In this video I go in-depth with Mario Kart 8's Booster Course Pass DLC visuals, with a focus on how it's different from the original stages of Mario Kart 8, and the DLC stages that were added on the Wii U. Are these new visuals awful or is the huge amount of new content worth it?

The thing you mentioned with scaling is called forced perspective, the objects are scaled up larger so they're more noticeable or for other illusions like scaling things down so they look further away, and since you usually zip by things like the spectator toads you usually don't notice that they're sizing is off, its common in game development
I wonder if for the next Mario Kart, they could handle character scaling the way Sucker Punch did for Sly 2, where characters are dynamically scaled bigger/smaller depending on the camera distance. It's great since it fixes visibility issues when characters are far away while also being unnoticeable.

When driving the city tracks, I feel like the tracks are too wide and the turns too drawn out for 150cc, especially Paris Promenade and Tokyo Blur, and I think the driving experience would be better if the tracks were scaled down closer to how they were in Mariokart Tour.

I remember this video got quite a number of people in the comments basically just saying, "Bad opinion! You're just nitpicking and you should be thankful Nintendo gave us these tracks!" and that's really a shame because this video, in my opinion, was one of the best at summarizing all of the complaints people had with the BCP at the time. Like, I'm sorry, but the messed-up text on the DK truck should not have made it past quality control (which now that I'm looking at it, was a result of the developer's indecision between making the label say either "sports drink" or "energy drink").
Can’t you make the same excuse that you need to literally stop playing the game to be able to even see the messed up text on the DK truck in New York Minute?

You should check out the new CTGP 8 Deluxe mod, the track designs of those goes to show you how much of a better job Nintendo could've done with the Booster Course Pass, even if the later waves were improved. The biggest disappointment for me. Way too many Tour/City maps and there should've been more tracks from the mainline console/handheld Mario Kart games.

Games like base MK8 Deluxe and Smash Ultimate have an art style that I LOVE, which is just "cartoony characters/locations but with realistic detail". Idk what it is about that combo but it's an art style that I love so freakin much, and I miss it in the Booster Course Pack maps
the older tracks remind me of GLaDOS’ way of keeping air in the test chambers in portal.
She takes the stuff already in there, freshens it up a little, and pumps it in. Rinse and repeat.
This was honestly the main reason I didn't buy the booster course DLC. Why should I spend money on these courses when I can play them in tour for free and they don't look significantly better in 8DX?
The other reason was I was just sick of 8's engine. It's not as satisfying as the engine of earlier games like DS and Wii.
I dont remember who at nintendo but in the making of wii im pretty sure (could be a diff mk) they said that they specifically used rc cars as inspiration for the driving mechanics id assume it applies to their map design too

It’s better than the based game except for the first two waves. I'm glad we have the BCP because the based game got boring since the beginning of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
The reason 3DS Rainbow road looks great quality is because there is only few objects from MKT 😂

Ond thing they did in wave 3's Peach Gardens that I really like was actually replacing the Tour flower models with the ones seen in the base game
