It's hard these days on our rivers, especially when don't get chance to go that often, the rivers are either closed, low and clear, over the bank, to cold or polluted.

It's good to see even the blanks. We all have them. I've picked up so much knowledge and little tips from watching your videos. You mentioned losing tackle in this video. It's something that's happened a few times in my first year deadbaiting and, on a few occasions, lost traces in water too, which I hate. What steps do you take to try to avoid snap offs? Im already using 60lb braid, titanium traces, and running rig.

Personally I just try and avoid the margins close in , especially on this river theres so many snags it gets expensive constantly loosing tackle, probably cast 4-5 rod lengths out away from the near snags normally does it on a calm river , if it's fast and running thru use heavy leads to pin the tackle down.

I had an early start today, 6th, arrived my chosen venue to find the whole lake frozen over with thick ice. Plan b was the Trent so after a longish drive arrived at the river to find it running lke a train with an extra 8 to 10 feet of water. An absolute corker of a day with sun and thick frost. No fishing possible, totally gutted as I don't have many opportunities to fish.
