To be honest, i feel like the creep factor goes down when you start dehumanizing the character. Like, if the features were still distorted but the parts that are identifiably human like the irises and skin color are left intact.
This is also true! It would be cool to examine more subtle ways of achieving creepiness in another video
@pitchcanker of course I'm no artist, so I don't understand the physical aspect of creating these sorts if things. I just love the philosophy of the scare.
Yes :) I’m a fan of uncanny valley for this reason. The familiarity of another person, but then the creeping sensation that something is “off” or “wrong”

Theres a very small line that seperates creepy and goofy art that if you're not careful you'll get into without meaning to

I had a surgery where I couldn’t walk for a few months and I might have digested a little too much Bob Ross and now I’m drawing happy little nightmares
the thing in the intro either looks like a red alien made of pure nightmare fuel, or a red alien with the "✨slayy✨" eyes

I've always been drawn to unnatural or slightly off smiles. Just the twisting of a feature of joy or happiness to give unease. Also love a pitch black eye

i like monsters that have hair to be more kempt and actually like its been taken care of because it makes the monster seem more willing to live even if its willing to die to get you.
How would you depict intense hatred as a drawing? Also a suggestion, maybe you could do a series of drawings different feelings. I started trying to mix your style with mine and I feel that you inspire me a lot, especially when I’m drawing my own feelings.
I’ve actually drawn it a few times! I would say check out my piece on Instagram WRATH from the seven deadly sins series, it definitely is my most intense piece in the subject

Tbh, and this is a personal preference, but to me this isn’t creepy at all. For something to be creepy in my opinion it had to be not overtly unnatural or horrific if you get what I mean.
But also creepy has a lot to do with setting too. It can be situational, so a self portrait style might just not do it for me.

Noticed you draw allot of androgynous characters. I’d be really interested to see you do a study on masculine/feminine horror. See what aspects of which ends of the spectrum lends themselves to horror^^
I was thinking of a similar concept! I’ve done a few studies in each direction, but it would be cool to do a dedicated series on the subject
