To Fiona the Dutch Lady: it is not 600 years gap, really some genuine Jesus teaching survived beyond the 3d century to the fifth .. in fact the last creedal meeting was around 450 AD (125 years before the birth of the Prophet Muhammad) yet the true Jesus teaching was still alive, have you read the long hadith of Salman? from where did he and his priest got the the signs that the last Prophet would arise, in Arabian region (bayna al Harratain between the 2 lava beds that is mecca... so there were some monks and priests kept the original teaching, they gave him the signs and he migrated from Amoriyah (modern day Turkey ) to Arabia, to look for that Prophet.. the hadith is Authentic..
