For those who don't know, this is the FIRST MOVIE REACTION THAT MADE IT ONTO THE CHANNEL! In the past, I did try movies, but they kept getting blocked, so I put movies on hold. But now, I know how to edit them to get them onto the channel so maybe there will be more movie reactions down the road! Also, I'm not experienced on how to edit movies so if you didn't like the editing, I apologize. I'm still learning and practicing! Hope you enjoyed the video!
Fun fact the actor who played master chief voice Raphael in the tnmt 2014 movie and the guy who voice master chief isnt from the games. Its steve Downes who voice master chief in the halo games.
Congrats on the post. These movies were pre-release before the video game released. Good luck with the channel. Voice actor for Chief wad Daniel Cufmore who played Colossus in the X-Men X2 movie.
This movie is short, but it's a nice prelude to Lasky's character. When you meet him in 4, he greets Chief like he knows him. And the first thought that came to mind is how do they know each other. That's why they made this movie. To close that plot hole.
Other Spartans: 087-Kelly, 104-Fred, both core members of 117-John's Blue Team. Someone else mentioned 034-Sam, who was part of the team, but died...probably not long before these events. And the numbers are wibbly, but they were probably somewhere between 14 and 16.
@@patrickhuot001 I checked the wiki for the post (because it has been a while), but those four were the original, and after Sam the 4th tended to be mission-specific, with Kurt, Linda, and others swapping out regularly. Linda became a more regular member later.
That’s no opinion. That’s a simple fact. FUD feels like a HALO property. The series is a generic sci fi thing with a thin veneer of Halo sloppily applied. …and the horse they rode in on.”

Basically, Gnaeus Domitius Corbulo was a Roman General and the Brother-in-Law of Emperor Caligula. Emperor Nero was afraid of Corbulo’s influence and power so he ordered him to take his own life. He did so, stabbing himself in the chest with his own sword, while shouting “Axios!” which means “I am Worthy”. General Black was shaming Hastati Squad for their failure in training and telling them they would never live up to Corbulo’s name if they carried on they way they were, Lasky in particular since he comes from a storied Military family with his mother Colonel Audrey Lasky and his brother Cadmon being particularly famous.
This movie is so good! Master Cheif is canonically 15 years old at this time that's why his voice sounds different. This movie is so fuckin good the show runners should have brought on the creators of this movie.
Fun fact: Here Lasky is around 15 years old, he's barely starting his training, someone who is also around 15 years old are the Spartans. Both John and Lasky are the same age yet John already outranks Lasky and while that would change in the future, Spartans have some kind of special authority even when the captain of the ship is still alive.
Highly recommend you check out Halo Legends its a collection of animated short stories that came out around 2009-2010, the stories don't connect to the main story of the Halo games but are an incredible addition to the lore of Halo and a fun media to watch on their own even without knowing anything about Halo
I am glad I found you .... the Spartan 2's were all about 15 years old at this time, having born in 2511. The cadets were all around 18 - 21 years old being in an academy (college students). So yea ... "That's classified" You have a new subscriber!
Side note: noble 6 was on reach during its fall and was responsible for getting cortana off reach (along side noble team) during the covenant invasion and glassing of reach (although they had been a debate about noble 6 surviving reach since his death was seen in the game) and to some degree if it wasn't for noble 6 master chief wouldn't of met cortana and the UNSC would never of discovered halo (history of noble 6 Has been surrounded by black ink and red tape since he was a black ops agent and lone wolf for ONI)
At 23:24 When Master Chef says he's sorry it's because he really is sorry because he just lost one of his friends from day one Sam 034 by him sacrificing himself to destroy a covenant carrier
Chief had rear-guard so he stayed at attention, ready to cover in case something came behind them - this is why he keeps his helmet on. The others were at rest. So they did. They also likely sympathised a bit with the young cadets since the cadets themselves would be around their age, although a couple years olders.
17:28 The sad part is that the "ODSTs dropping is never good" line gets even scarier when the orbiting station most likely knew that it was doomed so the command up there immediately ordered all ODSTs ready to drop to get the hell out of there and get to the ground to make a final stand against the Covenant landing their forces at Corbulo. Probably a good call even though almost everyone lost their lives. Those poor cadets that thought they were ascending to safety and then fell screaming to their deaths. Still gives me chills that they filmed that.
People often don't realise how young the spartan 2s actually are in most of their appearances. Chief was probably younger than 20 during halo 1 and even by the time halo infinite came around he isnt likely much older than 30. The spartan 2s in particular spent a lot of time in Cryo sleep so they are almost always younger than people think they are.
Damn you do have great memory for faces. Also that tidbit of info about the soldier lowering his weapon for lasky was something I’d never noticed. Thank you for that and great reaction!
Thank you for your words! I can remember faces and place them where I've seen them, but not names 😂. And for lowering the weapon when someone passes is VERY STRICT in the military so that's how I spotted that fast
One of the big points of gun safety I've seen repeatedly emphasized is that you never point your gun at someone unless you intend to kill them. Even if you think it's unloaded.
17:40 you were questioning why the ODST’s dropped when they did, they weren’t under attack exactly…ODST’s job is to drop behind enemy lines and get the job done. When they dropped on the academy it was assumed they were already under enemy control.
I was really surprised by this "movie" (techically a show) when it came out! Obviously I was aware of the Halo game but I've never played it, and I knew basically nothing about the Halo-verse (?), but I think they did a great job with setting the tone from the start of the movie, and they kept it going to the very end. A lot of the time you'll see these kind of movies trying to "lighten the mood" or like acknowledge the fact it's based on a game, but this movie never does that. It keeps taking itself seriously throughout the whole thing, so the audience does as well.
It was amazing! At least Master Chief didn't take off his helmet and I like how the other spartans look: the visibility of the scars and augmentation 💯
Waayÿyyy better than the TV series. Has the actual Blue Team (not the BS silver team in the TV series). And master chiefs suit look better here too (looks rubbery in the TV show)
I actually got to take a picture with the Warthog used in the movie in 2011 at the GameStop Expo. It was freaking huge. And it was awesome. You mentioned this being released in 2012, but we were aware of it in 2011 due to being a web series promoting the game release, this is why it says released in 2012 because the movie format was released then.
Well Halo content has a pretty permissive Copyright... also this "movie" was a short that used to premiere on IGN back in the day as a weekly part video IIRC.

Hey icebreaker, I'm doing well thank you! Hope you're doing well too! Thanks for the info and also, I did mean Halo Fall of Reach. It's another Halo movie that was recommended to me. I didn't know about Halo Nightfall actually
At 15:20, when they're asking "what is that thing" I think what they're referring to is the reflection in the visor, which is an Elite wielding a plasma sword. Technically your initial thought wasn't wrong either, the Covenant attack on Circinius IV (the planet the Corbulo military academy is on) happens in 2526, the Spartan II program is made public knowledge in 2547, 21 years later, in order to boost morale. So at this point in time, exceedingly few people have seen Spartan II's in action and indeed they could have also been referring to Spartan Frederic-104.
It's the Spartan because I know I cut it out of the video, but it was what they were discussing. They compared the Spartan to ODST so that confirms they were talking about 104
7'2" actually. The actor (who played Colossus in the X2 movie) is the same canonical height as John-117 in real life, and with the Mjolnir Armor costume on was the lore accurate game height of 7'2".
Halo Forward Unto Dawn, Halo Nightfall and Neil Blomkamp's Halo Landfall short should have been among the movies used for the TV series but sadly not much of canon/lore was used in the TV series. Even Halo, Fall of Reach movie and even some of Halo Legends could have been used but that's not what they did. There are elements of the TV series that work. It's good but there's much that makes no sense at all.
The TV series is what happens when a bunch of clueless executives, who don't give a 💩 about fans, hires a woke director (who's never played the games & refuses to research the lore) and a narcissistic actor who wants his face shown as much as possible.
Honeslty as far as live action halo content goes (besides trailers) this is the best we've gotten. Better than the show and dear god.. Nightfall. It got the tone right and told the story of the then new character Lasky. I really enjoy forwards unto dawn and give it a watch every now and then
