grew up with and practiced in everyday life. What I passed onto my son and grandson was to be a good person first and the rest will follow!
"Because the past is just a goodbye." Don't ever forget. But is anyone listening? (great artwork to accompany this song) "The past is never dead. It's not even past." William Faulkner
Hey cuz. What a wonderful reaction. First I enjoyed the emotional gut punch the song gave you. It does that to me too. The song really hits home, doesn’t it? I also appreciate and respect your thoughtful reaction to it. I had not seen this video montage with this song before and it was an extremely powerful experience for me. I was born in 61 and I have lived through all the events depicted by the montage. It reminds me of both how far we have come in my lifetime yet how far we have to go. As for myself I’m an optimist. I think we will get there. I may be dead and gone by then but that’s the dream I’ve fed my children on. Thanks again for sharing your heartfelt reaction. I appreciate you.
Got to be my. Fav song EVER. And thats out of music ive heard for 67 yrs now. Country. Rock . Blues. Whatever. This is my fav. Idk why? It just is…. Dan
Love me some Bread they had a lot of big hits between 69 or 70 and around 1976 or 77. They were soft rock but very talented and David Gates was a great songwriter and singer. The studio version of this sounds great. If you haven't done "Guitar Man" yet, a phenomenal song and my favorite by them. "Everything I Own" great song. "Baby I'm A Want You" "It Don't Matter To Me" all great songs. Hope this helps you out a little. You just caused me to have to put my phones on in bed tonight and listen to "Breads Greatest Hits". I've been tuning in last few days. I had knee surgery a few days ago so I'm laid up for a little while here. This is nice again tuning in with you. Peace ❤
One thing you should be aware of is that it's kind of the opposite, Neil Young was a part of them originally coming out of Buffalo Springfield and then he left them at some point to do a solo career but they were good buddies and collaborated a lot.
Great reaction! Interesting seeing images relevant today shown during this song created way back when. Love this group! Any groups today creating music with similar themes? Thanks for all you do!
They are great. There’s a live set: 49 Bye byes/America’s Children is wonderful. On another tack, John Legend did a documentary on the civil rights movement and it’s music. It’s called Song Track for a Revolution. I think you would like it. The people who fought those battles are dying. He captured their voices.
Love, love, love this song. They only did this one Lp together before Neil Young bolted. Damn shame! De ju vu was one hell of an album. Released in August 1970 which I remember because I turned 12 that month and ran out and bought it with some birthday money and played the hell out of that record and still have it and it's beat to hell and back. Cover looks good but record is shot. Peace ❤
Hi Bizmatik, I was wondering if you're interested in doing a reaction to a German band called "Torrential Rain." These guys are about to release a new album, and their previous singles have made quite an impact on the metal scene here in Germany. Let me know if you're interested, and I'll provide you with all the information needed. Best regards, Hannes
Those images left me crying at the times we're living in now, with a dictator Trump at the door My mother was a single with me & brother in 1950 with no social justice help. Man, don't let anyone trick your head!. They want to own you!!
I simply can’t watch that video with this song. I lived the video like every other kid of that era, to one extent or another, and the events & attitudes of those years need to be remembered & not repeated but this is a video of conflict & violence, and that is precisely not what this song was about, in fact the opposite. Sad to me that someone chose to poison it.
But politics is always meddling in/with the meaning of these songs, either using them for campaigns or trying to censor and ban them. Let's be real, change the lyrics to "keep your children dumb" and be obedient servants to a media frenzy and control freak mentality.
Actually, the video does match the song. There was a major generational divide in the 1960's between the younger generations and the older generations, between the Baby Boomers and their WWII era parents, between hippies and straights -- when straight meant "straight laced" rather than heterosexual -- between Peaceniks and War Hawks, etc. etc. etc. The song reflects an effort by "the hippies" to reach out to the older generation to tell them not to worry so much about them, to trust that they raised them well, and so on. Even the country music style of the song is meant to reflect that.
And Jerry Garcia of the Grateful Dead playing the pedal steel guitar which gives this song a special sound.
I think this video detracts from the lyrics of the song, which are really timeless.
By the way, that was Jerry Garcia of The Greatful Dead on steel guitar.
WTF was rhat video you played?
CSN&Y were definitely one of the best groups from the 70’s and one of the bands that started pure harmonies
This is the first song my daughter ever heard, even before being born. I sang it to her at bedtime and she's singing it these days to my grandson
That's so beautiful to know!
Stills and Young from Buffalo Springfield, Nash from The Hollies and Crosby from The Byrds, this really was a Folk Rock supergroup and they showed it in that Deja Vous album.
Good reaction, you nailed the biggest problem we have in our society... families breaking down .It's happening all across racial & ethnic groups.

Definitely was one of the most outstanding album from that creative era.
It sucks growing up doesn't it.
It is spelled Deja Vu!
@@joelliebler5690 Right, thanks
Great Nash song. And that's Jerry Garcia on steel guitar.
The peace and love in the music of the 60s~70s seems to have taken a detour! 🥺
Disco was the first road sign saying "Detour - turn here," and it's been downhill every since lol.
Love this song 🎵 ❤️
Helpless
Carry On
Woodstock
Country Girl
All songs off of their best album Deja Vu

One of their greatest

They were the 1st concert I went to. Saw them at the Greek theater in LA. AWESOME!
Excellent song. I would love to hear it again.
@@roberthalpern5454 I bet it was 😁 My first concert was probably totally different, but still awesome. White Zombie and Korn back in 94.

Jerry G on the pedal steel! Classic.

It starts with the break down of FAMILY. A FAMILY consists of a Mom. A DAD. MARRIED. COMMITTED. IT IS GONE.
Jerry Garcia(Grateful Dead) playing a sweet steel guitar on this track.
Great meaning and tune. Try reacting to the tune Country Girl which is written with lead vocals by Neil Young on CSNY’s Deja Vu album.
As a20yeardaycareworker. This song hits hard. This ISNT DONE ANYMORE😞
david crosby wrote one of the best protest songs ever "almost cut my hair". check it out.
Classic folk-rock CSN&Y protest song.
Crosby Stills Nash and Garcia !
Jerry Garcia is playing the pedal steel guitar, and was paid with a gift of a Fender strat, that became known as Alligator.
You got it, Biz!

Bob Dylan, With God On Our Side is a song I think you would like.
Hey man. I couldn't find your email. This video has CCR as a thumbnail. Thought you should know.

Man, I can't believe nobody mentioned Jerry Garcia's role in this tune before my previous comment. Pathetic.
Those images left me crying at the times we're living in now, with a dictator Trump at the door
My mother was a single with me & brother in 1950 with no social justice help.
Man, don't let anyone trick your head!. They want to own you!!
Young was on again off again member of the band. Inconsistent. Jerry Garcia, of the Grateful Dead band, played the steel guitar on this.

I know the RIGHT WAY. BUT can’t get into it here.
sadly you are watching the politized video-
This song has nothing to do with politics!
But politics is always meddling in/with the meaning of these songs, either using them for campaigns or trying to censor and ban them. Let's be real, change the lyrics to "keep your children dumb" and be obedient servants to a media frenzy and control freak mentality.
This video doesn’t match the song. I don’t feel it’s a political song, more about morals and values that parents pass on to their kids
yes, you should have used a CSNY video, or just shown the album cover.
It’s easy Biz. Be true to yourself and let it go from there
It’s sounds easy?
I never thought it was a political song 🎵 either
Actually, the video does match the song. Shame the video was so leftist, damn, nothing to do with the beautiful lyrics. From Argentina.
