They’d immediately halt all proceedings and lock down the building until police arrived to search the whole premises, review cameras, interview everyone in the building etc. The attorney of a party to an ongoing trial being attacked in a courthouse is a very serious criminal matter and courts take violence against their attorneys very seriously

Wouldn't the judge most likely decide that whether the assaulted lawyer felt capable of continuing or not, the likelihood of an appeal being filed (e.g. arguing he likely operated under diminished capacity, perhaps suffering a concussion or other TBI) would be so great that the case would be rescheduled? I would even expect the rescheduling would be put on hold until after the lawyer was thoroughly examined by a qualified professional and given a clean bill of health. My understanding is that judges are extremely diligent when it comes to watching out for and preventing any avenues parties may use as grounds for appeal, as the existence of successful appeals to cases they've ruled on is seen as a blemish or stain on a judge's career. Is that more or less true?
