I agree that 1-year gap sucks. But the state this game was launched 1 year ago in China was rough.
The client we got the global version has all the QoL changes and content that was added later on, so I'm glad we are getting a better product at the cost of the content gap.
    All that said, great video!

GFL is a very entrenched franchise. I don't think competing with stuff like NIKKE (which I'm also a huge fan of) will be doable and nor do I think that GFL has that goal in mind.
The core player base was originally a bunch of historical gun nuts that like anime girls. That was the appeal. The story after that is what captured part of the base into other games like PNC or Reverse Collapse.
To me, it's pretty obvious that the GFL games fully expect you to be familiar with the franchise rather than new to it. PNC is a glaring example. There's a lot of not so subtle ham fisting throughout the story that you just won't understand (or care about) as a new player, but that's part of the charm of the game to me and the franchise as a whole.
Unless GFL makes an anime FPS shooter game I don't think they have any plans to dethrone anyone near the top of the gacha space. It's too grounded for that.
Of course I want them to make money and they need to at least put in the effort to reach out beyond their base, but that's never felt like a priority when playing their games. I think their confidence in their story, character designs, and gameplay to a specific type of crowd (over a more generic loop like NIKKE) is what they plan to sail on; for better or for worse.
As a huge fan, there's a comfort in knowing that GFL isn't going to suddenly shift itself to vey for a new demographic. It's a quirk that I think other newer games don't always have the luxury to enjoy.
    --
I am also happy that GFL is determined to innovate its gameplay as a whole. Going from GFL 1 and PNC chibi combat to a real tactical grid is going to be a huge change for long time fans.
And while I have fond memories of GFL 1... some of those event campaign missions are PTSD inducing.
I don't think the XCOM style of combat is a small crowd either. Not as large as other crowds, I know, but it's still nothing to scoff at. I'm excited to see how much more they'll evolve the GFL game design going forward.

Campaing in GFL2 is quite easy . . . until you have to fight Boss Vepley.

GF1 had a 2 year gap between CN and EN initially, but now it's a one year gap. Even though CN gets client updates, new dolls, and events one year earlier, it's not actually a bad thing. Some of the client updates made the game run worse, all the new dolls have almost a year long wait to get their VAs, and some events had some annoying puzzles or combat maps. EN is able to skip updates, get new dolls after they get their lines voiced, and get guides for ranking maps and other time and battery consuming stages. Plus we can get a forecast of what gacha elements are coming up so we can better save for them.
The story and music of GF1 were the only things that keep me consistently playing, so they better not dumb down the story for some new players. From what I heard, the new 404 team story event that CN recently got is said to be very good.

I agree with your assessment overall, but it's a double-edged sword. The main thing that has me saying the 1-year gap is bad is because the global reveals won't be as hype. Speculation will technically be non-existent if you're only playing Global. And you practically can't engage in the community if you don't want to be spoiled of anything.
Plus, as a lore nerd, the CN version is going to get those stories first. We'll translate it and such, and I'm personally fine with reading ahead of the global version (I did it with FGO), but it's a bummer that we can't just have all synchronized.
As for music: I hope they step it up in GFL2. The tunes aren't as memorable, but I heard they start going in at later patches.

Definitely gonna be my secondary game apart from snowbreak. It's nice to have a different kind of game story other than having all the girl simping for u. At least to keep the sanity intact and myself grounded to earth.

Love this IP and tile based strategy route they ended up going with. I’d be even happier if Nikke ends up going this route since I find their gameplay to get dull after the a month or 2.

I played GFL a long time ago. Was my intro into 'gacha' games as it were. I liked it, but stopped after a while due to the events getting too hard for me, but I did like the setting and the story, it was cool.

I played gfl 1 a few years ago. Keeping up with memes, manga, art, etc. dropped it because of grinding. I enjoyed it briefly. This seems much mire interesting in terms of gameplay. I look forward to it.
Also, scarlet nexus music fits really well.

Hope the rumored Dec. 3 release is true. I have time for 1 more gacha in my rotation and just heard about this game a few days ago and absolutely loved the gameplay. But having researched there's not much data on which units to look forward to and what. Prydwen has GLF2 but still no data reg their units' info, skills, etc. Anyone know of a resource I can study?

Majority (if not all) of it is in the GFL2 discord, but as far as what banners to look forward to, here it is: imgur.com/a/3LMhfSp
This is in order of CN release, though the producer has already stated they will be switching up the order for Global server.

Nice, had no idea Gfl had other entries other than the first, I play nikke but always hated the ecchi instant fall in love thing, so its good to hear that there is more of a natural story. Also am a old school FE r99 and limbus enjoyer so this looking to be fun. Great vid

Besides GFL1 and 2 there's Reverse Collapse (which happens 30 years after GFL1) and Project Neural Cloud (a spin-off that shows a story that happens a while before GFL1).

All I know is the time and effort of trying to manage at one point just got to me after i had gotten Heavily into it GF1. Where i had manage to figure out "Corpse Dragging" and the what not but it just felt like a slog to continue and improve my teams past that to the point i burnt out. Still love ti to bits of where i DID get to.

@@TakDaimon Some of the new stuff I was definetly behind on like the fire support teams and capturing enemies. However, Once I got M4 to Mod3 she could carry quite a few of the tough fights.

  • @PerfectDeath4

Having played a lot of GFL1 but also playing a lot of XCOM (OG and Frisaxis) and also Xenonauts I would say GFL2 does not feel xcom. However, that would be more to do with GFL devs being more JRPG oriented, GFL1 was a lot of puzzle kind of missions, especially story missions. Once a player has attempted the mission they know what to expect when they repeat it. XCOM generally avoided that repetition in maps and enemy encounters.
I'd say I get more Valkyria Chronicles vibes but with the Friaxis XCOM controls/UI.
I think the GFL lore could achieve the XCOM vibes more if they went more with the whole T-Dolls controlling their dummy links. However, they look to be focusing on each character being a "hero" type.

This is a game i will enjoy this Dic3 oh boi i cannot wait ive been expecting this game since Nikke was about to release over 2 years ago. This game will be my Nikke 2, in terms of Great Fan service and Great gameplay how i like it semi Auto Semi Manual with some selfagency and decision making enough for me to keep me interested (too much Auto or too much Manual i dont enjoy if the game decides to go fully for 1 and not the other like scarlet covenant echocalypse, counterside, ash echoes, princess connect, konosuba (and many other animes ips), and many mindless autobattlers, i like to AUTO all easy content and farming stages and i would like to semiManual hard content/endGame just the way i play Nikke and i will be happy, this will be a secondary Collector Waifu Game i will enjoy along with Nikke and i will buy those seggxy skins, im quite pleased with their designs.

You should read the GFL1 evens on TH-cam, 'cause GFL1's strong point IS the story.
Btw, GFL is still not finished, so expect more events to come.

I'm hopping that the transition to 3d and xcom style of battle makes some of the puzzles and mechanics easier to understand. I still actively play GFL 1 but some of those event maps are too obtuse. Without a guide, I sometimes have no clue what it wants me to do or how to approach them. I like hard fights and boss mechanics similar to raid but when they ask me to step on specific radar nodes in specific orders it's like ??? how the heck am I suppose to know that.
Lore wise I love it but I hope it's a bit more cohesive and somewhat more linear in a way. You sometimes get lost because of how often it jumps around from one POV to the next and it feels like you are missing some steps or bread crumbs between events or chapters. Or sometimes it is just off the wall crazy, I'm looking at you last global event Cartesian Theatre. I know M4 is special but that event sort of came out of left field and made me go HUH??? I was expecting some sort of Skynet M4 not Timelord M4. That was not in my bingo card at all.
There is also a total disconnect between some events and story/lore. The last last event was Defy, Angie, and the tower, then it went to the commander and Griffin and Emma, to..this...wacky event that came out of no where. Again, I was expecting Skynet/Megaman future, not Dr. Who/Timelord future. Plus I would love to know what the heck happen to the commander between GFL1 and GFL2 as well as the 3 main team. So far, only 404 have been shown but Defy and Anti-rain/AR are not even mentioned.

    • @HeroMysticLYX
      @HeroMysticLYX  หลายเดือนก่อน

They're probably holding on to AR and DEFY for much later down the line. 404 is a lot easier to add in since they don't have any obligations. I get you on how wonky the storytelling gets. I think Mica is trying to go as slow as possible since there is a definitive end to GFL1 baked in thanks to GFL2 already calling it out.
And I'm sure Timelord M4 was not on anyone's Bingo Card.

As someone who played a lot GFL1 and loved the story... the writing here in GFL2 is quite disapointing also the fact that the commander feels like a totaly different character wich he gained such relevance after singularity that it just sucks... just in the line "do I LOOK like i need your help"(said to Groza) is something that commander would never had said, the commander just became a brat

I've been playing the beta but due to time commitments I haven't been able to finish the story but I am currently disappointed in the difficulty. It's 100% non-existent, I haven't had to think about what units I've been Fielding at all and while I do like that to some degree because it means I can just get away with using the dolls that I like, I do also want to have to put my strategic mind to the test as well, as it stands inside story mode all of the dolls skills and everything might as well not exist. From speaking to people who did play the CN version it was a lot harder and you had to strategically think and I'm a bit sad that they took that away. I honestly don't think the gacha system is too bad, weapons being on the standard banner isn't an issue because at the end of the day 9 times out of 10 you'll probably be able to find a use for that weapon. Also it's a minor thing but it costs 100 less currency for a 10 pull in this than it doesn't genshin which is nice. I'm curious to see how difficult the actual release will be because the beta has been fairly generous in giving us materials, energy and pulls, so I expect the average account to be far more limited in its options then what the beta has presented. I desperately want to catch up on the story so I think I'll sit down with the cut scene viewer over the next couple of weeks, I'm currently about halfway through what we have available in EN on GFL1.
Lastly I won't be happy until best girl ak-12 is in the game.
